@toron2haruto5 I have to say Ike has a major problem with spammer characters like Link overall. He was one of my most hated matchups. The hard part is getting it, and simply making sure you stay in. Run up and shield a lot (when he throws his boomerang), also try to avoid double jumping. Try to save your second jump because he wants you to double jump (it leaves you with less options -- Ike has little options in the air with no second jump).

new smash is in the works. After all the grief over roy's removal im sure ike will remain and roy will be returned along with eliwood and lyn from the fire emblem series. And i can almost guarantee Cloud will be a third party addition aswell as sora from kindgom of hearts. But only time can tell.

@1969Stingray427 Well it's not that simple. Some things, like 50/50 mixups don't exactly come down to timing. It's more like guessing and prediction and the more of these your character has, along with various other factors is what really determines what makes a character good or not. The fact that the risk/reward factor for Ike is so high makes him fun to play for me but in the end, characters with a more balanced risk/reward factor will naturally be better than others.

You play almost exactly like me except i dont tend to use grabs. I also use alot of jab canceling to build up damage, do a quick down smash jump jump up+a. But damn you are one insane player. Too bad wifi fails =/

Ive came in 2nd twice with Ike. Though his attacks are slow his footwork isnt. And you dont use all the big attacks first, build up the damage and its done. I use him defensively because he's so slow. To throw off predictors, I only charge up an attack as a counter option. If you use him defensively ppl with think be4 they attack. Ppl hate when I use him.

Because Ike is slow and apparently predictable, it throws people's judgement off and they automatically assume that that Ike player is a noob when they first see them. Ike takes a lot of thought to use properly. Also, his sword length is deceptive. These things combined makes Ike a very effective character.

All you have to do is stay out of jab range (which is really easy to do for some characters), and there isn't much he can do that you can't stop on REACTION.

The key to being an effective Ike is a combination of speed ,combos, and mind games, in my opinion. Without speed, Ike's smash attacks, as well as most of his other attacks, are particularly slow and easily avoided, which is why wolf that keeps dodging in your instance.
