I'm beginning to think Ben is the most capable because he has little or no emotional attatchment, which helps him keep a cool head. The Coopers are worried about their daughter, the young couple are worried about each other and Barbara is still distraught about losing her brother, so they can't take a step back and asses the situation like he can.

@fukmore0423 I believe in the rigormortis process, a fresh zombie is fast, as they damage their muscle tissue they slow down. Human muscles operate off of ATP (Adenine Tri-Phosphate). If they are fresh, they will have more of it, so they can move faster. The undead must have some kind of alternate way of metabolising ATP from the tissue of fresh victims. This would aid the spread of the infection, a person goes down, and gets up quickly attacking, then slows down, by then, it has spread.
