  • all the old gas i drain from my tractors gets put in my truck

  • you should mod that i have a moded one but mine is a 12.5

  • @MrSub24 yeah, I have an offroad mower that has a modded engine. its a 28 cu. in. briggs flatty.

  • This is an awesome tutorial and you explain everything so well that even the simplest numb nuts (ME) can understand what to do. Huge thanks for saving me a ton of cash down at the garage getting a pro to do the job!

  • thank you for making this video...it really helps a lot to people like me that dont know much about carbs, but now I have a better idea of what to do

  • @TheAdventurestories Glad I could help!

    thx for the feedback!

  • Great Video... although I've got a small generator with what I suspect is a dirty carb, your explanation of the carb workings and cleaning procedure was very helpful. Looking forward to giving this a try later today.

  • @k6user thanks! I have to clean a carb every other week it seems like.. then again I have 7 small engines to maintain. they just get gunk in them

  • hey i have a newer lawnmower and while i was hooking up a trailer i noticed it wasn. idling very smooth so i knew it was something to do with the fuel so i compleatly rebuilt the carb and now it won't start. and, yes, i pulled off the head and cleaned it and the cams work just fine then i blew into the gast tank(to put fuel into the system) and it wouldn't start...i normally can figure this out but i can't manage to make this happen!the fuel filter is clean so,any sugestions?

  • @Tristan102100 I wish I was there to mess with it... does it have spark? try to squirt a lil fuel down the carb and see if it runs.. if it does, its a fuel problem, if not, check the spark.

  • @Fearlessfront yeah i figured it out...the spark was too weak. another questin? i recently got a lawnmower that sat in the peoples back yard for five years. after a few days of tinkering with it i got it to fire and run. the problem is,i changed the oil and now it won't even turn over. i checked all the swiches and everything works. i had the battery on the trickle charger overnight, so thats not it. i know i am asking a lot,but i would apreciate the advice.

  • @Tristan102100 I bet its either the key switch itself is dead, (happens a lot try spraying some wd-40 into it, sometimes it helps...) or make sure the mower deck engagement lever/switch if off, and the clutch switch. there is also a seat switch too. check or disconnect those first. Maybe re-wire the whole thing..(not that hard I have a "how to" video on it.)

Also make sure you didnt disconnect or break any wires while doing the oil change.

This is assuming it does nothing when u turn the key.

  • @Fearlessfront i already figured it out...the cylinders were floded. took out the spark plug and it cranked just fine. i made a stupid move leaving the fuel hooked up when i knew the carboretor wasn't that clean... but thanks for the advice anyway! i am shure i will remember it when something else goes wrong!

  • yeaa it would really help me!

  • how do you make a separate choke for the carb?

  • @tottos90 its an mtd choke cable. pretty easy to add

  • @Fearlessfront so all i do is buy that choke cable and hook it up to were the old choke cable was?

  • @tottos90 no, it hooks up separately. I'll have to make a video of it sometime

  • My mower has an 11hp briggs in a craftsman mower (1982) and the motor has a bit of a miss to it (its kind of jerky) and i has wondering if this is the result of a dirty carb or clogged in line fuel filter..........and also on the bottom of my float bowl, the little bolt holding it on has a spring on it and i dont want to take it off if its some sort of a adjustment or mabye its not...just thought id ask to see what you had to say

  • @MrChevynova01 yea, clean the carb. what you unbolt the thing on the bottom with the spring, unbolt the brass part, don;t unscrew the screw and the setting will remain the same.

  • nice this helped gunna cleanmain jet inside carb

  • Right on man ....... Favourited this video .

Thankyou for making it so simple .

  • @rex4x4 Thanks, If it's really bad, you'd have to pull the carb off, which is a lil more complicated.

  • @Fearlessfront that would blow ..... thanks for the video .

  • NO WAY. I have that same mower, how fast does it go? I want to make it into a racing mower!

  • @DosAmigosDnZ same as the red one? I donno about the speed, it's all stock.. probably 8mph

  • @Fearlessfront Thanks, and yeah the red one!

  • @DosAmigosDnZ I got this one free 3 years ago, the guy who gave it to me said quote: "This piece of shit will never run again"... I mow my lawn with it every week! lol

  • @Fearlessfront Well I got mine for free too. THe guy told me to bring it over when I get it running, that was about two years ago lol. I have not yet got it to run. I can get the power to the sullinoid(if that is how you spell it). but it does not "click". and I cannot find out how. I have tried bypassing the sullinoid, but i mented my fathers screwdrivers. maybe bad gas in it or something!

  • @DosAmigosDnZ is the starter tring to start? or nothing at all? Maybe check the compression if you can, at least you'll know if it CAN run.

  • @Fearlessfront There is Nothing, Ok I will check the compression! THe engine spins, maybe it has bad gas in it, so that could be a problem!

  • NO WAY. I have that same mower, how fast does it go?

  • would this be the basi same process for a snowmobile as well?

  • @FearlessRomp not sure on that one, I don't usually mess with snowmobiles

  • cool!

  • Does anyone have a 8hp Tecumseh Carb they don't want. My carbs cracked and I don't have money for new 1

  • would this keep the mower from crankin

if the carb is really dirty

  • @TheRUSSELLBOY you mean not turning over at all? or not firing up?

  • In ways its actually easier to pull the whole carb off - but for a quick clean itll work. Ill have to try some brake cleaner next time- might work better then carb cleaner.

To avoid draining the tank a simple $5 shut off valve before the fuel filter will save the trouble - i keep mine closed when i fill the tanks to avoid excess pressure on the float valve.

  • @dangeroustoys56 yeah, his mower gets neglected pretty bad. oh well, it still runs like a top. I think all mowers should come with a fuel shut off.

  • @Fearlessfront : most new ones come with an 'antifire' or afterfire solenoid on the carb- does basically the same thing as a shut off valve- problem is after a while they stick or dont work right - like you said- its easier to have a manual shut off valve - but lazy people today wouldnt use it anyway......

  • ight thanks man cuze ive just been sparkin it at the silanoid and finly burnt out the cyloniod and the power wire so i wanna we do the wire and make the power wire bigger gage also what are your thought on installin a car battery

  • @TheRUSSELLBOY Ive done it before, it add more weight but it'll work. You might have to cut the hole bigger.

  • hey please do a video on how your key start work if it isnt stock because my mower wont start with the key crank i think its because of the safety switches

  • @TheRUSSELLBOY this weekend it'll be up

  • I'd like to see how to wire a push button start

  • @bubbawinchester it's the next video to put up, I just need to finish editing it.

  • @Fearlessfront THANK GOD! I NEED TO SEE IT! THANK YOU

  • I have never cleaned the carb on my mower. I do run the gas low in the fall and about half way through the winter I put some fresh gas in and let it run for a little while and in the spring start mowing. May not be the right way but has worked for the last 10 years. I'm just lazy I guess.

  • @bulldog0046 Yeah, me too!

  • and then if you save the old gas you can use it to have a burn pile lol

  • is that a 12hp briggs?

  • @mrwtfmate100 11hp, but yeah, they're all 28 cu. in.

  • might be able to fix the flooding problems my honda clone has been having. didnt check the float and i think that might be the problem. thanks for vid.

  • @brodie1709 I'd bet it is, it seems as though most problems stem from the carb.

  • Great vid! i love yours videos lol when will u upload your next one? :D

  • @c1rca121 Soon, I've been trying to keep it on a weekly schedule. The next one is of me rewiring the craftsman with a push button ignition.

  • Cool man, Thanks for the vid!

  • @DJRockinRob No problem! I love helping people!

  • nice vid man! I should get my mower tractor going soon too! keep the vids coming !

  • @arild365 I'm trying to keep them coming weekly, it's tough with all the other sh!t I have to do.

    Thanks!

  • @Fearlessfront yah man, im suprised your even able to do one a week! its hard to take the camera out with you and edit all that shit. Gerat job!

  • This is a good video because even if you change the inline filter every year and drain the gas there's almost always water in the bowl. I never thought about oil on the bowl gasket, good tip.

  • @jasonmushersee Haha, yeah I didn't do either... I donno why, I'm usually pretty good about doing that. It actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.

    Thanks!

  • didn't you lock that differential

  • @buildingfern no, I locked an extra transaxle that I had. I've been toying with the idea of swapping it out to the locked trans... It would make it easier to mow certain areas of my property.
