Lots of guys praise the Ferrari sound, not because it sounds heavenly, but because they read it in car and driver and top gear. Honest, the F430 sound is just a bit more sophisticated than a Honda Civic Type-R because it is essentially 2 type-R engines sharing a common crankshaft! I don't think Ferrari don't tunes their exhausts (Porsche has a special room just for that!); they are the least impressive of the supercars. Each to his own, I guess, but no Ferrari comes close to matching this. NONE!

Turbos always soften the sound, in any engine - the Turbo has always been the most ordinary-sounding Porsche - current n/a Porsches, especially the GT3 RS and old 1970s 911s, such as the 1973 RS, sound great

Turbos knock off about 1/3 the sound energy. I run straight dual 3" exhaust with just mid mounted race mufflers on my twin turbocharged Porsche 928 and the sound is still quite nice.

The 911 turbo has the worst sound for a 100k+ car. It should sound similar if not the same as the Carrera GT.

911 turbo has a flat six versus a V-10 in the Carrera, I prefer the sound of the Carrera's V-10.

This has a unique sound, nothing that Ferrari could come up with. They use V12s and V8s anyways, this is a V10.
