Yo Pete, was at the gun shop yesterday, and got the chance to mess with both this and the GI champion with the steel frame, to me the lightweight Champion feels much better in the hands then the the standard Champion. Definitely going to pick one of these up now for sure.

yea, damn true... i dont got the money to get those expensive guns... i shot a few 1911s, my buddy is a 1911 nut, hes got kimbers, s&ws, taurus, rock river, and all but springfields and i fired them all. I remebering shooting them all the same except the rock river which had a heavier trigger, about 7 lbs... but all the same to me, and im really likin the $570 1911 bro. beautiful 1911, i LOVE the old look on 1911s, and springfield has quality shit... ivebeen looking into them for a 1911

Thanks for the review. I am a fan of Springfield Armory 1911's. I have not found a Champion 4" barrel. I will start looking again. Enjoy your honest reviews. As for the Taurus PT1911. I agree with you and you got a great deal. Well made pistol, good machining and a good shooting gun. Really can't go wrong with it. Spending$1300+ for some 1911's is not my thing. I look for best reliable weapon, with excellent quality for the lowest price. SA, Taurus 1911's have given me that.
