You have an Aussie news accent =p so to me it's not very different to my own NZ accent so our accents are closely related whther we wanna believe it or not
the title of this vid has "australian accent", but this girl actually has a new zealand accent. and i find it extremely weird that Brisbane didn't get mentioned among the worlds most livable cities when there were all those other australian cities there...and people are always loving brisbane here. :S
I enjoy these videos, but if you ever say "different than" instead of the correct "different from," I'll have to stop watching. I'm sorry, but I feel quite strongly about this.
Yes, it would be great to hear you do a topic on language pet peeves. One of mine is when people say "acrossed" instead of "across," as in, "He went across the street." I hear a lot of people use "acrossed" and it drives me crazy.
Oh, and one other peeve.. When people type "alot" instead of "a lot." There is no such word as "alot." I know it's not really a problem when spoken because you can't really tell the difference, but when it's spelled wrong it hurts my brain. =)
It gets me when people say "anyways" or misuse the word "I". Sometimes it can get atrocious. "This is a picture of Jill and I." "Jill and I's cat is ill." djfaslkdfj2q9u0fsda
Different than has been much criticized by commentators but is nonetheless Standard at most levels except for some Edited English. But Standard English does use than as both preposition and conjunction: She looks different than me is Standard and so is She looks different than I [do].

Oh yeah? Well Kenneth G. Wilson is one of those descriptivists creeps who feels that if enough people make the same mistake often enough, it becomes okay, because what is language, but a description of the way people actually talk. Sorry, but I don't buy that commie crap.
Haha cool, glad you chose this one. Another good trick to link the videos together is to mimic Tom's tags for that video. That will sometimes push his video to the top of the sidebar related videos. His were - clone frezned who confusing twin - for this video.
I got all of the answers and was shocked at how easy they were.. Then I realized I lived in Vancouver. Sigh.. xD

Sorry about that. OK, I'll say different from. Thanks for pointing this out, I've never really thought about it before. It could be a good topic.

Commie crap? Haha. With your attitude it doesn't look like Sarah will be missing much if you unsubscribe.
Anyway, one would sound pretty funny saying "She looks different from I."
starward 4 years ago
It would sound funny, because people who don't know when to use "I" and when to use "me" always sound funny when they talk.
