@bigplayer2382 You fucking moron. Obviously the Marine's casualty rate is higher since they're the first ones in combat. They take on the enemy head-on unlike the Army which Is too scared. Plus you dumbfuck the Ah-1z is actually equal and is better in air-to-air than the Apack. So fuck you.
@Ninjadog659 HEY SHUT THE FUCK! if you like te marines that's all good, but don't hate on the army and say shit like there "scared" cuase their obviously not fucking scared if there willing to pcik up a rifle and go to war to protect you're sorry ass. and alot of times it's special units like S.E.A.L. that go into combat first, or the green berets.
@JackZeroZ Army always has the upper hand on gear cuz they need all the help they can get. Marines go all out skills, they'll get the job done with an effing KBAR if need be.
@bigplayer2382 Under trained compared to what? When your a force that spends the majority of the time where the fighting is happening and leading attacks, your bound for higher casualties its basic probability.

@MrFattyfatfatboy the uh 60 is blackhawk utility helecopter not an attack helo the marines do have uh 60s the super cobra does everything the marines need a helo to do the marine buddget is not near what the armies is so they must get the most for there money
@JGunz9191 Would people like you stop commenting stupid things like Battlefield 3 all the time. I watch an F-35 video by Lockheed Martin, the top comment is.... Battlefield 3.
Okay I play the game to, just save the comments for BF3 videos.
@xBABYxKICKERx, It is about where the Apache-A model is as far as sensors. It has a smaller mm cannon. The cobra is meant to fly CAS (even at sea) so beyond visual range isn't that important. The Apache D block III is meant to be a two man wrecking machine with the ability to pass off targets to other weapon systems and even take control of drones to fight while at maximum stand off range and to decimate the enemy way behind enemy lines.
actually dumbshit, the zulu has MORE ADVANCED computers/sensors it is using sensors that were designed in 2007 at the oldest, the oldest sensor on the D bloc||| apache is from 94. the apache has a further range and a bigger gun. in terms of armor thickness theyre about identical the cobra is made to be thin so its harder to hit but it can still withstand 50 caliber and, in some spots, 23mm AAA fire. the apache has taken hits from AK's in the belly and had extensive
@orlock20 damage from small arms and GPMG's because its a bigger target to hit. if you put a 30mm and added 150-175 miles to the combat radius of the AH-1Z it would be equal to or superior in ALL ways to the ah-64 and in desert storm the combat readiness of the cobra was far higher than that of the apache. the apache cant handle really bad weather conditions whereas the cobra can fly in just about all weather other than maybe 60+mph winds.
i am really sure that the US have something secret in the AH-1Z because the AH-64D its been sold too many countrys just like F-16 Aircraft but the AH-1Z it is used by USMC only
and why they dont sell the Helicopter to other countrys today i think because it is powerful like
@MetalGearArmA If I were guessing, which I am, its likely because the craft is ONLY used by the USMC, because they are the only ones who require a chopper that can actually fit on a carrier deck. The Blackhawk and Apache are too large to be practical for carrier usage. And most nations do not really maintain a massive carrier fleet.
@Allabaster84 yeah your right the AH-64D & UH-60M are too heavy but why U.S didnt sell it to south korea south korea got Light Aircraft Carrier but they use old AH-1T
the U.S dont sells there AH-1Z and the AH-1Z carry more Missiles than AH-64D
just look at them but the UH-1Y is also more Armed than UH-60M
and the i see the USMC there also using MH-60S & MH-60R which is lighter the UH-60
and MV-22 and there using the newest AAV7A1NG AMTRAC
@Allabaster84 That's a good point. Plus AH-64 and UH-60 weren't designed with naval ops in mind. No Rotor Brake, No Quick Folding rotors. No Anti-Corrosion coating on engines and exposed parts.
@MetalGearArmA hahah we sold a ton of F-22s even Pakistan has em lol or was it iran i htink both if i remember correctly. So does israel and some european countries to fly along side euro fighter
@ElementoVolatile Well look on you tube you can see videos of some countires military powers and ull see some no kidding. And its not a f-35 or some of the alts that look similar but bigger. I saw legit videos with f-22s.
@VBH8888 So british typhoon's flew alongside of some f-22's or could you see that the national emblems were not US (on f-22). Because trainingsessions between Nato airforces aren't that uncommon.
@TheDaranas you saw country markings. The typhoon had a iron cross which is German and the F-22 a luftwaffe logo. Maybe was put up by accident etc ??? but who knows we dont know everything our goverment does spec when where broke n probaly selling some stuff to allies to pay of debt
Amazing what they have done with this 66' model airframe! I was a Cobra crew chief (S-Mods) and later flew the F-Model as a Pilot in Combat, so it's an eye opener on what you can do with an outdated design. I flew in USMC J and T Model Cobras in the 80's, and they were just twin engine G-models as fas I was concerned...but this thing is really a jump ahead...but worth the cost? I think the Marines could have gotten Marinized versions of the Apache for less money and R&D...who knows? Still cool!
@Mrdesertsnake1991 I guess but this Zulu model can have the same longbow radar as the apache, anti air capability for other choppers and new laser targeting etc like apache. So I think the Zulu is equal to Apache , but maybe even above it it because it requires a lot less maintaining than the apache.
I dont see anything wrong with using something that works and has been doing so for so long. The truth is there are so many politics with budgeting for the military. No its not brand new but its all they can do with the money theyre given
Since when was it adequate to slap some new gear on 40 year old hardware and go? For duck sake, the chopper is good, but since the APACHE there have been NO new american attack helo´s with the same innovation. Cant understand why they scrapped the very promising Comanche :/
Just because you strap some extra guns on the thing it does not mean that its not outdated anymore... I can put a turbo charger in a 68 Mustang, but that wont make it better than a 2010 mustang...
The only valid reason to cling on to old designs is that they are cheaper and that in itself is a bad reason already. The defense of a country should never be decided by the size of a wallet...
@FrUsTrIc It's not just more guns--it has new engines, new avionics, new countermeasure systems, 4 rotor blades and stronger airframe, what more would you need?
But I do agree with you though about the defense of the country. Unfortunately, this current administration and the rest of Washington doesn't agree. They day they decide to chop our military by the roots is they day they're gonna regret when our asses gets handed to us by our next enemy. (China perhaps??)
@BBTthetank A war with china or russia is very unlikely since the U.S. is their biggest importer of their goods. Without the balant spending of the U.S. cirtizens on chinese made products (aka 90% of everything on the market), China would lose a metric fuck-ton of money.
The problem lies in the fact that the U.S. is over spending on their military so they can update all the outdated shit, instead of making new stuff. Seriously if the U.S. stopped waging war, security would be ensured.
@1337wafflezz agreed, these are my two favourite helicopters. In my mind AH-1Z is a better helicopter then the apache, which brings brings me to the point that these helicopters arnt classics. theyre very new and are almost completely different to the older variants. Im with you though
@1337wafflezz agreed, these are my two favourite helicopters. In my mind AH-1Z is a better helicopter then the apache, which brings brings me to the point that these helicopters arnt classics. theyre very new and are almost completely different to the older variants. Im with you though
I must say there is a lot of BS on this site. The main objectives for upgrading these aircraft was achieved. The fact that they also came out at over 80% in common for the supply end is amazing and it once and for all shuts up those who tried to push the H-60 on us since the early eighties. As for the guys bitching about maintainance, we bitched when we got Whiskeys to replace T-tows, but learned to love the "W" just the same.
UH-1N is a Bell 212, about the closest thing to a UH-1Y is the 414ST, which has the 680 bearingless rotor head and the T700's. As for apache and blackhawk having a more upto date avionics package, not so much anymore. The Zulu and Yankees are all class cockpits now, the biggest problem with the army birds is maintainance hours required to keep them in the air, the apache is nearly ten times that of the cobra and blackhawks are four time that of the huey. Just ask the mechs what they think.
@Boknows70 i think i hate these stupid upgraded pieces of shit whiskey rule damn upgrades have problems in the rain swashplate design is stupid and the whole helicopter is akward to work on but engineers said fuck the mechs
God damn I can't wait to fly one of these! I've been training harder and harder so I can be selected for OCS it's a long road, but will be well worth it! I wouldn't join any other branch, Marines all the way! OORAH!!!
@TheSilentOne50 i think the UH-1Y and the AH-1Z cause the air frame is battle tested since the 60s in Nam but the Pave Hawk and Apache have the newest tech and have good experience
@OneMale2012 what do you mean 212? Did you mean the UH-1Y? Both the Viper and the Huey has been know to fly side by side with each other form the beginning of the Vietnam war.
It like a Brother & Sister Relationship with those two choppers
yeah the bell212 dual engine , you call it UH-1y , well in Vietnam Im sure the AH-1 viper was protection for the bell212 but now a days the bell 212 is a great UN use helicopter and is not good as an "AH" attack helicopter, it may confuse younger generations when they first watch this as to what the UH-1y is doing there, also uh1y is a better choice to transport commandos then the UH-blackhawk, right now the AH-64 Apaches sent in with The Ah-1 Viper is a good combo for attack
@packstack15 not possible..it would ruin the philosophy of the cobra...they chose this heli again when the apache was on the run because it takes les place on the carriers they have and its overall lighter, everything where transport plays a role the cobra is a kille thing...the small wings and the slim frontal view is maybe a reason why they chose it again in the new century !
@cody21560 I am the second one. A friend of mine got some blue on blue from this machine while fighting the war on terror. It was either the heli's comsys error or ...
I have nothing against this chopper type really, but it just is too powerful of a wartool for some fools in the command line!
@callofdutyguy9 You've got to be commissioned (which includes college) for both... The
Army's a different story though... We've got a high-school to flight school program that brings people in specifically to become warrant officers and fly helicopters.
@Hbryant188 Okay doesn't the new Viper have the same look/shoot eyepeice that the apache does. Because I saw a picture that looked like it I can link you if you want me too.
This looks like another kick ass attack helicopter just like the Super Cobra was.I expect to be hearing some more good things about this chopper.Cant wait to see it enter combat,i pity the fool who comes up against the Viper :D
@jess1up Depends upon several factors. Your choice and the needs of the Corps. If you are among the top of your class, you just might have your pick of the litter. Perform averagely, and you hopefully like the 46 Sea Knight:-)
Also, you will be psychologically profiled. Only those with the right disposition can be attack pilots.
@Sorenrothschild Yea I've been doing research and it seems there's too many factors to determine where I'll end up. I'll just have to wing it I guess, my biggest issue with joining the Corps is that they can't nessecarilly guarantee I become a pilot even if I graduate with high scores on everything. I don't know who to turn to for proper info. I can't tell if my recruiter is bullshitting me or not, most likely he is. I don't know any recent former Marine pilots or even just Marines.
@jess1up I suggest you pick up a copy of the Flight Aptitude Selection Test study guide, and if you already hold a bachelor's degree, you can take a commission - you may have to go through BOLIC 1, 2, 3 first, unless you graduated from a military school. BOLIC 1 is OCS. If you're out of a military school, then it's 2 and 3. Then afterwards you can put in for flight school. You have to be a Warrant Officer or a Commissioned Officer to be a pilot.
@guitardc59 Good info, I would just add that the only branch that takes warrant officers as pilots is the army. To be a pilot as a commissioned officer you will either go to Air Force primary or Navy primary. Here, you will fly a T-6 fixed wing aircraft first, then select helos. Much more training if you don't go army.

What's better?
The UH-1Y or the Pave Hawk?
The AH-1Z or the Apache Longbow?
TheSilentOne50 10 months ago
@TheSilentOne50 Pave hawk and Apache are deffinatly better.
Blinkkid101 8 months ago
@TheSilentOne50 i think the UH-1Y and the AH-1Z cause the air frame is battle tested since the 60s in Nam but the Pave Hawk and Apache have the newest tech and have good experience
texasrangersr1 6 months ago
why show the bell 212 with the AH-1 Viper
OneMale2012 10 months ago
@OneMale2012 what do you mean 212? Did you mean the UH-1Y? Both the Viper and the Huey has been know to fly side by side with each other form the beginning of the Vietnam war.
It like a Brother & Sister Relationship with those two choppers
packstack15 10 months ago
@packstack15
yeah the bell212 dual engine , you call it UH-1y , well in Vietnam Im sure the AH-1 viper was protection for the bell212 but now a days the bell 212 is a great UN use helicopter and is not good as an "AH" attack helicopter, it may confuse younger generations when they first watch this as to what the UH-1y is doing there, also uh1y is a better choice to transport commandos then the UH-blackhawk, right now the AH-64 Apaches sent in with The Ah-1 Viper is a good combo for attack
OneMale2012 10 months ago
This is the rotary winged serpent "Viper", it is a part of the "Air" comando unit
OneMale2012 10 months ago
Fuck Yea, Bell AH-1Z and UH-1Y Are like Brother and Sister on the battlefield. Bell Forever
packstack15 10 months ago 14
@packstack15 not possible..it would ruin the philosophy of the cobra...they chose this heli again when the apache was on the run because it takes les place on the carriers they have and its overall lighter, everything where transport plays a role the cobra is a kille thing...the small wings and the slim frontal view is maybe a reason why they chose it again in the new century !

packstack15 10 months ago
@cody21560 probably some dumb ass who thinks that the Russian Hind is the best helicopter lol
The0Burger0King 10 months ago
@cody21560 I am the second one. A friend of mine got some blue on blue from this machine while fighting the war on terror. It was either the heli's comsys error or ...
I have nothing against this chopper type really, but it just is too powerful of a wartool for some fools in the command line!
Kaapo73 9 months ago
@Kaapo73 I believe most blue on blue is due to misjudgment under stress rather than technical error.
Sad as it is when it happens, can`t blame the guys sometime. :(

Is a college degree required to fly vipers with USMC, or just fixed wing aircraft
callofdutyguy9 11 months ago
@callofdutyguy9 You've got to be commissioned (which includes college) for both... The
Army's a different story though... We've got a high-school to flight school program that brings people in specifically to become warrant officers and fly helicopters.

Does the UH-1Y Venom also have the intergrated helmet display?
caddyking444 1 year ago
@caddyking444 Yes, but it doesn't have targeting systems in it like the cobra. It displays HUD info.
Hbryant188 1 year ago
@Hbryant188 Okay doesn't the new Viper have the same look/shoot eyepeice that the apache does. Because I saw a picture that looked like it I can link you if you want me too.
caddyking444 1 year ago
@caddyking444 Yes, the viper does, but the venom doesn't. You can send a link if you like. Hope this helped!
Hbryant188 1 year ago
@Hbryant188 Yeah I'll link ya you have to look close but look at this pic on the gunners eyepeice...

SilverTaurus22 1 year ago
I plan to be a pilot. When joining the marines, will they place you on a helicopter of their choice or yours?
jess1up 1 year ago
@jess1up I can only guess it would depend on what training you have and where they need you. :D
SilverTaurus22 1 year ago
@jess1up You have some say.
Your quickest/best bet is to become a USMC Warrant Officer. By doing good on your ASVAB test and other stuff.
Kaos582 1 year ago
@jess1up Depends upon several factors. Your choice and the needs of the Corps. If you are among the top of your class, you just might have your pick of the litter. Perform averagely, and you hopefully like the 46 Sea Knight:-)
Also, you will be psychologically profiled. Only those with the right disposition can be attack pilots.
Sorenrothschild 1 year ago
@Sorenrothschild Yea I've been doing research and it seems there's too many factors to determine where I'll end up. I'll just have to wing it I guess, my biggest issue with joining the Corps is that they can't nessecarilly guarantee I become a pilot even if I graduate with high scores on everything. I don't know who to turn to for proper info. I can't tell if my recruiter is bullshitting me or not, most likely he is. I don't know any recent former Marine pilots or even just Marines.
jess1up 1 year ago
@jess1up I suggest you pick up a copy of the Flight Aptitude Selection Test study guide, and if you already hold a bachelor's degree, you can take a commission - you may have to go through BOLIC 1, 2, 3 first, unless you graduated from a military school. BOLIC 1 is OCS. If you're out of a military school, then it's 2 and 3. Then afterwards you can put in for flight school. You have to be a Warrant Officer or a Commissioned Officer to be a pilot.
guitardc59 1 year ago
@guitardc59 Good info, I would just add that the only branch that takes warrant officers as pilots is the army. To be a pilot as a commissioned officer you will either go to Air Force primary or Navy primary. Here, you will fly a T-6 fixed wing aircraft first, then select helos. Much more training if you don't go army.
phidelt08 1 year ago
@phidelt08
Navy takes warrant pilots. They just can't fly jets.
Wendigo127 1 year ago
@jess1up Not true, you can get a guaranteed aviation contract with the Marine Corps. I did.
