Medicare cuts wouldn't be like this, they would make it solvent and last longer. Hired people call you night and day to bug you to donate and then take 30% off the top of what you donate for their "business expenses" and then additional expenses for salaries, stock payout and special bonuses to those who sucker the most people into donating and maybe some money for the services might actually go to those who know people in management... what's left goes to those not dead yet.
Your medicare gets replaced with a voucher that corporate greed eventually devalues to a buy-one, get-one free McDonalds salad (with purchase of a large soda), and a two week trial membership at Shapes.

@jaystarstar actually what many of them want to do is get rid of SS completely, because instead of being forced to pay into SS many of us know we can do better than the 1.6% (lower than inflation) return people are currently getting. That's for the lucky few who receive their SS payments before it's gone bankrupt. The people who have already been promised SS should receive it, but allow people to opt out of SS and invest their own money instead of throwing it away.

If we simply raise the age 4 years it can be solvent. However, no one should DEPEND on government for retirement. Especially when the federal reserve keeps printing money. $5,000 in SS this year is LESS than $4,000 last year because of INFLATION (dollar fell over 20%).
I don't care because I work for a municipality and we do not pay into Social Security. The government requires all persons to pay into Social Security EXCEPT municipal workers. I and others have tried to get the city to pay into it, but unsuccessful, and also written to representatives. And even if we pay, we are penalized by receiving only 1/2 of our entitlement. I am paid up through working parttime another job. So I do hope that we all have to work till we die, like me and others.

Working long hard hours, my X wives took all my real estate property and personal property in divorce actions under the supervision of deranged judges and the Good Old Boy routine .I am now 85 and still employed thanks to the California creeps in the "justice' system.
