these people who draw back thier hands further than the length of thier middle finger are not doing a true one inch punch!. a true one inch punch (even then its slightly more than 1 inch) is when you place your finger tips at the target, and from THAT point close you first and extend your fore arm putting your body wieght behind the extension
and just like Bruce Lee used to joking say... "boards dont hit back" lol.
Hey you pulled back that last second. It's was just barely but you did do it. That kills the purpose in haveing a preset distance to limit yourself with, you had extra power.
ok, one, that's a damn good punch check out mine from a few months back, two his is better than mine 'cause his is a held break which is harder than mine which was done on concrete. Granted mine was with two boards but had it been a held break, i wouldn't have been able to do it. Good job!
Well you are walking the path to enlightenment! If you are going to hit boards like that often you need to protect your knuckles.Line the knuckles up with the grain, so the break occurs vertically and hold the board at the sides not above and below. As your explosive action becomes more refined you will be able to break thicker boards- up to 50cm. Use yellow pine
ahm, yes, of course it breaks into two perfect halves. yes, of course.
btw, one inch punch is in my eyes a funny trick. it just uses a power called "fa jin" or "fajin", you learn it for example in Tai Chi. it means that you have a short way to the target but much power. look it up at wikipedia.
The one or three-inch "floating punch" was somewhat popularized by Bruce Lee and his students. It is/was in actuality from within that range. The idea could be adapted from greater ranges as well.
of course its not a one inch punch, its just called that due to the fact that you start with it at your fingertips, its not literally a one inch punch, still amazing
not only is your hand pulled back, but your arm is bent which is giving you extra power. this is more of a regular punch then a one inch. you fail.

if you try to pause at 0:08, notice his hand is pulled back to a distance of 4-5 inches. CHEATER. Disliked.
ethannguyen1991 9 months ago
-1 inch is with your fingers bent
-body should be turned the other way, otherwise you're gaining a lot more power
-pulled your fist way back before punching the board
-you can tell just from the sound that that wood is weak
69SKE69 10 months ago
That's a 2 inch punch, his fingers are longer than 1 inch.
Rimsa 1 year ago
1) Pulled his fist back.
2) Those boards are not strong at all.
That's about it...
Try again.
