well, that's your opinion. but i happen to think Kim Anh did an incredible job with this song here. having been a singer, myself, i can really appreciate how Kim Anh here is taking a step beyond w/ a song to seal it as her own. Mua Thu La Bay has been Kim Anh's signature song for years to Vietnamese worldwide, & obviously, she's performed it oh-so-many times throughout her career. When any singer is lucky enough to have a signature song, the song also becomes a part of him or her and so..
if he/ she can take it to the next level by using subtle modifications, playing with the notes, vocal acrobatics, etc... which can't be learned or taught, but something only a few seasoned vocalists are capable of doing. For me, that's what separates a singer from an artist! And Kim Anh's interpretation here is a perfect example of how a seasoned singer has honed her skills to become an artist with creativity. As for TDD, she's smart enough to realize she's not a veteran yet, & plays it safe
TDD's interpretation is a competent one, clean and flawless w/ everything from the basic tempo she sings in, her pronunciation, her pitch, etc... were all well-polished leaving no room for criticism. I must concede that TDD does have a likeable voice and as far as this track goes, TDD does a fine job, i.e. she sang in tune, and sang it pretty much like the original recording. But it is Kim Anh here that really made me impressed!
