one thing is sure, when you talking about teams that failed in drafts lets say Vancouver Grizzlies you have to think they never knew what will turn out to be a complete failure, becouse look at 2011 draft we dont know what will be a failure in next 2 or 3 years. We never knew that Oden will be a failure. Its a life and nobody is perfect.

@BaltijosTigras a bigger reason for the fall of the Grizzlies was the lack of support from their owners. Both owners that were in charge neglected the team and did not support them as other owners did. They did not make trades to make the team better and there was no intentions of keeping the franchise there and they wanted to get out quick. Funny because it wasn't the lack of fan support, but because of the wrong mentallity they had towards the Vancouver Grizzlies.

A lot of good players in this draft from top to bottom. You may be right. BRand before his injuries in 2007 was freakin awesome, consistent 20-10 guy who played his heart off and could get 2 Blocks per game as an excellent defender. If the Bulls kept him they would have made the playoffs before 2005 (which was first yr in playoffs post dynasty era). Hamilton from 1999-2008 was awesome as well but he has digressed big time and his attitude in Detroit is very poor.

@jgb191. Steve Francis was the most overrated player in this draft---he was all flash and isn;t even in the league now. Odom has probably been the most solid player from start of career untl now. never a star but an excellent role player/6th man. Trajan Langdon had an excellent first two seasons in the NBA but then a knee injury took his career away. Maggette started out well but has fizzled of late. William Avery=BUST. Duke had 4 players drafted in the lottery in 1999.

@JZ2001JC I was never high on Langdon. Size wise, he's short, his jump shot was so-so and his footwork was bleh. He wasn't going to be a starter and he'd damn have to take his game to a new level to play the bench. Sure he looked great in Duke but his individual game doesn't translate well in the pros.

Maggette perservered, but there is a reason why he's bounced around despite being able to get to the line. Crappy team player I hear.

yeah from top to bottom, this was one of the most complete drafts in a long time. there was no franchise-changing player, like a lebron/carmello/wade, but all-star talent players were plenty in this draft: elton brand, steve francis, rip hamilton, shawn marion, barron davis, lamar odom, cory maggette, ron artest, jason terry, manu ginobili, andrei kirelinko, wally szczerbiak.
