I truly hope my comments posted aren't "flamed" or moaned at, but it is important to ask questions & develop your own interpretations from your own research. We're working towards the British parkour Coaching Association within the UK to maintain the spirit of Parkour & to allow healthy development within the discipline and practice. There are no set ways to learn or practice, but the guidelines & spirit must be maintained out ofpast respect, care for the current & responsibility for the future.
Regarding definitions, speaking about lack of care over words, and using certain words becuse it is 'easier'. Do we practice becuase it's easy? Should we practice parkour and only look for what is easy? Again I am concenred at the fact that PKG are supposedly representing Parkour, but saying it doesn't matter. I personally believe it does matter, Parkour has it's history, I believe in practicing other movements, but not at the cost of what is effective, which other methods for movement are,
"Who cares just train" - I care, Parkour is what it is, and founded by Belle, yes there should be respect for all forms of movement, but for me personally, Parkours morals of safety effectiveness and efficieny are a good role for life, and movment, some of what PKG are saying now, are concerning in my opinion. Find what works for you and practice what you personally need. As questions, don't take anything as gospel truth.
"Who cares [about the labels]." Seriously, he wasn't undermining care, more the criticism and the skeptics among definitions of this art. But I agree with you.
However, as Dan said, It's not the name that is important, but the spirit of training. Pushing your limits, not training to impress people, respecting property and people, helping other people, being usefull, and all those mottos such as ''to be and to last'' and so on. Then, obviously, Acrobatics is acrobatic and not parkour, aswell as karate is karate, and not parkour. But whenever you want to add them into your training is up to each and everyone
Well I guess there's a reason that each thing has its own name, it's all th same thing. the names define what the art is leaning towards, it's all the same essentially. But I have talked to ex-freerunners who feel stupid about what they did. And rather than limiting Parkour to efficiency, maybe we can incorporate flips, either way, l'Art du Déplacement seems a pretty throuough label for this art.
What about Parkour use being practical? Everyday use, during school, work, incorporate it into the rest of our lives.

Okay.
so that answers a few things.
I always learned that Parkour defined the movement of efficiency, where as Free-Running was ore for show, and incorporated flips and all. = /
