Every Master of their Instrument that is found in these recordings do not simply play. It is a wholesale sellout of emotion and it is all left lovingly for US. You don't get it? Go listen to Rap and stay away please...Or take this chance to learn the emotional side of music.
To iobjectifytom, if necessary to reply to such a comment... You really don't know what you're talking about. Airto Moreira was a hell of a percussionist. So please, moderate your language. Thks.
Já lá vai muito tempo, mas alguns destes sons nunca mais me saíram da minha cabeça. Tive essa sorte de ter lá estado, 15 dias num acontecimento como nunca mais vi em outra lado.
@ogrebattle22763 i would ask for de johnette, airto moreira, chick corea,,,and who's on the bass? maybe dave holland!! what a band man....unbeliavable
Does anyone have any ACID I can borrow! ' Acid Jazz ' Chic's come a long way. I don't know who that keyboard player is. I think Chic should've been up front and not in the back.
@iobjectifytom hahaha! Airto Moreira might be a phenomenal drummer/percussionist/musician... but it's so hard to tell when he's looking like such a fucking weirdo!
@SCORNDOGGMELACH Was an attack on my faith necessary to state your opinion.? (I'll answer for you; no it wasn't.). I'm allowed to not think this type of "music" sounds good and they can love playing it and it can be as revolutionary as you want to believe, but that doesn't make it any more pleasing to MY ears. I stated my OPINION of the piece. My OPINION isn't going to make or break his legacy, it's just my OPINION. that doesn't mean I don't "get it", it just means I don't "like it".
Jarrett was easily my favorite keyboardist of this era. It kills me to hear him hate on the Fender Rhodes-- the sound of the instrument definitely gave him an edge his acoustic stuff lacks.
Only Miles Davis could get away with calling this music. Reminds me of the Episode of Family Guy where Lois and Peter got stoned before a performance and thought they were awesome when they actually sounded horrible. Miles' tone was elementary and this trainwreck of a performance shouldn't be considered a great. It had shining moments no doubt, but as a whole, very dissapointing. People just try to see greatness in it because Miles Davis' name is on it. Even the greats make mistakes.
@MyRepentance Actually Miles was criticized and shunned by a large part of his public for this new direction much like Dylan was when HE went electric. As if the fans were to determine and define who Miles was and what his music was to be. Chutzpah! LOL They didnt get it either. This music should be approached by the listener after he checks his ego at the door. Man I love it. And they loved playing it. You can tell. A living thing. Spontaneous and inspirational. Some of the grooves. Wow! Kool.
@SCORNDOGGMELACH and if you were wondering why I came and watched it then said I didn't like it, it was because I'd never given Miles Davis much time before and a friend pointed this to me as a good starting point. Why do people act like it's a crime to actually SAY I don't like it. People say how much they like it, so why can't I.?
@MyRepentance Its amazing, I was just thinking about my comments as a little bit harsh and was going to remove them. JUST NOW. Thats what is amazing. And I will. Anyway point taken. However the advice you took as this being a good starting point was like throwing you into the deep end. Start with the standards. Start with the album 'Kind Of Blue' This was the album that appealed to the world and that made Miles very famous. But this fusion here was the breakaway from that stuff. Miles got bored.
@DiamondSoul You don't understand music & art because of your conditioning & because you're scared of taking acid. You haven't yet evolved out of that old bebop & standard old-hat 'cool jazz' that you conume like candy. You'll need to elevate yourself to a higher intellectual plane like Keith Jarrett before you can begin to understand this kind of acid jazz soul food. It will be very hard work for someone like you but there's a slim chance you might succeed. Whatever you do, don't lose hope !
@MyRepentance Who called it "music"? I doubt Miles Davis called it anything, he was just seeing what he & his band could do with their instruments. Music is just a word, as is "jazz". What it is is sound & you either take it or leave it. What the audience thinks or expects of an artist & what the artist thinks or expects of himself are two very different things...Davis was on a different path & seeing where it took him, you go with him or you leave him to it.
