  • Love the R1 i'm curious how hard was it to fit the Dig unit and does it take up much space as id like to keep my battery inside the frame if possible, don't want to ruin it's looks lol, also what shocks you running?

  • @cheekykarl I found the dig pretty easy to fit, just down load the instructions from JUNFAC to help, plus head over to the Rccrawler forum for more help and pics. A small lipo fits in nice and you still get pretty good runtime.

The shocks are from Fastrax, they are about 80mm long so they lower the COG and help reduce the torque twist.

  • @xMMAATTx Ta fella been looking about for some shocks to sort that twist out i'll have to have a look for some, ah i'll order one this week and see get it in and see how it runs, ta for the quick reply :)

  • @cheekykarl check out the rccrawler forum for more hints and tips also.

  • like i cant get it to engage and disengage with my hands while its on the car so i dnt know how a servo will move it lol

  • @mechqeust - Try rolling the truck forward as you try it.

  • @xMMAATTx heyy um what servo are you using because ive blown like 3 servos with this dig haha so i was jsut wondering what you are using and what radio are you using to?

    Cheers

    Matt

  • @mechqeust Hiya, I'm just using a standard futaba servo. I use a spektrum dx3, it has end point adjustment for the servos. You need to set the EPA so the servo isn't getting stressed when it reaches the end of its travel. (your servo is constantly pushing when in dig mode).

If your radio hasn't got EPA than you might be able to adjust the throw on the servo by bringing your dig link closer the servo spline to lessen its travel.

    Hope this makes sense!

  • @xMMAATTx yeah i have the dx3e would u be able to take a pic of want your end point adjustments r set to so i can set mine to the same and how muhc was your servo?? and what kind of futuba?'

    Cheers

    Matt

  • @mechqeust , Sorry for the late reply fella! The servo is a standard s3003, cost about £10 max. My DX3 has a digital display so my settings might have no relevance to the analogue settings on the dx3e. Are you still haveing big problems dialing it in mate? Have you been to the junfac website and had a look at the instructions there, it might make the setup a little clearer. Good luck mate!

  • @xMMAATTx yeah its ok nah i think i got it all good now but not absolutly sure lol so i only use it when i absolutley need to and does your whole tranny move when switching it on and off?

  • @mechqeust No tranny movement on mine, it's pretty solid on the skid. If yours has movement, then it wont help with trying to dial it in.

  • @xMMAATTx yeah i dunno what wrong with mine then lol i might just pull it apart and put it back on and maybe cut the outer drive shaft smaller and grease everything up aye

  • @mechqeust Yeah, you deffo need to cut the shaft. Have you seen these instructions...

    ***.junfac.com/shop/images/option_parts/r1/dig/instruction/r1_dig_instruction.jpg

    repace stars with www

  • @xMMAATTx yeah ive cut it i just might cut it a bit more

  • @xMMAATTx oh and are the bent links worth buying?

  • @mechqeust Yeah, I think so, there pretty cheap anyway :-)

  • im starting to think i wasted my money on it

  • i cant even get mine to slide easy or anything like the drive shafts

  • @mechqeust - Explain in more detail what's happening? Are your rear wheels just rolling and not locking?

  • and with a 3 channel aux cahnnel can you use 1 dig for front and rear dig or do u need to buy 2 dig units?

  • @mechqeust ...the dig is only for the rear wheels. Position 1 - 4 wheel drive......Position 2 - front wheel drive with rear wheels free wheeling........Position 3 - front wheel drive with rear wheels locked (dig).

I have mine just switching from 4x4 (Pos1) to rear wheel dig (Pos3). This works great with a two position switch on my 3rd channel. You will neel a 3 position switch on your 3rd channel to use the free wheel option also.

    Hope this makes sense!

  • r you using the gmade r1 carbon steel drive shafts with the dig?

  • @mechqeust , no, my originals are holding up fine so far.

  • how long did it take you to get it

  • @mechqeust about 2 weeks from the time of ordering.

  • is it worth buying a dig

  • @mechqeust Yep, it does help a lot for tight turns, hanging off ledges and digging the front down on tricky climbs.

  • @xMMAATTX right on bro. Lemme kno if it works. I wanna get one these cuz they look like a scale crawler an I'm gettin a scx10 and wanna build one these and a couple others. What kind of esc/motor/reciever r u using ?

  • @camaross92 I'm using a mamba sidewinder esc, a 45t intergy motor and a specktrum reciever.

  • @xMMAATTx well axialviper is runnin the castle sidewinder micro esc and a tekin motor and soon as he lets off the trigger it STOPS... jus givin u an idea.. he says in the vid that the combo was runnin wasnt suposed to work but it does.. and he also downloaded the programing for the esc.. im not sure on specifics tho.. if u want more info about the electronics jus hit him up.. but i kinda wanna buy one of these for like show and have a losi comp crawler too.. are these complicated to build or no?

  • @camaross92 Thanks fella, I'll try updating the firmware on my esc to see if that helps. These are really fun to build, and not to complicated, the instructions are pretty good :-)

  • @xMMAATTx hey bud sweet rig. Um so no drag brake on these huh ? And I see r1 (with) dig ? Doesn't come factory ??? Sweet vid

  • @camaross92

Thanks fella :-) The lack of drag brake is down to my esc! The dig is an optional extra, worth it though.

  • Hi Mat !!!

Recognized you very well ! Fantastic demo !!!

But still your drag brake seems to be weak dos'nt it ?

I know it cost money but i'm in love with the Orion combo brushless crawler with a Vortex ESC 70A. Since we dont have worm pignons on our R1 like the kyosho Rock crawler & Losi comp would have, we gotta invest on a electronic type of drag brakes ;-(

    This vid is smashing !!!

  • @philippeclement

    Hi Phil,

Yep my drag brake is useless....it's on the max setting too!! :-(

When I have some spare cash I'll invest in a new ESC. I'll try and dial my settings on my Spektrum next time I'm out.

  • Thanks :-)

  • Nice driving! ;-)
