@Mamasan41 "His father made his chair, is that right? He only sat on this."
yes, according to E. W. Said (Music without Limits) apparently even; "when its padded cushion was worn through ... he sat on a single centrally placed board running the entire length of his crotch ... leaving two large empty spaces where his buttocks were unsupported ... thus the weight of his body had to come down on his perineum and gentals"
at the end of this film, when he is walking down the beach and the credits begin to roll, there is a beautiful solo piano piece. Does anybody know what that piece is? I must know!!!
About performing on stage - Glenn was not cut out for it, but many musicians are - some are in their element on stage - Gustavo Dudamel for one. Glenn was a genius and a different type of person. Both are geniuses in their own right.
I bet it was somewhat traumatizing to him in his later years. I couldn't imagine being at that point in life having to look back at it and see nothing but those greedy music hungry eyes staring at him.
GG gets very philosophical here, [@ 1:50] talking about concert touring, ending with his words; "And, um, one grows old very quickly, it's a dreadful life!"
He really, really loathed it, I think & it probably did, somehow, take "years off of his life"! :-(
@DesertAnnie You say----""He really, really loathed it, I think & it probably did, somehow, take "years off of his life"! :-(" ....... That and dozens of prescription medications, which he dosed out to himself according to his own judgment. And also a very poor diet.

wow...what is the name of this Eb/Cminor piece...? Is it Bach or Beethoven?...it sounds like a mixture.

@radiokid2 It's the fugue from Beethoven's 15 variations and fugue, also known as the "Eroica Variations."

Beethoven's Eroica variations.

His performance of the Eroica variations is genius.

It's an amazing interpretation... I've never played any Beethoven beyond his sonatas, I'm going to begin learning these variations now.
