Heyy, can I ask how FIT differs from FIDM, and I was wondering, I am applying to FIDM soon and is there any tips or any information you could give to people applying on anything at all? I want to do Fashion design, that means making the garments to right?
and thank you so much for uploading the videos! they are so amazing and made me want to go even more! thank you x

Nice video...yeah - Fashion Design is probably by far the HARDEST major at FIDM. I graduated in 2005 cum laude but I worked my BUTT off to get it. After college...I have mailed out over 400 resumes and have not had ONE SINGLE INTERVIEW... I went to their career center and sat with the coaches there and even they could not get me so much as an interview....I have 3 portfolios that have never been presented...Good luck getting a job after graduation..cum laude here and UNEMPLOYED.
im in fidm, best choice for fashion design. mrs reigelman is the best sketching teacher ever. i made amazing friends, kosrov, isiah, alicia, etc. its a friendly environment, yet proffesional.,The perfect balance for a career to last.
is it true you get internships to big fashion places, and get free designer stuff, because im only 13 and i want to do this but i want more info so could you give me some
it all depends on how hard you work and if you have good connections to the fashion industry. i go to fidm, and they give you the skills you need to be good at it, but you personally have to work hard at findind the perfect job afterward. you can work at fashion places and get free stuff if you are lucky and good enough at the job in order to compete with every other girl who wants the same job.
I personally wanted to attend FIT , but couldnt afford moving up to NYC..therefore I ended up at FIDM.
It all depends how bad you want to be a designer, nowadays I have become regretful of my choice...but I am not a quitter, half way through the program and graduate in June.
It just wasnt my thing as much as I thought it was, I am going back to college after for Theater.
great video! i love tess' videos too! i want to attend fidm for visual communications next fall..i just can't seem to figure out if the hardships i will face moving 2000 miles away is worth it all. like having to find a job in LA with no car, no friends, new environment, a HUGE loan, and etc.. PLZ respond!!!
According to students at FIDM, visual communications is a lot less work than Fashion Design majors...while of course there is a lot of work in that field, the fashion design program is really intense and so much info is jam-packed into just two years. It truly depends how devoted you are to this career, when I came into FIDM I did not know the work load would be so intense and it totally impacted my day to day life...at the moment I am even working on some homework, you work all the time.

do you recommend FIDM for a design college? Some people say that i should choose a school like Parsons or FIT.
