This show was awesome, only like 30 or so people there. I thought Kaki was reacting to one of the guys i came with, we meant no disrespect, but she got into it sick on the guitar. We loved her performance... And the chat about, as i called it "Gaycism" funny but a good word for it. it's true how Kaki felt. Good to see it made Kaki smile a bit about it. Glad i was there to experience her being real, and cry. thats a true artist. Loved her performance, here and at the Troubadour in hollywood.
my dude, you werent the one she was mad at. there was some douchebag to the right of us in the booths yelling out "PLAY MUSIC" while she was trying to talk to us. you guys were absolutely fine. and HILARIOUS. 'gaycism' is going in the vocabulary. lolz.
thats good to know. We love Kaki, we look up to her as a musician, guitarist but mostly just as a person.
It really is "gaycism," i think that needs to go into everybody's vocab. It surprised me that cali didn't give gays their rights. Cali of all places. I know my generation voted for marriage, my generation also put Obama in the white house. Thats whats weird, 1but not the other. Its sad. All in time, theyll wake up and separate church and state.
if I were Kaki i wouldn't play to such audience, with such ignorant an mean person there but I'm scared how professional she is, the beauty of the song wasn't affected for her anger.
However, nice new hair cut, she look really beautiful, reminds me a bit Sinéad o'connor, at least there in the dark
It's in the video description, but Kaki King found out during her between-song banter with her friend Ericka that a longtime fan from San Francisco voted for Prop. 8 (banning gay marriage), which affected King so much that she broke down onstage. This video was shot 2-3 songs afterward.
but i also dont think he voted for anything at all.
it was the asshole comments about the presidential election and prop 8 that angered me and kaki.
im over being mad, as ive addressed it. she, on the other hand, just found out about it at the show, because she had been going through our myspace/twitter pages.
anger ensued.
and im mad i even said anything at this point when she asked.
Her emotion bled in to the performance though. Had she not been told, then this emotionally charged rendition of this song would have never been played. I don't wish her to be angry, but the fact that she was made the music better. Emotion = good music.
Oh wait. I remember now. It's you and your upgraded camera! I met you after the show. I can't wait to find time to check out the photos on your website. ;)
koganuts, please upload the video of her playing Night After Sidewalk from this show. If I remember correctly, it was right after Magazine.

'sick on the guitar' - that song was called 'Magazine'.
It was funny how one of you guys said to her that she looked sexy when she cried. Good times. Oh, and I was also there at the Troubadour.

I was sitting next to Erica and omg, what a night! I have the whole show filmed.
Where were you sitting? I didn't see anyone else with a camera? And you uploaded fast! I can't get any of my videos up because wireless hates me!
Thank you for this btw. :)
