No. The system you see there is a "recoil" operation. When the propellant gas pushes the bullet forward the gun recoils in the opposite direction (Newton's third law). most of the energy goes into pushing the barrel and slide backwards. As the barrel and slide move they remain locked togther for a short distance (usually a few millimeters). By the time the barrel unlocks and tilts down, the bullet has left the barrel, so accuracy is unaffected by the movement.
@HeatSroken777 No, it doesn't affect accuracy. As you see, the barrel rotates down when the slide is pulled back, it then comes forward and locks the barrel into place.
BORING!:d

its intresting if you think about it that the way a gun works has not changed in over 100 years

I see how you may succeed to convert it full auto!
Just cut off upper part of that big blue lever thing that is pushed down by the cycling slide,right!?
it would be impressive full auto with 20 rounds!
mfilip62 2 years ago
actually it would need an "auto sear" which would trip the striker only after the wepon went into battery.

@mfilip62 XDm .40 doesn't have 20 rounds. The 9mm does
