Obe of those lucky celebrities who got one, was the first host of NBC's Today Show, Dave Garroway---he's the man who voices this spot and appears on camera at the end of it. He was a sports and classic car fancier, kind of the Jay Leno of his day. He DID like the Corvette--well enough that he continued to purchase and drive succeeding generations of Corvettes until he passed away in the early 1980s,
I think they knew the first year's production was going to be low. Chevy wanted to see how popular the car was at the Motorama show first. And they wanted to avoid large numbers of embarrassing quality problems that might crop up.
Most of the celebrities who were selected as owners didn't really like the '53 Corvette very much.
I think it became popular with the '56, which finally had a V-8, a good chassis, and no more irritating snap on side windows or off-the-rack Chevy parts.
No mention of the fact that it's made from fibreglass. I guess at this stage it was still a dream car too since there's no 'see it at your local dealer' tag. Or did they already know they were only making 300 for celebrities?
I love corvettes.

So this Advert must have been released somewhere in 1952, or 1953?

If only commercials today were the same, they'd sell a lot more cars...

$3400, but in 1953 that was a mighty fine sum of money, be nice if they sold for that cheap today!
