This Boeing 777 looks Huge in this shot. I can imagine how this 777 would look at Port Columbus (CMH) compaired to the other planes that come into CMH the 777 would dwarf the other planes. Great shot
I use to work the ramp at the ATL airport and would go on the different planes that were parked at the gate to kill time and hide from my supervisors that circle the ramp to make sure we are working. I would be the only person onboard the aircraft for hours until the crew starts coming down the jetway then I would leave.
The only reason why he would take-off so quick is that he would've had a light payload. Also the engines that are on the 777-200LR are the GE90-110B capable of producing 110,300 Ibs of thrust PER ENGINE! So 110,300 Ibs times two, do the math and that'll give you the total thrust that plane is capable of producing. At about 2500 feet the pilot already has to throttle back due to the intense power of those GE90's. They actually set the world record for being the most powerful engines in the world!
I do actually its because on how many peole wanna fly on that route. In DTW which is where I am, Delta does DTW-NRT and HND with the 747-400 as well as DTW-PVG. DTW-ICN and ATL are on the 777-200ER and DTW-HKG is on the 777-200LR. But no that 777-200LR you filmed was taking off of runway 27R. I think the one you filmed was going to LAX then onto SYD. My mom flew on that route but she flew into LAX from DTW not ATL. Hope that answers your question
@wmupilot20 Thanks for responding to my comment, so the b 777 in your video was on 27R, it didnt look like it that he usesd the whole runway looks like he shortend it was it going to SYD, I recorded mine from Atlanta and I was going to NRT on my b 777-200ER we left ATL at 11am out of E17. We did take off from 27. I was just wondering why that 777 in this video was not using the whole runway on 27?
@airbus320dfw this delta 777-200LR was actually taking off from runway 8R becuase as soon as it approaches its rotating speed, you can see the atlanta FAA tower and the Delta Tech Ops on the right, indicating this plane took off on runway 8R.
@airbus320dfw yes runways 8R/26L are shorter because they are the take-off runways. as opposed to runways like 8L/27L in which they are they landing runways becuase planes like the 777's, the 747's, the A330's, and the A340's(these planes frequently come to atlanta) all usually have a longer landing roll than say smaller jets like crj-200's or md-90's and etc.

Yeah those GE90-110B's are insanely powerful. Love it on a new Delta 777-232LR. I wonder if that was either heading to Tokyo, LAX, or Johannesburg? Nice video
@wmupilot20 I think that was too early for NRT but also was that 27 or 8 or 9 takeoff runway?? I think Johannesburg is a night time departure.. also do you know why Delta only flies 777 out of ATL for NRT and not DTW Or MSP or SLC??? Seems like only a330's from SLC and 747-400 out of DTW and MSP any ideas?
I love the 777, especially the 200LR model represented herein. Those GE90-110B1 turbofans are spectacular engines. A single unit has the capability to send a 747 into flight. Now that's impressive. ;-)
Personally, I don't like the 777 that much. It just doesn't look quite as sleek as the 767 or the 757. I'm not bad mouthing the 777 though, it is a great plane. It just isn't one that I like. Great job with these new spotting videos! I'd love to see some more.
I guess the days of 4 engines are gone because one of these engines has the power of 2 old 747 engines. I just worry about an engine going out due to birds or mechanical problems but I'm told planes are designed to fly on just one engine.
how fast can the boeing 777-200LR's go? thks.

I had to look closely, I thought he had taken off on a taxi way.. Then I put my contacts in and realized it was 8R.. (I believe.) Great video!

@CorporatePilot7 but is 8R a full runway it looks like its shorter than using a a full one like 27R.
