Well,thank you all, so very much for your kind comments. I am Loretta from the film. Its truly comforting to know I 'm not the only one that remembers this film. To this day, it remains my favourite. I believe Philip is now a Funeral Director. But, as yet, I have been unable to find him. I would love a chat about our childhood. Keep well all, and thank you again.
Wow...what an impact 'Hand in Hand' had on me in the 60's when I watched it! When was the film actually filmed, and how long did the filming last? I've seen some sources that have it filmed in 1960, and others 1961. I've also wondered at times where the scene takes place where you and Philip are hitch hiking...It looks beautiful, even though it's in black and white. It's interesting that most people who have watched it seem to remember that you two 'ran away'.
It's interesting that most people who have watched it seem to remember that you two 'ran away', when you actually never did. Anyway, I hope things have turned out well for the two of you, and I hope you find 'Michael'. I was so happy that 'Hand in Hand' finally came out on DVD (Amazon). Thanks for the memories!
That's right, the girl was alright. I remember this episode when I watched it as a child. This was one of my favorite episodes of the CBS Children's Film Festival.
This film made such an impact on me the first time I saw it many years ago. I have been trying to track down a copy, but have not been successful. I did get a chance to watch the entire film on the christian channel, TBN last year and it was just as powerful as it was many years ago.
I can't believe I found this after 40 years. I only remembered that I watched it on some show with KUKLA, FRAN & OLLIE on a Saturday morning sometime around 1969. Rachel (Loretta Parry) was my first big "TV personality" crush. I loved this film when I was a kid. It has always stuck with me. Who would of thought that with a little luck (and the internet), I'd be able to see it again....atleast part of it. Thanks for the memories Rachel!!
i would like to watch this classic again, but i never found in DVD. Is one of favorites movies from my childhood, and Loretta was an angel. I remember her in an episode of "Garrison's Gorillas" and no more.

Well, this was a very depressing clip. So does the little girl die?

@bluecatky
No, the boy just thinks she did. I think that sort of ending would have been too traumatizing for kids on Saturday afternoons. ;)
