I've seen several saleen 03-04 cobras...saleen suspension, brakes, body kit, decals, wheels, spoiler, etc....the drivetrain is all svt...dohc 4.6 with eaton supercharger makin 390 horses underraded which is more than the regular supercharged saleen at the time and nearly as much as the 281e, but with much more potential and probably a more rare care...the interior is all svt...seats...160 white glo gauges etc...look it up

@will79601 No stock Riviera makes 250 at the wheels, you obviously have mods...and I would expect a boosted SC Riviera would beat a CSVT stock...but keep in mind a) any car can be modded to be quick, b) a stock Riviera with 240bhp will still lose to a CSVT with 200bhp and c)a lot big ass Sedans are sold with lots of power (e.g. Volvo S80's- 300bhp I've seen take down Evo's, Taurus SHO- 365bhp!, Saab Aero-280bhp, etc)

You must have come up against some shit drivers...cause a Riveria isn't going to beat a CSVT even with 250 horse cause they are just too damn big and heavy, plus slow shifting because of the automatic (not trying to dis your car for the record). CSVT 0-60 is low 7's, Riveria 240 bhp is high 7's (add 10 hp you might be in mid 7's around around there)

Anyway you should fix up your Riveria, those things easily have the potential to be really quick sleepers. Just pull up and someone laughs at you for driving a Riveria and then you smoke their ass? well, actually, RICE stands for race inspired cosmetic enhancements. In this case, Saleen made a race car, so its looks like any other race car at that point.(think about the GT class in the Rolex cup or Grand Am)

i'll have to disagree, the things they add are almost always something that would be seen on a race car. Big wing, sideskirts, front/rear bumpers, sponsor stickers, crazy paint jobs, racing seats, but then don't have any go fast parts to back it all up. It may be a "backronym" but it still fits the bill perfectly.
Ricey body kits are not race parts. Giant heavy wheels are not race parts. Parts that do nothing other than change the aesthetics of the vehicle are not race parts.
A ricer doesn't look anything like a race car; that's one of the reasons why people make fun of them.
I guess this depends on your definition of rice, but honestly man, they are RACE INSPIRED. They however do not generally follow ANY racing model. Perfect example, look at the Autohaus Motorsports Pontiac GXP and tell me if that didn't have racing performance parts it wouldn't be considered "Rice". That is my point, all rice parts were spawned from something functional on a race car. This is why race inspired cosmetic enhancements works so well.
It's not my definition, it's the origin of the term. "Rice" refers to tacky modifications. Chrome hubcap spinners and useless hood scoops are not race-inspired parts.

Thats not a real Saleen, First it has a VORTECH in it, if it was a real Saleen it would have the Saleen positive displacment twin screw supercharger. Second Saleen and SVT do not work together , they are 2 different companies and above all, rivals, and lastly why would they only make one? its just stupid to make one, somebody put that stuff on aftermarket and put the saleen sticker on. its actually very easy to do. so there you go, its not actually a Saleen but just an aftermaket clone.

He is a very well known driver in the st louis area. he is a porsche and audi driver, and has some very quick porsche's and audi's as well as a c63amg. There is a lot of mis information about this car.... the reason he bought it is because the car has a pancake porsche motor in it. the car is capable of breaking 200 mph and he bought it for $18000, so dont feel sorry, thats a fair price for a fast car and a piece of history

This car was a concept that never made it to the production line but someone offered a saleen dealer 20k a couple of years ago. The aftermarket body kit (shown in video) for the ford mondeo (euro contour) will make a mondeo/(svt) contour look a lot like a saleen concept and if u add the VFiber Stalker wing and paint it black and all the other stuff shown in video your basically going have the saleen (bootlegged).
wat upgrades did u do to your car, cuz the saleen had the s'charger taken off so its basically a stock svt thats more aero. and has a better suspension

I like how people act like the person who owns that car did the modifications and bash him for it. And all the people saying its a "ricer's car with saleen stickers on it." IT IS A SALEEN CONTOUR. There was only one made by Saleen and that is the one. Obviously they never made it a production vehicle but they did design that car and build it. I don't think it's pretty either, but it is a one of a kind car and if someone can afford it WTF cares?! I don't know if the same guy owns it anymore tho.

well, actually, RICE stands for race inspired cosmetic enhancements. In this case, Saleen made a race car, so its looks like any other race car at that point.(think about the GT class in the Rolex cup or Grand Am)

i'll have to disagree, the things they add are almost always something that would be seen on a race car. Big wing, sideskirts, front/rear bumpers, sponsor stickers, crazy paint jobs, racing seats, but then don't have any go fast parts to back it all up. It may be a "backronym" but it still fits the bill perfectly.

Ricey body kits are not race parts. Giant heavy wheels are not race parts. Parts that do nothing other than change the aesthetics of the vehicle are not race parts.
A ricer doesn't look anything like a race car; that's one of the reasons why people make fun of them.

I guess this depends on your definition of rice, but honestly man, they are RACE INSPIRED. They however do not generally follow ANY racing model. Perfect example, look at the Autohaus Motorsports Pontiac GXP and tell me if that didn't have racing performance parts it wouldn't be considered "Rice". That is my point, all rice parts were spawned from something functional on a race car. This is why race inspired cosmetic enhancements works so well.

It's not my definition, it's the origin of the term. "Rice" refers to tacky modifications. Chrome hubcap spinners and useless hood scoops are not race-inspired parts.

The issue with rice, and what makes it derogatory, is that it's race-lookin parts tacked on to something that doesn't merit having the parts.
A huge wing on an old, stock, ragged CRX that can't hit 95 is rice.
Having a FUNCTIONAL, reasonably sized wing on a CRX that's actually aggresively quick isn't rice.
Not something I would ever drive, but not rice.

@Swansen03 The old 90s SHO was a Yamaha motor that Ford planned to use for a motorcycle.
The DURTec V6 is Fords engine and the SVT version is basically upgraded cams, intakes and shafts. Its not related to Yamaha at all.
As for the Saleen, nice but you can mod a 99 SE or SVT to more than 260HP.

@lgisdatdude Duratec was actually originally a Porsche engine...I swear...they sold the design to Ford who then got input from Cosworth. I swear...you can look it up. Given its time frame of development, started around 1990, it is a pretty sweet design.

Thats not a real Saleen, First it has a VORTECH in it, if it was a real Saleen it would have the Saleen positive displacment twin screw supercharger. Second Saleen and SVT do not work together , they are 2 different companies and above all, rivals, and lastly why would they only make one? its just stupid to make one, somebody put that stuff on aftermarket and put the saleen sticker on. its actually very easy to do. so there you go, its not actually a Saleen but just an aftermaket clone.

haha,, you dont have to feel bad for the guy who bought this car. He is a very well known driver in the st louis area. he is a porsche and audi driver, and has some very quick porsche's and audi's as well as a c63amg. There is a lot of mis information about this car.... the reason he bought it is because the car has a pancake porsche motor in it. the car is capable of breaking 200 mph and he bought it for $18000, so dont feel sorry, thats a fair price for a fast car and a piece of history

This car was a concept that never made it to the production line but someone offered a saleen dealer 20k a couple of years ago. The aftermarket body kit (shown in video) for the ford mondeo (euro contour) will make a mondeo/(svt) contour look a lot like a saleen concept and if u add the VFiber Stalker wing and paint it black and all the other stuff shown in video your basically going have the saleen (bootlegged).
