How the hell did they screw up on such a great series, all they had to do was a REMAKE, or a EXTENSION since the creator kept going with the story after the series was over.. When you think about it this show was so predictable. It always started just all the Thundercats having a laugh, then something bad happens, then go out and beat the fuck outta some evil. After the bad guys have been beaten up, they then go back have a laugh and drink beer while Snarf does something stupid. THE END.

@jnorth The overall plots of each episode were different though even if some things would be the same and they would break away from formula sometimes. The anointment trials and "Excalibur" are good examples. There was always new characters being introduced and the early episodes show the thundercats starting to rebuild their society on third earth. Things like building cat's lair, the thundertank and looking for thundrillium. So there was always plenty of different things happening.

@kurnous34 Like I said though it's not like every single episode had the exact same plot. For example just choosing a couple of episodes at random. "Pummra" is about Mummra disguising himself as a thunderian to get into cat's lair. "Return to thundera" is about liono going back in time to thundera and briefly seeing his father again. Sure the good guys win and the bad guys lose but what else do you expect? But I never felt that I was just watching the same episode over and over again.

I personally think the revamp of this was what the revamped version of Battlestar Galactica did. The old series of BSG went on for 1 season...maybe two. The new BSG went on for FOUR seasons...maybe they can do a similar move here, expand on the chars and such. I mean come on! Panthro actually had doubts of Lion-O's leadership and stuff, and apparently Tygra's a flirt! Did that happen in the original? :) (this theme song still rocks though!)

One thing I don't like about the new thundercats is that it seems a bit generic and that's just boring to me. Also thought the same about new TMNT and the new star trek movie. I liked the original show because it was creative and original with how it blended science fiction and fantasy and there was a nice variety with the different characters and creatures.

I grew up with the 80s version and absolutely LOVED it!! I just watched the new version with my 9 year old son and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. It was actually pretty good. Snarf is a WHOLE lot less annoying when he can't talk, they've given Lion-O a more believable age, and updated everything to reflect a more modern era. Also, did anybody else recognize the voice of Claudus, the King? (He played the original Lion-O in the 80s version)
