If charice sing the national anthem of the Philippines that way. she will surely get a case of changing the style of the default tune/tempo of the anthem song. that is also why manny pacquiao didn't get her to sing in every if his match. but i hope she will sing soon before he retires. ^^.

It's like a memoir of that time for us not to forget even if our lives changes. That's why it should be sang the way it is from the day it was written. Not sure with the U.S. but the Philippine National anthem should be sang the way it was written.

Just because you got popular, you shouldn't sing other countries' anthems. your own country would get offended. She's good, but i'm just sad she did that.

@animeadik96 she was invited to sing the USA's anthem only because the theme was about honoring Dodgers' International allies and Philippines is one of them. You can see the flags of diff.countries being represented. Both Charice & the one who sang "God Bless America" are "international singers".

@earmitt I know......but it doesn't change the fact that she did sing another country's anthem. I can't completely say that she shouldn't do it, but all I'm trying to say is that i just got a tad bit disappointed. But of course, I admit she's good ^^

@animeadik96 okay, i respect your opinion but it seems her own country didn't get offended at all. USA also didn't take issue on it. She's not the first Filipina & certainly not the only non-American to sang Star Spangled Banner. What matters is that she was able to give the same, if not greater, respect & honor to the Philippine Anthem when she sang it yesterday @ the Pres. Inauguration. :)

@earmitt It was actually an "issue" in our school and many hated her for it....but I think our class took it back since she did sang in the Inauguration ^^

@animeadik96 The only way I could see it as appropriate would be as part of a "League of Nations" style project where a demonstration of various cultures / nationalities was staged.

@29518 I'm just stating my own opinion, and I respect yours fully. Actually, many in our class have the same opinion. But if she deserves a better "view" from people like me, I'm sure that the day will come that I myself would be able to see that, through her works.

wtf ?.. charice singing US` star spangled banner??..could u imagine beyonce or american artist singing another country`s national anthem??.. i dont think so...she sang it good, but made me sick to the stomach coz a filipina artist singing a different tune instead of her own, unless charice is already a US citizen? another pinoy artist suckin up for fame..i wonder why the dodgers allowed this..i just hope manny pacquiao gets to sing the US national anthem at his next fight..and y not?

@jexoscries maybe @cadmus is not Filipino. He doesn't know the essence of the Philippines National anthem. Unlike, the "Star Spangled Banner", it's inappropriate to make it into something else other than how it was written by our ancestors. That's why I hate watching our fellow Filipino singers belting it out before boxing matches. It's a disrespect to the true intentions of the composer (not to mention the Law written on how it should be performed).

If charice sing the national anthem of the Philippines that way. she will surely get a case of changing the style of the default tune/tempo of the anthem song. that is also why manny pacquiao didn't get her to sing in every if his match. but i hope she will sing soon before he retires. ^^.

@TheCutterpillow The Philippine National anthem was made during the war against the Spanish regime, trying time for our country's freedom. It's like a memoir of that time for us not to forget even if our lives changes. That's why it should be sang the way it is from the day it was written. I guess stylizing it defeats the purpose of why it was written. It's like doing a remix of a Mozart piece. Not sure with the U.S. but the Philippine National anthem should be sang the way it was written.

@hyde78chan yes i know that. i'm just saying it for the others, for them to know that there's a policy in our country for singing the national anthem of the Philippines. i'm not saying that changing the tune/tempo of the song would be better and having a policy to it is not a right idea.. ^_^.

Knowing that there is a policy and insists on their desire. I hate to say this but a lot of our talents are either stubborn or immature when it comes to the subject.

@cadmus5 If Charice was to be given a chance to sing the Philippines national anthem then it will be a challenge for her, to see how far she can go. If she can make adjustments required. I think so far Lea Salonga is the best singer to sing it faithful to the way it was written. I don't find the anthem "ugly" though, it's just different. Written in a different era. It's not a waste to sing the National anthem. I guess it's not "Pop" enough for you.

She gives me goosebumps everytime she sings and she brings me to tears sometimes! wow! I'm so proud to be a Filipina! we are proud of you Charice! every nation and every race should be proud of their race BUT not bash on other races and coutries..we are all the same..what differs us is only our heritage but we are all human and none is better than the other! and yes, racism is STUPIDITY!
