  • if you don't like what hes trying to teach you go look for other videos, dont sit here and insult a man that's trying to help others. keep your ignorant comments to yourself .

  • this dude is cold....nice looking punch..looks like mine...the only thing he didnt mention is that you should square your hips (not your feet!!!!) and pivot your back foot when throwing that straight....thats how he's making that fuckin bag "pop" everytime he hits it......and he's not even throwing hard....mainly coming from squaring his hips and pivoting his back foot PLUS taking that initial step to create momentum..

  • flawless technique...

  • great looking punches there but could use a bit more of a discription of how to throw the punch please make new ones...

  • This guys videos are great. Traditional boxing fundamentalist. He teaches boxing, not cardio exercise on a punching bag. We need more trainers like this. I'm tired of the dude on steriods with the fohawk and the tribal tattoos trying to rip me off for an hour of dance classes around a heavy bag.

  • Damn dude

    That was epic

  • Good advise-no hooks before books....

  • cracking smacking punches this fellas a fine exponent

  • thi brother know his stuff. his punches are sharp and crisp. i use his advice with my own clients

  • Hahaha he must have been sick as fuck of saying 'Hi, my name is Marvin McDowell........' in all these videos

  • i wish he where my grandpa :D

  • good tips for beginners

  • He knows his stuff. Not much backswing, good fast crisp righ hand, keeping good balance too.

  • that bag is swinging to much

  • he knows his stuff watch how he keeps his feet ,

  • or that bag is reaaaaally light, or he is knows how to throw a good solid punch, i'll go with the second option :)

  • it is appropriate to wear caps ang pants during training

  • This is a great teacher..finally.

  • Are u kidding me? Trying to insult this guy, i mean srsly, he is old, but yet he pushed himself to actually do this, most people stop at 30, but u still make fun, RETARDS I HAVE TO SAY, NO HEART, NO SOUL, OR BRAIN....

  • Comment removed

  • because its fun to comment i also figure out right jab and right hook and getting a pair of everlast boxing shoe, anyway happy new year bro.

  • @hotboyme you juse answered your own comment so why comment?

  • @reptilian201233666 Your just jealous your mum and dad can only afford you ballet classes

  • that bag isnt heavy enough for him imo.

  • i have learned most of what i know, however limited, about boxing from watching these videos from expert village and the past few years there has been some difficulty finding more than two of my buddies that give me a run for my money in fight night rd2 or 3. not that using sticks on a controller is anything like the real contact sport!

  • in orthodox stance, wouldn't that be like a cross? his right hand does 'cross' his body after all, and i am a complete boxing noob.

  • That shit would hurt if it lands anywhere on u specially on the chin.

  • i coudlnt give a monkeys about this red dead zombie thing, i sugest anyone subjected to it avoids it, its not necessary advertising, its just greedy

  • I boxed for about 6 months in Everlast, This man got some awsome hits!

  • hes got some serious power for an old dude

  • this dudes the man

  • thats a nice punch

  • @reptilian201233666 for one saying "faggy'' is just gay as hell, also your name is reptilian.. enough said.

  • @K0BE92 hahahahahahahahahah lols

  • i have been boxing for over ten years in the thibidox, louisiana boxing club and also in texas; in the dallas and irving boxing clubs. i can tell you the guy knows what he is doing, he has great form and technique. how many people raggin' on this video have even actually boxed before? the guy makes good videos for begginers so pay attention and learn a thing or two

  • i agree with druss76. i have been boxing for for over ten years in the Thibidoux, louisiana boxing club and also in texas; in the dallas and irving boxing clubs. the guy has very good technique and form. how many people ragin' on this video have ever actually boxed before? the guy makes good videos so pay attention and learn a thing or two

  • this is maywheater uncle :))

  • DAYYUMM

  • damn fast

  • good work marvin...... very informative videos

  • wish i could see his footwork.

  • اهكذا تتعلمون في أمريكا

تعالو الى السعوديه لكي نعلمكم ومجانا..

  • @3sle2010 thats right baby!

  • @SerbianJudo loooool thanks kkkk

  • thats a good straight right hand

  • jesus you can just see the amount of power is put into it and even at his age its still incredible.

  • you gotta turn your back foot to turn your body

  • u gotta turn the back foot too

  • Hes fitter than most of you fat fucks so shut the fuck up and loose some weight

  • ESE GOLPE ES MAS EFECTIVO CUANDO EL OPONENTE VIENE ASIA A TI Y SE TE LANZA ENTONCES SACAMOS EL PUÑETAZO Y CAE NOQUEADO.

  • i guess nobody told him his mother was kidnapped, gagged and put inside that punch bag :( poor man...

  • @latinkon3 i guess nobody told you how a fucking retard you are

  • @asdashopperrr if you're right hand u want 2 put more weight on ur right foot which shud b bhind ur left, bend ur knees a little n cover ur face, keep ur elbows down, make sure dese movements feel comfortable and ur movements r fluid, keep both fist real close 2 ur body and ur right fist about 2 inches under ur chin n practically touchin ur chest, wunce u hav dis down, quickly rotate ur lower torso (stomach) and (dis is important), pick up ur right heel and twist it 2 da right as u follow thru

  • ohh i was confused at the positioning of his right hand unti i realised he has his left hand infront of him to start with

  • great puncher, beautiful technique, shit teacher tho haha

  • thats good punch!

  • Holy fuck look at the power. Look how quick his hand moves too. Does anyone know a good video on technique for generating power in a straight right?

  • @asdashopperrr throwing the 1.2. punch combo is the best way to be sure the right straight is fully charged. Also, the power, as funny as it may sound, comes from the but and hips. twist with it and its timber for whoever catches that.

  • @TheRealSolo1 I have been practising for quite a while now but there's still no real force behind it. Do you twist both hips? just the right side? Do you lift your foot off the ground? do you flick the arm out loose or do you drive it into the bag? Where do you put your weight? Any advice is appreciated!

  • @asdashopperrr the technique lies behind rotating your hip even if u was to leave ur foot without rotation the force of you rotating your hip will cause you to automatically rotate it other wise you will be in an uncomfortable pain..in the rotation of ur hips lies your whole body force

  • Best way to learn is to watch and imitate the guys with the best form. This trainer has great form. He's using his hips and snapping that punch out there without leaning forward like a lot of guys do and bringing it back just as quickly.

  • lol man this guy is awesome! He's moving the hell outta that bag I'll tell you that.

LMAO I swear to God about 90% of the kids here would hurt their wrists trying to punch the bag, fuck you posers...

  • good first right hand man...

  • Damn......This guy can hurt someone....especially those who believe he is telegraphing.....He is demonstrating. In an actual fight he will make you think he is slow with his movements until that right hand put your lights out.

  • @Druss76 yo man im a boxtrainer in holland and i read you learn people the art of MMA, please teach them some good knee work! everytime i watch mma on tv i see people dive to your leggs and i never see someone knee at that time One good knee is fatal at that moment!

  • In addition: pull your hand right away, clip right back to your chin for cover to avoid counter punch from your opponent.

    Filipino Boxer

  • no offense because I know you are a great trainer, but do you notice you always cock back your right hand before throwing your right hand?

  • What a guy. For his age, that right was amazing. Scratch that, for any age.

  • yes he telegraphs with his fist and his hips, but i wouldn't want to catch that on the chin too often

  • Damn

  • Plus, drop your hips slightly as if 'dropping into' the punch this will add your body weight to your punch. You can see him do it - it's ever so subtle.

  • that is a nice straight

  • Totally agree. It's smooth, and you can tell that it's very compact but it's also a very hard hit. Very nice demo.

  • he loads up his right a lil be4 he throws it

  • that's the pendulum step

  • He is REALLY telegraphing his punches tho...

  • I can tell he has boxed before.

His Form is more of a peek a boo stance, and you can tell by the way the bag moves that he isn't just throwing the punch out there. You can also tell by the way hes twisting his foot and his waste. You put more weight into it.

    Good trainer.

  • that right there is a fast straight, i personally throw mine with a lot of weight shifting from my hips, and use all my power. and follow through with the punch so that if it doesnt connect it will push him back./

  • i didnt think the bag was supposed to jolt, your arm is supposed to be fully extended when you make contact with the bag, to help keep you from injuring your elbow, it supposed to be like just a sudden shudder, not a big jolt, when you puch a guy, and your goin like that, he isnt going to move or absorb energy

  • @GodFormedUsTM Just so you know, if you arm is fully extended when you punch, that is when you will be doing damage to your elbow joint, you never want to fully extend your arm.

  • @GodFormedUsTM Uh yea it will. You're never supposed to full extend.

Think of it this way..... when that elbow is completely straight... no more energy can go through. Almost like swinging a baseball bat with your wrist already follow through. You greatly reduce the amount of energy.

Although I have heard of extending just after contact. But again... elbow damage. But I'm sure that adds a bit more power as well.

  • He knows how to hurt you! Watch the bag joilt!

  • get the fuck outta here wut talkin shit on youtube fuckkin silly ass bitch "choclatesaltyballs" clown

  • fuck you tupac, big pun is the best

  • i like that he shows more than he tells. some of these other trainers get too wordy and make the lesson boring.

oh, and turn that wrist over.

  • this guy knows what the fuck he is doing.. obvious he has laced them on.. but wtf is he doing cocking his right hand before unloading? telegraphing the punch.. that suxx

  • full extension always...punch thru your target! aim for 3 feet behind there head =]

  • yup yew know wahcu talking about playa

  • 3 feet? isn't that too much?

  • I guess it's "3 inches"... well, 3 feet... uh, it can only be done by a lance/spear... :P

  • even though it is a figure of speech id say hell no if you can try to punch sumthin 3 feet behind ur target your going thru it no doubt...its all about punching THROUGH your target...more power is the result

  • right. i thin it all starts at your feet you turn your foot that make your leg then your hip turn and finaly your upper body and then your arm release all the energy into the punch

  • This is only is you're fighting orthodox. If you are southpaw, then you would jab with your right, and your straight punch would be your left hand. He should clarify this since he's a so called "expert".

  • nice technique, notice how he turn his hips and his knee, power is generated from rotation of the body (ie weight transfer from left to right)

  • His guard is really low though

  • yeah i know but i think he is just showing off the punch in this clip.

  • the shorter the punch is the stronger it is dumb ass

  • first of all, he is stretching his arm.

second of all, the longer you extend your arm the more weight of your body is shifted into your punch. pff. Dumb ***

  • yup. i heard short right straights are pretty powerful

  • what!? aree you stupid? listen to "manganub". He is right. Dont come and say whats right or wrong when you dont know. Its about laying your body weight on the punch. Where did you get your stupid theory from?!?

  • No, the shorter the punch the more bent your arm is meaning YOUR arm takes the recoil, but if your arm were straight it'd be full power into your opponent

  • i teach MMA and Muay Thai and i can tell you right now that that punch is gonna hurt like a bitch if he lands it on you, its one of the nicest punches i've seen in a long time, agreed he doesn't explain how he generates power but you can SEE how he does it, in my estimation, from watching his other videos, he's very good... watch, learn, shut the fuck up!

  • @druss76 HAHAHAHA you call that powerful?

  • @druss76 Oke well sir may you tell us from were the power generates?

  • @AwoTinKo0o it all comes from the floor, you push with your foot, then, as you twist your hips(the most important bit) and "sit" slightly into the punch. The force starts at the floor and whips up your body and out through your fist... every technique, whether boxing, muay thai, MMA or BJJ all relies on your hips... if you watch this guys hips you'll see them snap forward just before he punches, very good technique... although he does telegraph like a mutherfucker

  • @druss76 Haha oke so take at easy don't need to get mad! and thanks for the tip!!

  • @druss76 yea lol he's rangling that bag and it doesn't look like he's giving it his all

  • @druss76 I agree, this is actually one of the few experts on expert village. The guy can definitely throw a punch no doubt.

  • @druss76

What kind of damage can a straight punch do?

  • @Iraniancommunist777 Damage that would knock your ass out.

  • @Iraniancommunist777 it can break bones in your face thats for sure.

  • For all those talkin shit I would be willin to be if he hit you with that right hand you'd need a night light and a pillow. An individual with proper technique will do techniques with a lot of power without any apparent effort.

  • joke

  • Cmon he is a sr boxer, he is just showing the technique, don't be a douche kid.

  • This fellow is well trained, I would like to have a trainer like him.

  • that punch looks powerful.

  • you dont know shit about boxing fatass. you need to be watching treadmill videos not boxing videos, fatty.

  • He's showing how to throw a right hand, not how to block your left hook.

  • Pretty good, throws an effective right hand. He is a lil robotic, only to show the audience how to throw the punch correctly. I bet he is a great boxer.

  • That's a solid ass punch.

  • Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

  • I like how he says:"No hooks before books".Very admirable of him.

  • anyway no one says its a good punch. at least he did it correctly unlike you.. throwing a punch with arm fully extended and self pwn will be the result u're gettin at the end of ur fight.. well congratz :)

  • lmao waste of humanity ? what english is that ? dont spam english without using brains.. take it as a compliment because i just said u got the brains or maybe your skull is hollow ?

  • Talks like Cleavland from the Family Guy!!!

  • lol if u really punch out with your arm straight.. u would injure your elbow, noob

  • you really have not got a fucking clue so shut the fuck up, dyou box, no. but u will probs say u will now, iv been boxing for 7 years i think i should know you fucking cunt !

  • lol boxing for 7 years means u cant be wrong ? u have been living on earth for so many years and u dont make the same mistake ? and what does boxing for 7 years mean man ?

and lmao 'i think i should know'..how can you be not sure of something that you did for 7 years ? noobster

  • Because you do the same shit again and again & get you butt whopped.

  • inspiredbyshikari lol.. you are inspired by shit

  • lol you sound like a faggot, your mum IS inspired by shit coz she fuckin eats the stuff man whilst ur grandma drinks my piss !

  • classy. ive been boxing for 4 years and i can honestly say. straigten your arm all the way can lead to an elbow injury... couse i did and someone moved just right and damm that hurt.

  • im talking about your login name and u talk about my mum lmao! i cant see any link in ur argument.. dont make a fool of urself, seriously xD

P.S by the way u smell.. and do u know why ? because u're a piece of shit , no offence, serious xD

  • who says noob anymore? all of you, get lives.

  • mike tyson should do training videos like this

  • love the sound of that crisp snap on the bag

  • its true chin down and hands up.but damn turn that hand when u trow

  • Nice solid punches.... my only complaint is the message at the end.... "know hooks before BOOKS".... or did I hear it wrong! !

  • you heard it right but I think he means NO hooks before books, i.e. use your brain for something other than a punching bag

  • Okay.... that does make more sense! !

  • notice the timing at the punch itself

    he is a real boxer

  • he has a nice follow through on his punches, but he is cocking his right hand a little bit, giving away that he is going to throw a right hand... a bad habit

  • bingo. he doesn't turn his shoulders first to completely telegraph it, but your hand should go before you move into the punch. you don't move into it and then throw. that split 2nd is the difference between connecting and missing an opponent who is paying attention.

  • hes taking way too many punches to the head

  • Nice right hand although a slight telegraph. Right before he lets it go. Im trying to tell my guys at the gym this is what you want to avoid and that is creating a bad habit even if it is tiny one. Once you start a habit it is difficult to break

  • Agreed nice snap.

  • very nice..and stop saying about his race u fucking faggots

  • hes a trainer guys plus hes old its not like hes a competititer

  • is this a joke or ?

  • Why would it be? Not sure what kind of instruction you are expecting.

  • good snap on those punches.

  • if you wanna be on the safer side when you punch you could actually block with your shoulder but i think like this it's easier

  • His "step forward" looks like more of a "twist of the heel".

  • Hes dropping his arm would be so easy to roll under it and hit left hook him
