I began smoking pot after a "jon benet" type incident in my home. I smoked pot through college, and I will admit, through a police academy. I made an A in the academy, was named by the instructor as best in patrol procedures, and was known as a "deadeye" shot.) I have been diagnosed repeatedly with PTSD but mj allows me to function. Also, now that I am getting old when I do not smoke mj all my joints hurt.

To me, this is an issue of liberty more than anything.

Weed helped me get out of OCD. I could focus again, anxiety symptoms dissapeared, and I'm not saying that happened when I was high. I love weed hangovers. And since OCD, PTSD, Panic Attacks etc are all caused by anxiety (caused by some sort of memorable event)... weed is the best cure for that. Over time the amygdala (center of anxiety regulation in the brain) drops the old patterns of acting upon anything that would cause anxiety and you're back to normal. It is a truely magnificent plant.

I heard about those studies. I decided to read them thoroughly however and not let someone pick out parts of them and spoon feed them to me. They don't quite say what you're saying either. While MJ was stated that it COULD cause Paranoid Schizophrenia there are too many underlying factors that could have also triggered it to point directly to MJ as the primary cause. If you think that the POSSIBLE side effects of MJ are bad...look into the "legal" medications being used for PTSD.

He came out of retirement b/c he was so devoted to really helping people with cannabis & he's seen how people with no hope can finally have hope & nearly normal lives. Now I'm so much better. Helps so many people w/ pain, ptsd, depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress. States must DECRIMINALIZE cannabis NOW. Hang in there! Irie.

I've had PTSD since the 1970's. I was given Klonopin by my shrink to control it or I was facing a heart attack. I don't have many choices since I am allergic to nearly all medications. Klonopin made me a zombie. My shrink said he was worried about my heart so he sent me to have an EEg and EKG. My heart is not normal in any respect and there's nothing anyone can do to fix it. I smoke marijuana to control my PTSD. Death is worse than breaking the law but I can be victimized twice for havinf PTSD

First of all I never said that I got PTSD in Vietnam...you did. While those fellas were fighting to survive over there I was fighting to survive over here. I won't get into the specifics, just that bad shit happens and evil changes you. Surviving that evil is another matter altogether. I did spent time with some vets when they got back and we had the same problems. The night terrors, sleep disorders, problems with being in crowds, feeling like you're under attack all of a sudden.

@higgies82 Actually many, many women served in viet nam, mostly in field hospitals & supply stations, not exactly "combat" duty, but right in the middle of combat zones. in addition to combat trauma, most women in the military are subjected to varying degrees of sexual assault & harassment & punishment for whistleblowing .. all of which can cause trauma to the mind/brain.
