love love LOVE Arizona!!! the dragoon mountains are such a magical place! I argue that Texas Canyon and surrounding areas were built by humans considering the seemingly unnatural stone formations.
Amazing how little native American history is known by native Americans. The Apache originated in what is now Southern Canada and were invaders themselves. European settlement of Cochise county preceded Apache. The Spanish and the original native inhabitants were centered on the Presideo along the San Pedro river near the ghost town of Fairbanks. They were forced out by the Apache in 1776 and the Spanish and the native inhabitants retreated to the area of Tubac in the Santa Cruz valley.
He was hunted for his Sovereignty and now America you are finding the same fate has befallen you. Your govt is decayed from many years of wiping out human civilizations. You cannot be surprised that this disease is now your own fate? J. Krishnamurti warned you many times to free your enslaved minds, to go deep within your own heart to find ways to co-exist peacefully. Today your own elected officials are trampling upon you as a mass movement of genocide and you are paralyzed. SEEK the RED MAN
I climbed in the Stronghold several times. One time I was in a precarious postion and started sliping toward a 120 foot drop. I grabbed a long spiny stalk with 1" thorns. Only thing to hold. It stopped my fall, but several long thorns stuck in hand. Infected, swollen, operation to remove. Made (many) pictures from both sides at high points in 107 degrees temp. Recommend fall or spring. Lots of climbing/hiking routes.
I am not a serious climber. Just a weekend scamppering idiot who got in the wrong place. The Stronghold is very interesting. One could go there every weekend in the year and find defferent areas to climb & hike. Re Thorn: As the doctor was removing it, the nurse said "very interesting". Chills. PS: Always looking for rattlesnakes.
Thank you for this! I am very lucky to live in Cochise County and have a view of the Cochise Mts and see the Stronghold out of my liveing room window. I will put this video in my favorits!
There is nothing more magical than the grasslands with large boulders as you approach the trailhead from the West.

Most american indians came from the Athabascan indian tribe from Alaska, which came over the Bering Land bridge from Siberia.

Wow, you must be a serious mountain climber. Thankfully nothing like that ever happened to me there. Thanks for sharing your harrowing experience:)
