security forces is a joke.. i was in this video sad to say.. sf is nothin more than people ACTING bad ass like there rambo or somethin but cant pass a pt test. sf is a good job if u wanna ACT as if ur somethin or someone important.. but all in all u just sit on ur ass and dont do shit.
I am always amazed at the number of trolls who write nasty things about AF Cops on Youtube. SF is an honorable profession. If they were cooks we could still be very proud of thier honorable service. So why all the venom? I can't understand why anyone would bother to leave a negative comment unless they are an insecure or jealous troll. Seems there are a lot of military posers who have served in easy jobs that try to feel better about themselves by throwing rocks at others. Pure insecurity.
I can't say alot. But, my experience as an Air Force Security Policeman in the late 80's to the mid 90's was a proud part of my life. It wasn't and am assuming isn't a glorious job. While other military members are warmly tucked away in a warm bed, I garauntee there is an SP or as they are called nowadays SF putting his life on the line in order to protect this country. I know for a fact we had SP's in mogadishu, Iraq, and other incidents. Now the SF's are conducting convoys in Iraq. Aimhigh
Some people say that SecFo is full of a bunch of idiots. Which is false. I scored an 82 on my AFQT (I believe you need at least a 30 or 32 for SecFo) and I went SecFo. Its not about taking the highest job your test qualifies you for because it doesnt matter if you're working with doctors or cooks, if you wear the same rank, you're going to be paid the same (with few exceptions). I picked it because my dad is SecFo and I wanted to be a police officer, but more than just an MP in other branches.
Well every other branch seems to think Army are stupid but I landed a communications job unfortunately my back gave out. So there are a lot of common misconceptions.
I want to eventually be a CRO (Combat Rescue Officer) but before I do ROTC in college I plan to enlist in the AF Reserve. So I think SF would be a great start for a military career. Anyone want to tell me anything I should now? Would be helpful.
@SoySause84 I am leaving for basic in 30 days with my contract reading 3P011 Security Forces (i will be enlisted). My father is putting on Lt. Col. in 1 year and he has been SecFo since 1999. Security Forces is open to both enlisted and officer.
My dad told me when he was young him and his maintenance buddies used to make fun of security forces, and say " think about it, if you would've scored 10 points higher you could've been a cook." lol but today as an E-8 he has some of the most respect for them. They have long ass shifts and holidays and make sure our bases are safe and we are safe.
@CaptoonChris There not suppose to lol, that why we have Special Forces, EST is not trained to handle what Special Forces are trained for. That like telling the street cop to guard the president.
But i guess it's to be expected... we do have a little too much fun doing stupid crap in our down time :) Prolly where the bad reputation comes from, our stupid sense of fun and humor.
To say we dont do stuff is a load of bull. On base we do LE and Security functions... which, as stated, gets very boring most of the time... but that means we are doing our job right. Try working 12 hours and remain "vigilant" at a gate or a plane.... its not as easy as u think. When we deploy, we do a wide range of things, from nice cozy desk jobs, to building clearing... we are versatile, and we do a hell of a lot more than we get credit for by people who dun know wtf theyre talking about.
@SomberSF to sum it up children, if you're too smart for the infantry, and want to be a police officer that does more than just write tickets SecFo is the way to go. SomberSF is right.
Well I have room to talk cause I'm actually in this video... As sad as that sounds but owell... Anywho I love the military but security forces is a joke. Just a bunch of fat asses actin as if they can do anything but there to fat and lazy to pass a damn pt test. I'm tryin to go either dea, tacp, and I've been thinking bout cct.. I just don't know bout the air traffic control school
For some people asking questions, USAF Security Forces still do. Not many bases actually have it, because SF personnel are getting trained in a sense to all be able to do building clearing according with SWAT tactics and LE tactics called Active Shooter training. I'm not saying every base does this, but they are probably going to start doing this. And yea, the trainers who train us just go by the book and don't really have any experience with this sort at all. But still, its decent training. Eh.
I am refering to my experience only. My instructors in SWAT had more real life experience and were in my opinion highly trained. My EST Air Force instructors had very little real life experience. Does the Air Force even have an EST class anymore? Tactics did evolve after I graduated from EST in 1988. I completed Civilian SWAT in 1998 and we did way more firing and in my opinion more realistic training. Never went to Army SRT.
I don't think there's a standardized EST course. Simply having an EST is on a base-by-base basis, so the training setup has dropped to that level. I'd like to think they'd find the most qualified instruction; but with how finances are, who knows.
in 88 there was alot less reason for the EST. The SF didnt have as much real life experience simply b/c there wasnt as much combat and controle sit. as there are now. so the more demand the more exp. and SWAT was never in short demand.
Security sucks!! I did the EST and Raven stuff; not bad training for Air Force. The best training I ever had was civilian police SWAT training. Air Force training does not even come close.
Not accurate. I was EST and a civilian LEO--the SWAT training school (US Army SRT) is the same as any other civilian SWAT school. In fact, civilian LEOs attend the school as well.
all you people that disrespect the men and women that do this are ridiculos. sure they may not see action. if you think that seeing action is cool, you are very, very, very naive. Just because they stand around at a base guarding cargo planes and guarding bases and what not doesnt give anyone the right to say that its a joke. All branches of the military should be respected no matter what job you do. If you cant respect every branch of the military, then you have no repsect for your country.
@frokernd180 im security forces counter sniper i have been deployed 3 times and i have seen action but it is very rare to find security forces that do i have ranger certs and was last deployed with a 5 marines 2 navy 6 army and me and 1 other airman
i don't know its a "cop" job that makes them feel like they are doing something important..
they sit out in an airfield in the middle of no where and do security on a jet in between missions.. by jet i mean cargo planes.. c-17 c-5 c-130. sure if they see some action that would be cool but more than likely they wont..
If you really think they think they are doing something, you are sorely mistaken, they rely on distro to get through the night, and sitting out watching "cargo" planes, as if they don't watch PL2 or PL3 ACFT doesn't happen, if they see no action, the shift was successful, to downtalk them, shows the worst ignorance!
Also inaccurate. USAF Security Forces troops take on Army and Marine Corps taskings on a regular basis and more than a few entire units have seen combat. However, don't think that "seeing action" is the only gauge of effectiveness for any military member.
Man... they should really take the equipment they issue you guys a lot more seriously.
I mean, c'mon... Blackhawk?
Is this a military that gives a fuck about issuing it's own staff real equipment that actually lives up to the function that high speed low drag is meant to be lived up to, or is this a military that says "Hey company X gave us this huge deal on gear and equipment. We're going with BHI"?
Keep that BHI shit where it belongs: In the world of movies and airsoft.
Now does the Air Force have police that can perform duties of a civlian police officer(not in the military) For example give tickets to civilians/military personell for speeding on base or arresting civilians/military personell on base for drugs ext. And they get to wear military ribbons and medals. Are there Air Force military police like that?
i was a SECURITY POLICE member in the eighties, I do remember giving tickets, busting drunk drivers and dope dealers!Ive even pull my weapon out on dangerous suspects! when i was in we SECURITY POLICE members had more responsibilties than the other branches military police!a and the other branches were training in our domain half of our flight were MARINES!they trained with us!
you will attend 2 tech schools 1 is academic and akido with plenty of running the other will be field training but EST is not going to be the same.
