  • They both had their time, and now, they're both gone. Really sux, but I understand the reasons/ necessity. Personally, I don't think the Hornet can fulfill the role of fleet defense, as well as the Tomcat did. Freakin' Iconic!

  • What's the major difference between the F14 and the F15? both look identical. Wasn't the F14 retired or something?? And wasn't it made for the Navy only?

  • I know you all heard this a lot but I just want to say it again...

F-14 Tomcat is my favorite aircraft EVER!!!

  • what a bird. I miss those things

  • at the beginning and then at 0:12 it's a phantom, not a F-14

  • Well, I actually like the music. She was beautiful! For those who never worked on her, with her or around her... this aircraft was HUGE as far as flight-deck and hangar deck space. We could park 4 of our A-7Es in one Tomcat spot. I was the CVW-14 MMCPO during VF-31's (Felix) last cruise. She will be missed.

  • Thet? What the heck was I typing there? That, of course...

  • No finer fighter ever flew! Too bad thet all were retired and scrapped. So long, baby...!

  • The only shit is they decommision it!!!

    such a slick looking plane

  • A/A Missle launch on takeoff at 33 sec. = FAIL

  • It really is a great video. This is my favorite jet/aircraft I have ever witnessed. If you could get rid of that music, it would make this video AMAZING. I'm a drummer/recording engineer/songwriter, and, this is the worst music I have ever heard on you tube, and that is making viewers, like me, not see THE REST of the TOMCAT, that's why we came here, to see the CAT, not CRAP music!! take it off dude!

  • The Grumman F14 is one of the most sexy planes everr built, don´t get me wrong. swing wing , two seater, twin engine ,when you see it from the front when you can see the angle fuselage- wing engine, it looks so nasty. wonderful aircraft

  • Why the f14 retired?

  • the clip is 80's era of former?

  • The F14 tomcat is my hero. And I'm not going to debate its highly decorated service but rather, it also stood as a symbol of American air power. It brought hope to our allies and put fear into the hearts of our enemies. No other plane on the planet had or has the same psychological that the F14 displayed. It is truly the king of the skies. And as they say LONG LIVE THE KING! LONG LIVE THE TOMCAT!

  • @futurejarhead0311 GOTTA AGREE THERE ,,,40 OF THEM STILL FLY TODAY IN IRAN BUT NOT WHERE THE SHOULD BE IN THE DECKS OF AMERICAN CARRIERS THE HAVE F14 A,S

  • best plane ever build, nothing can match it not even the F-15 for it time as 4th gen fighter, its even more successfu than the f-15.

    f-15 had around 100 kills

    f-14 had over 130

most of which were by the persian tomcats

and 4 kils 4 the navy

  • best ever

  • F14 Tomcat the best naval fighter of all time! 1 lost in combat only during OIF.

    F/A18s cant match this Cat

    got Mutha?

  • nice video and my favorite fighter jet of all time. and also is there a Sky Warriors:F-22 Raptor?

  • I have great respect for Amrerican Aeronautical Engineering Ingenuity. F-14 TOMCAT WAS A VERY COMPLEX MECHANICAL FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM and AN AWSOME WEAPONS AND RADAR SYSTEM THAT CAN BEAT AND KILL ANY ADVERSARY UP THERE IN THE SKIES...

A REAL TRUE US NAVY EAGLE OF AN AIPLANE....

I am a US NAVY AMH2 Hydraulics/Flight Conrols System Mechanic VETERAN...

  • good vid! what's the music?

  • the best of the best. fighter

  • Alright, the music was a little cheezy, but the video was exellent! Do one for the F-111, and you'll be my hero. I'll subscribe.

  • I already uploaded it.

  • I have subscribed, true to my word, and thanks again!

  • @jonesy97 DIDN'T GRUMMAN MAKE A F111 FOR THE NAVY ALSO AND THE PLANE WAS TO HEAVY FOR CARRIER OPERATIONS AND THATS WERE THE IDEA FOR THE TOMCAT CAME IN MIND

  • @KEEPitGREEN4201 General Dynamics won the competition for the Navy variant called the F-111B. They later opted for the Tomcat, made by Grumman, because the F-111 was plagued with problems, and it simply was too big and heavy for carrier ops. It took a long time to get the F-111's design anomalys worked out, but it has always been General Dynamics.

  • @jonesy97 the f-111 sucked. it was a flying brick.

  • @livinlvis Thank you for that clinical analysis, professor. It did it's job, and it did it damn well. I, through experience, can personally testify to that. Yours, though respected, is just an opinion.

  • @jonesy97 The reason the F-14 existed was because the F-111B is a piece of shit.

  • @FutureMarine1775USA Yeah, was totally unsuitable for the Navy's needs, but the USAF found a role for it, and it was a damn good jet, for what it was used for. I worked on the D and F models for years in the Air Force.

  • @jonesy97 Yeah, I can see the F-111 as a supersonic bomber or Electronic Warfare aircraft, but in no way is it the fighter that Macnamera's whiz kids thought it could be.

    F-14 Tomcat..... Anytime baby!

  • Oh yeah I love american fighters. They are the best of best.

  • Top Gun!!!

  • This is one of if not the most successful and effective fighter jets ever. It looks so cool. Damn I'd love to fly fighter jets! Especially the new Raptor! I also love the SR-71 Blackbird, which is not a fighter.

  • Yeah I agree 100%

  • I love the Blackbird is well! It's jet engine/frame combination isn't so good though, see on wikipedia for more details. Wish they'd fit the GAU-something onto the F-14 though, you should see it in action.

  • Very nice video. Tomcat is my best plane, thanks the upload!

  • No problem
