I really want to see him doing another clinic like this, but playing songs from Suck On This/Frizzle Fry. I know he's older now & doesn't play those olde songs the way he used to, but I still wanna see him do Pudding Time, Groundhog's Day, Frizzle Fry, To Defy the Laws of Tradition, Mr Knowitall, Jellikit, the olde version of Tommy the Cat, Harold of the Rocks, The Toys Go Winding Down.. Mmm. ^_^
What is he doing at the end where it sounds like double bass? Is he doubling up the right hand on that timbale? Or is he playing double bass? I thought Tim didn't use a double bass.
@Calebdrums5679 that IS doable with doubles on the right foot. he isn't playing diddles with his right hand. i guess he does use double bass, you can kinda see his left foot moving. i always though they were bonham triplets...
@Calebdrums5679 He's playing triplets leading with the right hand on the gong drum, and the second two notes on the bass drum (with the double pedal, note his left leg moving).
And it was the other Primus drummer Brain that was only a single pedal player. Herb uses the double pedal here and there, in Primus tracks like Winona's Big Brown Beaver and The Toys Go Winding Down etc. And the Laundry track What is Great he uses it a lot.
@DuNordavind Herb uses double bass in just about EVERY Primus song^_^ He's always alternating between double kick, & hi hats. His seemless transitions are just another aspect of his awesomeness.
hey guys see those two transparent drums above the china? the one that are set pretty high?
can anyone tell me what it is? there's a bigger one in the clip for my name is mud wich he uses in the end of the song (he's using floor tom in this video)... in the clip it is set in the place of a normal tom but its like... half a tom? so weird but sound crazy good!
@hugetoad45 i believe they are roto-toms... but they also sort of look like timbales, hard to tell on this video, but knowing the way he plays, i would guess roto toms.
i never thought that this would be a good song on drums only because it drags on in a way. the drums never really change until the end when the DRUMS get good. but it is still a great beat if its backed up by bass and guitar.
love his drums TAMA BABY!!! thats what i have i mean dont get me wrong triggerd drums dont sound bad at all but his just listen to them those r not triggerd at all thats the sound of the acutual drums themselves would be surprised if his shells r babinga shell instead of maples maples produce attack and thats it birch which is what i have provides punch thats about it but babinga porvides both projection and punch i have a superstar custom wnanna know how to rec vids properly so i can upload
@The1ne07 Good job, you just told everyone how to distinguish a pretty obvious bassline from a bass drum! Id give you a golf clap but my hands are still sore from playing this on bass
even though its not bass drum triplets on the actual song doesn't mean you couldn't play it that way. I learned the song the actual way then tried the triplets through out the song...its rough but possible, alotta fun though too.
@The1ne07 you know i thought the very same thing when i first heard this tune many moons ago, sometimes i just add the bass drum triplets to match the bass guitar lol.

all those cymbals may seem a bit extreme, but I reckon that was a big part of the punchbowl sound.

@Mattdrumin101 they are sold in singles, only cheap versions of everything are sold in pairs or more.
excluding the obvious, hopefully obviously.

Alot of people think it's bass drum triplets, when it's really Les' bass that sounds like Herb's bass drum.
