Nice setup, Mikkel. My name is Mikkel, too. Maybe you are the one to agree with me on this matter. Im talking about the 'term' SSTC - where the hell does it come from. Its so stupid it really irritates me. OF COURSE A TESLA COIL IS SOLID STATE. Have you ever seen a coil with moving parts ??? Whats next - SSIC - solid state ice cubes or SSRF solid state rock formations...? Im only asking. It only sounds like some amateur made it up to sound professional. But when you think about what it means..
Yeah, but why would I not use one? It lowers the resonant frequency, making it easier for the transistors. They also tend to make the sparks much longer for a given input power. If you see my newest videos, the sparks are now well over half a meter, and without the electrostatic shielding from the toroid, they would surely hit the primary. And in my opinion, it makes the coil look a lot better. Well, not this too-small ducting toroid, but the spun copper toroid I have now really does.
yah toploads lower feq make both ground feedback and ant feedback easer less chance of fets blowing and perduce hotter loader whiter sparks and it dosent eat away at the wire
would a sstc run on just 12v in the primary on a resonant square wave? im talking about a tesla coil not a fly back or ignition commonly associated with the tc . thanks for any reply.
yes it would but there is a few catches your coil wont tune automaticly your coil cant be bigger than 15 cm. first you build the coil than you have to find the ressonance frequency of the secondary once you know this you tube your square wave pulse generator to the secondary frequancy
lol sounds like a tone generator mine sounds the same now to get the tesla running off of it. do you have any advice on how i should set up the primary driver , i have the tone gen and an amp

:-) HV is always nice ! More videos on "Tesla cold electricity" by HorizonDelta
And they say Tesla is no more actual !

you dont realy need a top load for sstc

ye i guess any way this looks much better than those sstc with 1 inch discharges

Does anyone know where I could get a schematic on how to build a SSTC? They are a lot quieter than a Spark Gap TC. Anyone?
