  • In 1928 it was the first Last Post account. Each day, since 1928, the Last Post took place. Ypres in 1940 was occupied by troops of Nazi Germany. The Second World War had begun. The Menin Gate was damaged and the bridge which was exploded by the British. During the Second World War, the Germans had respect for the Menin Gate. But the Last Post did not take place during that war.

  • When Ypres by the Polish tank division (10th Polish Dragoons Regiment (Polish 1st Armoured Division )) on 6 june 1944 was freed, the Last Post was back again on the same day. And not in 1945.
