Most Bulgarians were expelled from Macedonia during the 2nd Balkan war (that was 1913), there were not so many Bulgarians during our civil war and actually NEVER so many slavs in Macedonia, don't be stupid (2 millions are now there, Greeks, the population till 1913 was diverse), this number is fictionary as many other things you are tought. I think the confusion stems for the fact that no one bothered to rename the region. Alexander the Great certainly predates (by centuries) the arrival of the Slavs in the region approx 6th century I think. Genetically, Alexander was Greek. Ancient Macedonia is not the same as Macedonia today.
