the reason you need a dull bit is so it won't cut away as much in one try, the sharp bit will try and cut too much and while forcefully trying to remove the glass will end up cracking it
This gives me an idea for next years coursework... Could you just use a trio of different coloured normal LED's, but use a pcb circuit to rotate the colours?
Also, love the comment at 12:30 about having more busted electronics than working ones one the first try. This is incredibly true/important. If things aren't working as expected after the first try, do NOT worry. Check your connections and try again ;)
just wanted to post a great place I've used before to order LEDs: (google search oznium and click their LED link) They are great!!!! Customer Service, products, etc. are all way above standard.
I might make a really small version of that like 2 lights for my art GSCE identity project next year. Though I'd probs have to rewatch this like 9 times cause that just frazzled my brain.
@PotatoOrgy the reason you don't use sharp drill bits on the plexi is because of how sharp the bit is it will grip the plexi as it gets drilled deeper (that's what she said)
If you want to help keep costs down, look up Adafruit. They have a 10 pack to 2 prong slowfade Diffused RGB leds for $4.95 a pack. And for something like this you should only need 1/4 inch plexiglass ( 1/4" 24"x48" should run you about $40-$100 depending on where you look ).
Awesome job Potato! Very professional work good editing, good commentary, and good end result I'd like to see more stuff like this from you. Maybe next time you go to build a new PC you could do a tutorial. I'm experienced at building them but I get really nervous around water cooling systems.
@maddog218 the posterboard doesn't support ANY weight. The entire weight of the plexi is ontop of the PVC pipes. And the PVC pipes are supported by the wood of the table. The box is 'freefloating' between the two.
@MonkeyRiot7777 oh well 2nd but anyway if you get your kicks from telling people off who miss the 1st comment by just about 1 second then your must have a pretty bad life so i feel sorry for you because thats pretty bad :/
