ahhh i'm still sorta confused! i think i get too close to the net and thats y i'm screwing it up, but my coach said it's like this "right, left, right-left" sort of thng and then i guess i'm screwing up on the timing 2 -_____- aughh this is the only thing i'm so depressing on!!! xC oh and probably serving, but i'm small and asian, so u know.... :P
@lifesong000000001 Your coach is asking you to do 4 steps approach. Just imagine you're walking and jump up at the last 2 steps really quickly. Then you can walk faster and jump up again in the same tempo. Practice with a player that is always familiar with the approach, you need to do this over 100 hundred times to be able to get used to it. Keep at it.
@lifesong000000001 You approach is to create your momentum, you are converting the force going forward into jumping up. Your arm swing will help you along the way.
This is an easy way to get your approach down, and remember to snap by throwing the tennis ball straight down... only one thing, remember to throw your arms back then front, dont jump so close to the net, and you should also be landing with your feet together :)
Why do girls swing their arms facing diagonally from their torso instead of parallel to it?

I must say, I really like the idea of using a ball to direct your arm swing. Brilliant. =)

The girl at 9 seconds does a 4 step run up. As a taller player I also prefer doing 4 steps.
