A properly tuned iltis will do165kph with a trailer on it. It will take a while to get up to that speed and the trans oil temp light will come on after about 5 minutes. But it will do it.
No tachometer brother. I like to roll around 95 on long trips. Make sure your rear diff and front transaxle are full of clean, new fluid, along with regular maintenance and she'll be fine.
I've heard of beater Iltis going 100+ for hundreds of highway kms no problem.
@squig808 thanks, I am looking to buy one though it means it will be driving highway trips with me, though I am sure I can change so it will be lower speeds to help it, for sure I will be taking care of it, thanks for the help.
Ive had mine up over 130+ with all original tires and the old engine have since upgraded the tires and a new engine so i dont expect she can get up quite that fast anymore. these things are made to go crawling around offroad anyway top speed is irrelevant imo
It's surprisingly tight on the highway/street. Independent suspension all around and a low center of gravity. The biggest concern would be the RPM of the engine at this speed. I would not drive mine long at much more than ~100km/h.
People don't believe it can even go 90+, so here's proof.
My VW Iltis did nearly 130 km/h ...but driving this speed is no fun, the noise inside the car is like sitting in a P 51 on a strafing run...:D

what rpm is it doing at about 100km/h, would it be fine for a long two hour tip all highway at 110?

Did you drop it from a plane?
Post proof, otherwise you're just a keyboard superstar.

@squig808
Ok, in a few days you will have your proof.
Howevern it might depend on the year of construction.
Mine is a 1987. 140km/h is the absolute max.
