You know what you should do? Take your creativity and imagination and turn that into like an awesome book or a movie. there is nothing wrong with being an adult and still play with toys. People like to put lables on things that arn't considered normal but what is normal. People have expectations of you but I don't think its bad thing to still be childish :p the guy who created peter pan was considered abnormal and look at how awesome and successful he is now.
wow i thought i was the only one like this. u are totally like me. i get everything ur saying. id love to talk to u. i wouldnt go "squirrel hunting" with u cos i love squirrels so i dont want to kill them even for pretend but id do other adventures. do u like pirates? id go treasure hunting. lol.i hope u read this. i live in ny where do u live? how old r u? (for real, not mentally)
I have always refused to grow up, but life brings changes that we can't avoid. My mother recently died, never managed to get along well with her. I feel bad I never made peace with her, I was too busy following my dreams. Now I regret it. I also miss the good old days, being an adult sucks, you even have to be responsible for things you don't even do. I have to move on, but I wish I could apologize with mom.
Fucking bums. This is the result of liberal parenting and marxist brainwashing in school, your ass should be out on the streets if you can't take care of yourself, Socialist parasites.
Im the same way. Bout to be 21 and its not that Im scared to be a adult its just I like to be carefree and not worry to much about "life". I could of been gone to college but it scares me since thats a step to "growing up" or it could be that i just dnt like school lol idk all i know is that Im happy.
@ancxxxsold13r "Im scared to be a adult its just I like to be carefree and not worry to much about "life"." So you have the subconscious belief that 'adulthood=worrying'? Where did you get this belief? Which adults gave you this (false) image? Are you sure they did not have some kind of mental illness like 90% of ppl? I'll tell you the truth son, the worrying about "not worrying" is a worry and a very big one. Oh yes, college sucks. Now be an adult: quit and take a laid back job.
Try and optimisticaly impact the world with the infamous Peter Pan Syndrome, maybe write childrens books ..? there is a place for EVERYTHING and EVERYONE
I will have a swingset, a merry-go-round, and a TALL-ass slide in my backyard. Live your life the way you want to! Don't EVER change for Society's standards! It's so unfortunate that when a grown man is playing near kids, he is perceived as a pedophile, yet turn that around, and a girl would just be perceived as a lover of kids. It's fucked!
I can COMPLETELY relate to what you're saying. I am a 23 years old girl, going to be 24 this year, and i STILL love happy meals. I enjoy the cashier asking me "boy or girl?" - i smile EVERY time. Being an adult, growing up scares the shit outta me. When you're a kid you have SUCH an imagination, but then it slowly fades away..which i really fucking hate. But you know, you have so much more freedom to do what you want to do. I have said and i still mean this, that when i get older, i will
I don't like Happy Meals anymore, too expensive, the toys now are terrible and the food no longer tastes the same. But I do feel the need to be a child :).
@GokuMcDuck Yeah, the toys suck. The toys used to be better when I was growing up. When they still had the McDonald's characters, other than Ronald McDonald.
for me its more of a thing where im afraid of growing up and having more responsibilities. im only 16 but its like i still can play preted games without thinking its wierd and i know this isnt that strange but ive made no effort whatsoever to even get my permit. i keep all my old toys and games because im sort of attached to them but since society has a certain view of people i guess ill have to conform eventually or ill become a huge outsider and thats way worse than growing up in my opinion
I got the opposite of this syndrome. I was never really the kid who played with toys etc.. I was always the one who took them apart, learned how they worked and finished with them there.
I preferred, even at a young age, to watch a documentary than a cartoon. To me knowledge is the most fun and satisfying thing.
I don't let anyone distort me from that, never let anyone distort you from what you want to do. You only live once, be selfish, do what you want to do.
@darkshad109 yo im exactly like you my parents never bought me toys cause i would just take them apart and i hate cartons i love the history, science, animal planet and all educational channels
i feel this way...I don't know if I'm just spoiled but I simply don't want to face the challenges and problems that adults face. I don't know..it kind of sucks.
I think I might have it too. I mean I had a wild imagination as a child, and I still do! I am not repenting from growing up, but I would much rather be a child and have lots of fun and let my dreams come true rather than studying, getting a job, and paying bills like an adult (even though I'll eventually have to).
You are on the right track for you. Dont listen to the discontented and brainwashed lemmings that made up Peter Pan syndrome and look down on others different then them. Look at wild wolves as an example, even as adults they often play like puppies with each other, and yet they still contribute to the survival of the pack.
I completely agree with you and understand what you mean. Being an "adult" sucks, I wish I could go back to my childhood and do all the fun things I used to do all the time. It's encouraging to know that I'm not the only one that feels this way because my unwillingness to "grow up" is one of the reasons I will never be good enough for my parents. I can't be who they want me to be because I'm still a kid at heart.
Well I've been messedup most of my adult life. I got professional help at 27. They said I was suffering from Depression and gave Prozac. I felt better but my life was still the same. I am now 48! Oh my God! I am still living like I was at 27! My life has gone noware! Is there any way out or I'am I doomed?
Hey, as long as you aren't harming yourself or anyone else by doing it, what's wrong with staying connected to your inner child? Everybody has one, it's just society that pressures us to bury it deep inside the moment we get past a certain age... Well fuck that, no wonder depression and anxiety are so prevalent these days! To hell with arbitrary cultural pressures I say, play with toys and eat candy, enjoy the little things, it's your life and your right to live it to its fullest!
I'm 17 and i'm someone that's way too mature. I already start thinking alot about life and took up philosophy. Everyday was really just politics , debating and stress. I do not agree with many people. I also find that adults that claim to be mature and sensible are inferior to the extent of intelligence i have. Sorry about being so narcissistic but it's all very true.
I do envy people with peterpan syndrome. It's almost like a shield away from boredom in a office and retardation of society.
I'm almost 20 now, some nights i wake up when i can't fall asleep,
and i go out for a walk i think about becoming an adult, technicly i am grown up
but mentally i feel just like a kid, when i go visit my family and i see my little
brother playing with his lego i always envy him.
i think il have a kid just so il have an excuse to play like a little kid with lego again :), at some point its like a daily job and bills suck out your youth.
I wouldn't call it a Peter Pan "Syndrome" though because it makes in sound negative.
The way I see it, what is adulthood anyhow? Everybody has to work. What else is there to look foward to? Retirement...then what? D: It's predictable compared to childhood.
At 42, I make a really lame adult too. I still like cartoons, chocolate milk and rubber bracelets...to name a few. I think you might like the following booK: "How To Tell If You're A Grownup Yet Or, From Here To Maturity", by Cornelia Ravenal. Illustrations by Ian Ross. It's kind of old, but really fun. Oh, and being an artist exempts you from adulthood for life!
I have more Nerf guns than anyone I know (have my eye on a Nerf crossbow, too), I still have all of my stuffed animals (still sleep with a teddy), I play with hot wheels cars, I still colour, I love cartoons and I'm stuck in my imagination, really, because no one else gets it.
Peter Pan Syndrome is one of the greatest things in the world, but boy can it be lonely. And some people, like you said, are a little "thing" about adults playing with toys.
I'm 18 and I set free my imagination when my parents are out and I get along better with kids than adults. Adults just don't understand what I think and what I think is fun I love pretending and making up games and playing on playgrounds. I refuse to grow up with all my heart! I mean you only live once right? why work yourself to death in an office or something and worry about bills why can't you just have fun.
@GaarasTrueFriend the problem is with such a philosophy you think only about yourself and YOU having fun. you don't really think/care about the others, especially about the close ones. so you often hurt them.
Because playing on a playground won't pay bills. Sure we'd all like to play and have 'fun' but there's things that need to be done, no matter how boring they are.
P.S: Did you guys know that people who have Peter pan Syndrome might possibly (this is a 25% chance) turn out to be a pedophile later in life? I mean there is NOTHING wrong with wanting to play and feel childish from time to time....but there will be a time in everyone's life that they will have to grow up.
I do the exact same thing :) I had a summerjob in a kindergarten and I was a total hit XD Not because I played with the kids, but more, I think, because they could sense that I actually had fun with it. And when I have to clean or do boring chores I pretend I'm like cindarella and are being forced by some evil to do the dishes, just waiting for the fairy godmother to come to my rescue and whisk me away to a life of sunshine and rainbows in her beautiful castle. It's so much more fun that way :D
@shadowfox1119 It may sound nice but, believe me, it's not. Imagine being 25 years old and feeling like a 15 year old at heart, unable to face the responsibilities of adulthood. It's a scary situation, one that can culminate in depression. You feel vulnerable, exposed and terribly scared.
Everyone check out TED here on youtube. Search on there webpage the keywords imagination and play and you will see some video's by scientist on just how important both these activitys are...
I'm 16, that is, right in the middle of the wannabe adoult stage. I think it's important to nuture your inner child. The day I stop playing and beeing childish would be when my life gets extremely boring ^^
And age limits on playrooms are just mean. I still miss all the colorfull plastic balls at McDonalds...
We can still do childish stuff, to hell with the people staring. The most frightening thing to me is getting stuck in a rutine, doing the same boring things every day...
I really agree with you there. Growing up to me sucks. I still play with my toys and just enjoy the feeling of being a child and not caring what anyone(adults) think of me. I have a total case of pps.
I totally know what you are getting at. I am a regular visitor of a site called x-entertainment . com and most of the blog posts and articles are about things about the 80's and 90's and sharing memories of your childhood. Several people on that site still collect transformers toys and buy toys they grew up wanting or used to have at a time in their lives on ebay. Because of Christmas we are getting into what made Christmas so special growing up.
imagination is a good thing to have, i agree kids have more fun i love being able to sit with my friends son an plsy with his toys i also love toy stores going in and pressing the buttons or pulling the strings on the toys but u get odd looks if your an adult with no kid doing that, being an adult sucks all the fun is taken away from you never loose that sense of fun
I sooo wanna go squirrel hunting with you. And go to a toy store with you.
I had a friend, we used to play in the woods all the time like that. Actually I just usually drag my friends into the woods with me and say, okay, now you're lost, let's play! And some of them are like, yeah! and some aren't, but this one friend, she and I used to have the craziest adventures...
I definitely have the Peter Pan Syndrome. No doubt.
Never lose your imagination or your innocence. Keep some part of you young forever and you will never lose the magick in your heart. :) Really glad I found your channel, your a breath of fresh air. Keep up the great vids. (Shhh I am in disguise as a grown up. lol. Its my super power!)
It's okay to play with toys and act like a kid sometimes! I think that adults that can't access the kid part of their brain at least once in awhile, are kind of boring/lame.
Oh... it's not mature to play with toys? I didn't get the memo. :) I don't understand how anyone could grow out of fun things like that! Legos will always be amazing.
I have it to a degree, I'm shy, I like floor hockey, some videogames, wrestling stuffed animals, i like pizza a lot, i slouch, i like the Simpsons and Famly Guy. I dont like alcohol or other things 'grown ups' are into. I don't wanna grow up, I don't think anybody should. I don't think we were meant to. Growing up is stupid. I don't want to be a robot, I just wanna' be real. It's an embarassing situation, socially. lol as you know, people think Kidults are crazy ... but yep.
I find people who love to play with kid toys to be more fun. Maybe its because I still love playdoh, legos, and playing dress up. Sometimes I am tempted to jump on the quarter horses at grocery stores for one last ride. I remember my mom telling me I was too old to ride the quarter horses and I said, I wish I knew when the last ride was so I could have enjoyed one last ride.
yeah, as you get physically older, the more you try and maintain the kid in you the more society tries to crush you....i have the peter pan syndrome too and they keep telling me its a bad thing. I laugh at them.

Squirrel hunting? FUN! I'm there;)
It's okay to play with toys and act like a kid sometimes! I think that adults that can't access the kid part of their brain at least once in awhile, are kind of boring/lame.

Not to mention their dead inside and probably in therapy.

Oh... it's not mature to play with toys? I didn't get the memo. :) I don't understand how anyone could grow out of fun things like that! Legos will always be amazing.

You know what I wanna do? I want to get a bunch of giant boxes and just smash through them like The Incredible Hulk! Damn, that'd be fun.

It's an embarassing situation, socially. lol as you know, people think Kidults are crazy ... but yep.

You and millions of other people (who are happier than most )feel the same.
