  • Say what you want about the politics - on a pure basis of display, this is pretty awesome.

  • Anyone know what's the music in back round?

  • The guy at 1:36 was never seen again...

  • As brainwashed as N. Koreans are, something like this would most likely NEVER be able to happen in a place like capitalist America. put aside the fact that mostly everyone is fat, lazy, or just plain fucking retarded, we simply lack the zealousness, dedication, and pride for our country that they have. That is something that I give immense props for.

  • @Wahzoozoo What u say is true. I agree. But also because in other countries we would not punish you or your family with prison, rape, denial of food and so forth. Punishment and motivation can yield high results. And that result is North Korea. Not even China would punish a performer for his or her mistake. We all human. Practice more, and try to do better next time. That works too by the way. Its what we more open minded nations came to accept. N.K., is just crazy. Not the country. Its leader.

  • @Wahzoozoo Albeit, I'd still like to hope such a performance could be performed by a bunch of "Your Average Joe's" without the need of coercion - At the least, they could take up the wall mosaic; at the most, the floor performance in a dazzling display of dance and coloured cloth etc.

Am I being a tad optimistic? Perhaps. Even so, as said in the documentary, it's not just the national pride and fear of punishment (albeit, they are still huge aspects), there's also not letting down the group.

  • THIS FUCKING AWESOME FUCK EVERYONE THAT THINKS IT ISNT. NORTH KOREA IS BEST KOREA

  • such a waste of their precious time by some crazy dear leader....I feel sorry to them.

  • What great performance art, collective talent and all. I've always been impressed with the DPRK's Mass Games. Unfortunately for critics, this isn't Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber performing - now THAT's brainwashing!

  • Glee club?

  • Kind of a sickening video honestly.

  • At first I was like... That picture is awesome but then I heard "over 12,000 school children are used" ehhmmm.... No thank you N.Korea!

  • Human Pixel's !

  • Everyone get's one pound of rice after show !

  • ALL HAIL NORTH KOREA!

  • The picture show is cool, It almost look's electronic

  • I will admit, some of the girl's are hot !

  • Ok, I might get shouted down here. But, is there anyone who can appreciate the sheer genius and artistic beauty and preparation that goes into these performances? Leaving politics, propaganda, and Kim Jong Ill out if it; I saw the entire documentary and I have to say I was entirely impressed with what it takes to pull something like this off with complete originality every time. Those young gymnasts are amazingly talented and the CHOREOGRAPHY!!? I MEAN OMG!! amazing.

  • @IslandFuzz They do it becouse they are scared. If they will refusse to do it they could end up in jail...

  • @ioanpena ------------>What a load of crocodile shit. If they don't wanna participate in mass games show, someone else does. In school days, if I had a chance to show up on national TV in a major event, u bet I will b waiting in line 2 join.

  • @xxxdieselyyy2 Believe me . I lived This shit in the 80's in Romania wich was the european version of North Korea. If you were doing something else that you were ordered to do you were in jail next day as an enemy of the state. I lived this shit, did you? We had mass games too and if you as a pupil didn't went you would have done the same year twice and no college...and as a worker no bonuses and you were folowed everywere and of course jail...

  • @ioanpena ---------------. I lived this shit, did you?------------>If u speak out against ANY state, in ANY system the state acts against u, if they feel threatened by u. If u don't show up for final exams in colleges, u have to repeat the year again thru arrears. So if u signed up as a sportsman didn't participate in a finale sporting event , of course u get arrears. Nowadays police don't need 2 follow u because they can retrieve all u r info w/a click of a mouse button.

  • @ioanpena --------------If you were doing something else that you were ordered to do you were in jail next day as an enemy of the state.------------->Like what did they order u 2 do? In India, if u speak against capitalism and PEOPLE LISTEN 2 U, u get thrown in jail as as CPI Maoist sympathizer. I can bet the same was in Romania. If u spoke against Nicole Ceaucescu to the wall or to ur Dad, or a friend I am sure nothing happened 2 u.

  • @xxxdieselyyy2 Children were tought in school to go to the police if the parents were listening to westerners radios or if the parents were telling jokes about comunists or doing something against communists , in such a way children were brainwashed.

  • @ioanpena ------------>In the capitalist West, schools advise u to rat on parents 2 police if they are smoking weed (even if they are taking care of parents) and nothing more at all- not even saying 1 thing bad against mighty warlord Bush- in programmes such as DARE.

  • @IslandFuzz They pryramids were made, and indeed probably only possible, due to slave labor. Nobody denies that they are 'wonders' but that doesn't mean the outcomes of situations are enough to overlook the human rights that went overlooked in order to undertake them.

  • @IslandFuzz Absolutely. The documentary was fascinating, not least because it portrays that vast collective mindset that Americans know only in small part. I believe that benevolent dictatorship could in theory work if the dictator was completely GOOD and ruled to serve his/her people and they trusted their leader - but that's never the case. However the loyalty and devotion of these young people toward the leader is impressive. This is an amazing insight into the culture.

  • "the country's revolution the history is a huge mistake" - automatic subtitles know the best :D

  • oh, its as Czechoslovakian Spartakiáda... but Spartakiada was bigger...

  • i'm chinese, and 22, i used to do these mosaic when i was in elementary school, except the boards were only two colours instead of multi coloured

  • It seems the government draw the whole nation to be an intertainer; this is another reason why they are behind on amost everything compare to the rest of world - these people should have spent their time in other imortant area that promotes the country and indivisual happiness but the majorities are tied in here like doing this kind of shows that rubbed from doing anything else.

  • amazing!!!of all these years the only word that i know about the north is communism, now i now better!!!that they have these such spectacular event. . .

  • ronaldo...

  • The synchronization is so eerie. It's almost inhuman.

  • The koreans should market their massgames. They are pretty cool.

  • It was a kind of secret for leader Kim. but this Internet made you see it for free

they don`t want to show mass game except Kim

  • whats the name of this song in this clip?

  • @Mcdoogler

Yes! I would also like to know the name of the tune in this clip.

  • Well at least they aren't fat, lazy and retarded like most youtube viewers...

    me NOT included! :-P

  • scenary corean grafic wonderful etc

  • Well maybe you think that of Korea, because they told you so. US is shittier than Korea for most of the civilized world.

  • North Korea isn't really all that amazing of a place to live...

  • North Koreans are starving because their dictator chooses to live in lavish rather than helping his people. If you deny that you're just an idiot.

  • not to be a dick... actually I don't think there's anyway to say this without being a dick. They aren't an obese nation... i guess that's a plus(????)?

  • so starving>obesity?

    That's completely retarded.

  • I'm not starving.

  • Never had such intense conflicting feelings of awe and disgust.

  • I despise their government but politics aside, I give these people tons of awe for their incredible coordination abilities as demonstrated in this video. What's scary is the thought of their military and soldiers being even better coordinated as one entity. North Korea has so much potential, once it frees itself of communism and embrace the power of its people.

  • @randyqs The only reason the gymnasts are so coordinated both individually and as a group is for fear of retribution if they mess up. The entire country is unbelievably brainwashed and completely cut off from the outside world so they don't know that their lives are so strangely abnormal.

  • We all know North Korea is a shitpile of dictator owned hell. But you know, you have to give them credit.

This is amazing, how many spectacles like this are in the world? And they do this EVERY year. It's not like an olympic performance where people get 4 years to prepare, this is done every year. Pretty damn impressive for starving 3rd world kids.

Even a country with gigantic pools of populace like China and India can't put a show like this. I mean come on! you can't say this doesn't impress

  • @kjk0802

It does impress, but trade-offs are obvious. Selected children practice 6 hours a day for many years to preform shows like this, while 99% of the rest of the countrys children are starving.

  • @kjk0802

The kids that are performing here all live upper class lives in Pyongyang, they are the political elite, they are not starving.

  • the kid that missed the card turn will go to 10 years prison camp along with 3 generations of his family

  • their great arts will be understood one day.

only when they get over the poverty and political

    turmoils.

  • That country is the biggest shithole on Earth!

  • so, you can imagine how much time the North Korean wast on doing such mass game, feel very sorry to those boys and girls.....!!

  • north korea is evil and a dreadful stalinistic regime but they are true masters of these kind of shows

  • factory workers by day, propaganda stage show puppets by night.....very sad

  • Well put.

  • Think those kids are flipping cards because they want to?

  • What achievements? a failed warhead test? lol but i give props to the gynastics and art

  • does anybody know where i can watch this?i cant find it anywhere and ive missed it on tv!!

  • i borrowed it from my local library.... it is AMAZING!

  • Actually this saves them lots of money. With so many people making up the screen, there's no more need to waste money on huge plasma screens! =D

  • Actually, not, if you calculate the man-hours involved vs profit.

  • but you have to pay the people.

    maybe it's more expensive.

  • the schoolchildren aren't paid. they're required to do it, as a sign of devotion to their country and leader

  • 真是不可思议。。。

  • Ha Ha. Feel sorry for dat kid dat mucks up on 1.36. dat would probs be me.

  • This is great, except the leader.

  • Considering the humanitarian situation in North Korea, this is an unfathomable waste of money and resources.

  • does anybody knows name of composition in this video

  • Anyone know the background music?

  • great sexy woman

  • If all I had to do for a living was flip poster cards back and forth, I think that would be alright.

  • so sad how these people of the worst cult are used like animals of a circus

  • Great video

  • Hey, what is the name of the music in this video? Thanks in advance :D

  • this aren't games but a bullshit work of art just to entertain a bullshit leader! this sucks! counter strike works better than this!

  • the whole spectacle makes me sick...all in the name of glorifying a despot!!!

I'm glad that the Philippines will NEVER turn communist

  • Nor will they do anything on such a grand scale with such percision!

  • Well, Philippines was a communist before.

    But people are worst.

  • wow, amazing...

  • I remember watching this.Awesome documentary. The climax ,when they finally perform the games is like "Triumph of the Will" on speed.

  • that is just cool

and aye these kids ok not doing anything for filling but they are not in gangs or getting fat and lazy

  • Say what you want, you don't see these kids shooting each other, getting obese playing video games 24/7, getting pregnant at age 14 or whoring themselves out for crack.

Communism may suck in many ways, but the fact every kid has a purpose and a responsibility is a lot more than you can say for kids in our fucked up degenerated Western society.

  • Of course you don't see kids shooting each other; it's the North Korean government who is in charge of shooting people: 2 million dead in a country with a population of 23 million: that's 10% of the population!

And yeah, you're right, no obese kids, only STARVING kids.

Why waste time letting them play video games when they can be indoctrinated, right?

Kids with a purpose and a responsibility? What is that purpose? Working for the Communist Party parasites? You've got to see the whole picture!

  • Of course you are right, but don't you see the ounce of truth in my comment also?

  • To paraphrase another commenter, these "Mass Games" are a huge waste of human life. What a shame! I guess that goes for all of North Korea, actually.

  • Then I guess your so called western "olympic games" is also Bullshit!!!! HAa hAAA

  • I suppose the tiananmen square crack down on UNARMED civilians, you're own people, was just fine and not to mention the cultural genocide which is being practiced in TIBET... While I do not support US foreign policy all the time I sure as hell like it better than Chinese domestic policy.

Send my regards to the victims of "the Cultural Revolution" while your at it I am sure they need a kind word. Disgusting.

  • dude, it´s North Korea, not China. You´re drooling all over the map.

  • While I made this comment 4 months ago, I suppose I was trying to drive at the excesses of totalitarian regimes everywhere. However, I wouldn't be so keen on being advocate for the glorious North Korean state either, where the leadership enjoys cognac and the people are starving... thats neither commmunist nor is just. Drool over that.

  • pffff... i can do that! I just dont want to

  • What a waste of good labor. Just think of how much productive work could be done if they were doing something useful instead of putting on big shows for Dear Leader.

  • its pretty awesome! for one thing compared to south korea they relied on no video display instead its cards that make images now that was very hard to do...it will be cool if they could make it move

  • From a visual perspective, this is amazing. If the South were to do it, they probably will come up with a huge flexible polymeric flat panel display.

  • This, like the Pyramids of Egypt or some other 'great things', is nothing to be proud of: they all were the result of enslaved work force being forced to satisfy the ridiculous whims of the current thug in power. I guess this is Kim Jong Il´s way to look away from the starvation and lack of liberties, among other things, that the poor North Koreans have to deal with every day.

  • Just an historical correction : Egyptians did NOT use slaves to build their pyramids.

  • As silly and stupid as this is, I don't see why so many people bash communism. The idea is pretty good. Bashing communists, yeah, that's fine, they're not bad cause of communism but they do crap like this.

  • I'm glad to see all the perspective but calm comments here...

    Let's pray for them, everyone.

  • Communism is one of the horrors of the world. The goal is that everything is like this. Mindless drones marching to the same beat. When anyone says 'real communism' hasn't been tried yet, tell them thankfully no.. But the attempts are bad enough.

  • Dirty fucking commies.

  • so school children practice daily to get the placards right...when do they study? Great job, North Korea, your true communists might want to catch up with providing a childhood to your children and maybe academic instruction to your students

  • Anyone know where I can find a torrent or this video on line? It is isn't for rent near me.

  • I'm Chinese,my mom used to this mosaic when she was in elementary school too, she will be 54 years old next year, she said looking back now, she feels like a idiot....lol.....glad China got out of this crazy state of mind

  • @ancienttomb ...and you know what?

You said that your mom feels like an idiot.

May be she is, but you are a much bigger idiot than her, because you think that NK is all about mass games! It is not! it is about survival!

Check their countryside and tell me what you find.

    Thank you!

  • Ugh. This is sickening. Just sickening. Seriously, every year Kim-Jong-Il gets this money which he's supposed to use for FEEDING ALL THE STARVING PEOPLES, and instead they use it all to organise these stupid circus shows for their own amusement. Not only that, they prolly kill the kid's ENTIRE FAMILY if he/she screws up in the performance. And then they boast about this to the rest of the world, like "look what we made our brainwashed, starving kiddies do!!" just sickening.

  • well i'm glad someone said it.

  • herhalde bunları bir biz türkler bir de kuzey koreliler yapıyor.

  • ne var len yarrak kafalı beğenemedin mi

  • Anyone know title the music?

  • We must admit that those "pictures" are fantastical.

  • Yeah, it looks so nice..

  • maybe i should have shot myself last night

  • justwant2laugh - you hope they're not forced? Are you serious? We all can hope, but...come on, you can't seriously believe that they have a choice can you?

Unless it was an existentialist question, then I bow down...

  • talking from experience - I am chiness and we used to do these mosaics when I was in elementary school/junior high in annual sports meetings as a form of "cheerleading". We were never forced into it because only a selective number of students from each class is needed to participate,

  • but people are always MOTIVATED to do so just because it shows that you have very good coordination, you can hide behind the boards to watch the games, and you get to compete with other classes/schools!

  • the plus side of communism

  • plus side, that was terrifying.

  • There are no individuals, there is only the collective.

    BARF!

  • I hope they are not forced to do this just for their and our entertainment. That wold terrible. If not, it is very impressive and a amazing display. Well done!

  • seo tai ji - heffy end : best song all of the world! check my video !

  • I am ready. I have my book of color cards and I have been practicing. They better watch, because when I bring out the bomb ass card flipping they won't know what hit them.

  • partisipants kinow that the slightest mistake "will" cost them their lives.

some of you people just don't understand !

  • Watch the documentary before you run your mouth.

  • by fanatically training and following orders from their childhood, probably most of them turned into human machine.

  • I think you mean "inhuman" machine.

  • no matter one might say...but the show is very, very impressive...the way they live...that's another story...and some of us know what is all about

  • Wow they really take that seriously...poor school children. I hope they are not forced or punished.

  • 北韓政府先把他們人民餵飽再說吧!!

The truth is "they can't even feed themself!"

People are dying. And guess what? The government DON'T care at all!

  • These Koreans are no different from mindless ants

  • I really hope you dont mean that in a negative way. but in some ways its true the government really oppresses the poor people and only the uber-rich class lives nicely in pyongyang

  • "Surrender to the group and in this way become ideologically prepared."

what a load of crap, they are just too terrified to mess up because if they don't then they will be liquidated, to use a Stalinist phrase. I will say this though, it sure makes for one very impressive show.

  • True much of the time, but not all the time. See the whole documentary. A lot of the participants buy into the process. It's a powerful form of propaganda/thought control.

  • Good point, I suppose I spoke too quickly and emotively in my last comment. I am sure that many of them, probably even most of them, by into the process. Wouldn't most of us if all we ever heard 24/7 was North Korean propaganda and we had to deal with the realities of life there?

Now if only I can get a copy of the documentary, I wish some one would post it for all of us to watch (hint hint, nudge nudge ;)

  • Sorry, dude. It's illegal and I'm not that technically proficient. Try finding it at a public library, video rental store, something like that.

  • dude nice name

  • Pitty, too bad your not where I am, in China, where that sort of stuff is perfectly legal... on a technical level that is :)

Maybe I should just pop on over to the DPRK to see the games for my self some day... hmm... that sounds like a lot of paperwork.

  • Of course they will SAY things that tend to indicate they buy into the process. Do you think they could speak on film otherwise (even if they didn't)? Doesn't sound likely to me.

  • 80 thousands people to make a floor display, it's like a piece of art work, it should be in World Guiuness. No wonder it requires proper training because that's a lot of people for a team work. Amazing.

  • They are forced to do it.

  • No they were not forced. That's some kind of collective conscience. I live in communist country myself, I know how it works.

  • It's called "State of Mind". It's available at Netflix...don't know if it might be anywhere else.

  • Does anyone know where I can watch this entire documentary?

  • Someone know how coud I get sound track from this ?

  • Apparently:

"It's from a compilation album called Deeper Shades of Euphoria. It's actually made up of two separate tracks edited together. If you get that album, the tracks are 17 - Everyday, Every Moment, Every Time and track 19, which is called Silence."

I have got both of the tracks, but they sound very little like the one in this video. Anyone got any more info?

  • I just watched the full DVD. Those songs you mentioned are not the songs being played in this specific clip. Those songs are played later though in the documentary, while watch the two girls perform in the real Mass Games.

I really wish I had the track being played in this clip.

  • click on my name for some great north korean propaganda videos, they give you a taste of north korean TV

  • Very beautifully

  • Dumb americans!! entertainment for you is fuckn wreslting.. and those kids are not circus freaks they're hardworking comrades.. and look at their fruits of labor, PERFECTION! none of you christian fascists can understand. None of you corporate pigs ca give to the world but death, hunger and misery!!! (this include dumb old Kim for being a fat tyrant)

  • согласен с вами товарищ :)

  • Wrestling is not MY entertainment. I read -- a lot. I study, learn, create, care for others. I don't worship human politicians or dictators as some kind of gods. Perfection in action is useless when morality is ceded to the state. It is inherently amoral and immoral. Supremacy of the state destroys transcendent morality, individual human cognition, and the individual human reflex to oppose wrong. It creates the conditions for abusive, tyrannical power. How's that for entertainment?

  • I hope they post this documentary on Google Vids. I'd be very interested to see it.

  • Why they don't make DVD of this and sell blockbuster? I am sure they will make good money.

  • amazing

  • Saddly they are all propaganda tools of the real Troll of NK, Kim Jong Il.

  • wow incredible..

  • wow awesome. I recognize a few a those scenes from that faithless music video.

  • wow what a waste at school u learn nuthing im portant

  • These people are so poor they don't use electronic screens.

  • lol XD

  • THis is so hot

  • Very Orwellian if you ask me...

  • 80 000 gymnasts?? Are there even that many gymnasts in the US? Haha it'd be quite an effort to even find 80 000 people who aren't obese in the US

  • LMAO!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Obesity may be a problem the US suffers with, but at least we don't need all sorts of NGOs to come feed our starving masses while our leaders live in luxury. Weight is a mark of wealth. I suppose that is why the "Dear Leader" looks so chubby.

  • no actually poor people are fatter than wealthy people.

Countries with higher per capita income rate dont have nearly as many obese people. by the way I see infomercials for help to feed hungry children in america daily. eg. in the apalachians.

  • Again, the numbers don't reflect what you claim. You are wrong.

Check the World Health Organization -- out of 193 members, only a very few had rates of obesity higher than the US.
