Mancini and boxing got a very bad rap. Kim was unfit to step in the ring with Ray due to the blood clots. (Which would have been detected had he taken a physical in the U.S.) There is no way that fight would have taken place in the United States.
What's your thoughts on the future of karate and kickboxing?
@WatchVenusSpa Well the future is here. MMA all the way. And I'm proud to have been a pioneer in taking our society from only watching boxing to where it is today. Only watching MMA! Just wish they paid dividends, lol.
@Kotroman1338 Fought American Kickboxing. PKA rules at first so no leg kicks then fought for WKA title so had to learn leg kicks (ouch!) and when I train I throw elbows and knees but never fought a real Muay Thai fight. I retired real young. But I started young too. Started fighting pro a 17 and retired at 26 because my acting career had taken off and there was more money and less pain in the movies. It's not like the MMA guys of today making hundreds of thousands if not millions.
I got paid a whopping $2400 to fight for the world title! And that was my biggest payday ever in a 10 year fight career. But at least our generation paved the way for this one. And it makes my heart sing to see it beat boxing cause that was always my goal. I'd call every newspaper/TV station I could to get press for my sport and I think it paid off.
thanks Wu. I retired when I was 26 cause my acting career was taking off. I'm 42 now and make documentaries and may do an acting gig on occasion. Oh and I did here that I think one other time about Quinton who happens to be one of my favorite film makers. Usually get Patrick Swazyee or Marlon Brando. Thanks for the props bro. Peace.
yea i saw you talking about the movie in the pre fight interview.
you inspired me to start using side kicks to the face now lol. i fight MMA and in muay thai training we just work on traditional thai kicks .Those kicks were Very effective in that fight for you.
@TheKimura4u Thank you very much! That was my favorite fight of my career despite losing cause I never gave up. I only trained 2 weeks for it as I was starring as the lead bad guy in Don "The Dragon" Wilson's movie "Ring Of Fire II". Otherwise I would have been in shape and killed the old dog, lol. Just sayin.
hey Ian, great video! hope you're doing well, we fought on the same card twice in montreal, once when you fought conrad pla, the other canada vs. russia, you're a Great Fighter! Angelo Di Bella
Like many people, the first time I saw mr. Jacklin in the movie, "Ring of Fire II", but around the same time I saw the short clip in which he dropped his opponent with his side kick. But I didn't know it was him until now. I am always partial to those who use side kicks as real weapons. Even this video shows he was a world class fighter. Now I wonder whther champions like Theriault, Wilson, or Roufus ever thought about giving him a title shot which I believe he truly deserved .
That was my bread and butter kick. Have no idea why no one and I mean no one uses it in MMA? As they rarely use the spinning back fist. Thy are missing out big time. Anyway I was offered to fight Roufus and Wilson but way before I had cured in to the fighter that would beat them. Which would have been about 2 years after I retired in 94 to pursue an acting career. They always used to compare me to the fighters you speak of and I appreciate your compliment my friend. peace. ian jacklin
erm.. you have just genuinely inspired me.... YOURE SKILLS R ACTUALY MENTAL!!! ...thats it once i get my black belt in november im getting out of traditional, and into the ring. You and micheal kuhr's videos have given me some hefty inspiration, Im only 17 so ive got my whole life ahead of me, i hope to be as good as you........... or better ;-) lol.... Cheers *bow* :).
Thanks very much. Just remember the 3 D's: Desire, Determination and Dedication. And don't forget the road work! Aside from building up your gas tank you can visualize your technique. See yourself winning. Peace. Ian.
All you young guys out there please take note to the shooting side kick. It never ceases to amaze me how no one in MMA today seems to use it?! Obviously you have to worry about the guy shooting in on you but with impeccable timing it beats the front kick and round kick any day of the week. Bring that knee to the chest and drive that hoof out! At end of every work out throw 50 to a hundred of them so it becomes like a jab. Peace. ian jacklin

Rick Roufus. I think Duke was a little before my time cause I grew up studying Rick on tapes but never saw Duke fight.
