  • I'd like to dedicate this to Tom Brady. Go Ravens!

  • Really Like

  • I think this was released in 1980, not 1979.

  • @davepmillerus Release dates hold no interest for me, davepmillerus. That's why composition/recordings dates are usually shown in my uploads (Underwater Moonlight's tracks were recorded September 1979/July 1980). Anyway, I've been reading up on it on the Net, and this song was most likely recorded January/March 1980, so... motion passed. ; )

  • Very good!

  • Love this fucking song!!!

  • To the Teapublicans

  • @yb4neal Give up on the hate. Try to be tolerant, like you tell others to do. Also, the Tea Party will outlast the Presidency of the current occupant.

  • sharpling

  • Pretty good.

  • and why not? if u did the same.

  • I dedicate this song to Onision and Shiloh.

  • circle jerks virsion is better

  • @needmypunk

Great song! Circle Jerks version is crap.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva Don't you go bashing circle jerks, Ian MacKaye is one the best punk musicians of all time.

  • @heroiniskindacool

Is this called ... punk?? ... It sounds like typical top40 to me, like Green Day.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva Soft boys was a post-punk/New wave band. Ian MacKaye was the lead singer of circle jerks and Fugazi.

Also, this is nothing like Green day.

  • @heroiniskindacool Ian MacKaye never sang for the Circle Jerks, that was Keith Morris, Ian MacKaye sang for Minor Threat

  • @meatwad13666 Ah, usually mix em up. Never cared much for hardcore (except for black flag, like everyone else)

I respect Ian MacKaye for his work with fugazi (repeater was one of the greatest records of all time) but i never cared that much for minor threat.

  • @heroiniskindacool

Circle Jerks formed in 1979, classic punk was almost dead then. Their version of this song is late 80s-early 90s. Many years later. One of best punk musicians? I wouldn't call CJ punk, just top40 fake metal. Definitely they are very close to Green Day. There are millions of bands like CJ. I never liked them.

I'd say Soft Boys is "punk". "Punk" is not a fashion, not boredom too.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva "Classic" punk is awful, some of the best punk bands are from the mid 80's (Hüsker dü, The gun club, big black, etc)

But you're a troll, and i guess there's no reasoning with you. Soft-boys is post-punk (clearly superior to punk in every way)

  • @heroiniskindacool

I like hundreds of 60s garage punk and 70s punk bands. I just don't like Circle Jerks.

I don't know what troll means. Is it something like World Of Warcraft or Harry Potter? Some kids use such expressions. I don't even know if heroin is cool.

We have a completely different idea about what punk, rock and music is.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva You can't have the handle "b3yonc3LLLuva" and like soft machine and the residents without being a troll.

    Unless you're being ironic

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva I don't like them either. Circle Jerks are pretty bland. I think they're just one of those bands that punk rockers just say they like to look cool.

  • @wallsofink So far as I can tell, 'wild in the streets' was their only good song. They certainly added nothing to this one.

  • @wallsofink

group sex is a bona fide classic.all their other releases are meh

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva Soft Boys ain't punk, and I'm pretty sure they would heavily oppose being called that. They incorporated 60s psychedelia influence, which you did NOT do in punk during that time.

  • @xreddragonx

That's why i said "punk". They had a punk sound and attitude in their music, but not only this.

I try to avoid categories. Many good musicians have elements from more than one music genre, more or less.

  • @heroiniskindacool not all classic punk is awful. never mind the bollocks, ramones debut, and london calling surely aren't horrible records? right??

  • I would like to dedicate this song to your daughters vagina

  • the usa national an anthem...

  • @nammcapp LMAO!

  • One asshole don't like it. I WANNA DESTROY YOU!

  • i dedicate this shit to uh my very own bottle of alcohol

  • I'd like to dedicate this song to...

The Inter-Alpha Group, the IMF, and the World Bank.

  • Great Song. I like that they start the RIF way early!

  • I've loved this entire LP from day one in 1981 when I bought it. It's recently come to my attention that it is somehow considered to be "lost" and obscure. Nothing could be further from the truth. "Underwater Moonlight" got plenty of well-deserved attention from student radio back in the day and became an instant classic.

  • I would like to dedicate this song to you

  • I'd like to dedicate this song to all the faggot JUSTIN BIEBER fans, so they're pushing the THUMB-DOWN, dislike button on everything that's not faggot's stuff. GOD SAVE THE SOFT BOYS!

  • I would like to dedicate this song to 90% of modern pop "musicians" who have never heard this record

  • I'd like to dedicate this to the British police, Rupert Murdoch, Glen Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Melanie Phillips, Andrew Brown, the Pope and Sarah Palin.

    To start with.

  • @jjdecani I believe you forgot Ann Coulter.

  • I'd like to dedicate this to my ex girlfriend :D :P

  • I can think of a LOT of people this song applies to...

  • Jeez, can we just concentrate on the fact that this is a seminal post-punk album and is deserving of so many more people hearing it? If everyone who is influenced by Robyn Hitchcock and the Soft Boys was taken out of the alternative music scene there'd scarcely be anyone left...

  • Opening cut from one of my all-time favorite LPs ...

  • The point is that it niether "British Petroleum" or "Beyond Petroleum". "British Petroleum" is a former name, and "Beyond Petroleum is a tagline that was used for an ad campaign, but this has nothing to do with "The Soft Boys", so lets allow the comment section to be devoted to something remotely related to them.

  • Robyn Hitchcock....strange, talented, weird and great live!

  • I'd like to dedicate this to the US medical and insurance industries. The day you're destroyed can't come quickly enough

  • @MrAlQ They'll be here long after you and I aren't. And if it weren't for them, you'd be dead a lot sooner. On second thought, hmmm....

  • This is the nazz!!!!!<3 it!!!!

  • first time I heard this I thought it must be a Beatles song that was never released...

    heh.

  • @antoniozart It very well could be mate!

  • what a catchy tune

  • I would like to dedicate this song to British Petroleum

  • @kynoceph oh how clever ... imitator

  • @kynoceph It's BEYOND Petroleum actually, not British. They're 60% owned by US & Scanadavian companies now y'know...

  • @diskochimp Stupid

  • @JoshuaThompsonM3 "British Petroleum" no longer exists. Beyond Petroleum, as it's now been re-branded, is just another of those global businesses open for investment from any individual or organisation with a stock broker on speed dial and a bit of spare cash to spend. The result is a business with no single investor with clear control, and no country which can claim a majority ownership. Allegedly.

  • @diskochimp Yeah, but it's not "Beyond Petroleum", that was just an ad campaign. It's official name is "BP plc". Just the initials of their former legal name.

  • @JoshuaThompsonM3 Estimated current shareholdings: 40% British, 39% American, 21% other / undisclosed.

  • Comment removed

  • @kynoceph I believe they have returned the compliment ad infinitum.

  • @kynoceph I wanna destroy you

  • @kynoceph I'd like to dedicate this song to haters like you two.

  • "a pox upon the media and everything you read. they tell you your opinions and they're very good indeed"

    brilliant

  • im 50 and remember this like i was 18 brilliant

  • ...I remember blasting this and my cousin who was a NWOBHM freak, said what the f*cks that?!?! ...I took it as a compliment!! ; )

  • Absolutely INCREDIBLE song! The greatest, my God....

I need this song again...thank you SO much for posting!!!!

(and yeah FUCK the media!!!!!!!! :)

  • excellent audio quality! thanks...

  • Amazing - had the album - lost it - saw them at the Camden Palace/Music Machine. Pity I can't find any live footage of them doing this track
