Some real knuckle-dragging troglodytism in these comments (from utube9000 and elizabethfaraone). I can only speculate that they only stumbled upon this upload because of the 'race' and 'Mel Gibson' being in the title.
Any analysis of "white racism" MUST include the discussion of low Black IQs and low academic / scientific achievement of blacks. Zizek ignores this.
Whites landed men on the moon. Blacks did not. Asians build skyscrapers. Africans do not. WHY? Why do blacks have higher rates of crime, poverty, out of wedlock children, etc. The answer has something to do with BLACKS THEMSELVES and not just "white racism." To deny otherwise is to intellectually dishonest.
Slavoj really doesn't understand the oppression of African Americans, who HAVE NEVER BEEN INFERIOR....as Slavoj believes....this is HIS RACISM. Whenever a person is an asshole, and he happens to be black, he is an example of the "race." When a person is an asshole, and he happens to be white, he's just an asshole. He doesn't represent the white "race." And who is the inferior being? The oppressor or the oppressed. I would say, the oppressor.
@elizabethfaraone He isn't saying that they are inferior in an objective sense... he's saying that they become inferior when the culture has the attitude of "blacks are inferior". It's purely symbolic...
However, on second viewing, it must be said that his theory on the inferiority of black people due to their inferior treatment is taken straight from the Simone de Beauvoir's Introduction to 'Le Deuxième Sexe'.
