  • dinah washington was ruth jones show biz name but that etta singing with bud johnson i had this tune on a 78 record

  • this picture likes like one of Dinah Washington?

  • @fatdaddy19901 I had difficulty getting pictures of the correct Etta Jones. Of course, Jones gets a million hits. I believe the picture is Dinah Washington. Dinah's music makes for a great listen, BTW. Listen to the music and forget the idiot who did the pictures. Not historically reliable, LOL.

  • What is the line Etta sings before "And from there on out, it's up to the man."?

  • "That's the cry in each romance that ever began"

  • This is not Etta Jones the Jazz Singer "Don't go to Strangers" and the picture here is Dinah Washington.

  • I'll agree I goofed on the picture. Jones is a common name and there could well be more famous ones. The anouncer clearly calls her Etta Jones more than once.

  • Etta Jones was recording with Bud Johnson as early as 1944, one of the greatest of all jazz vocalists. I have to admit her voice on this early cut isn't immediately identifiable, but now I'm starting to pick up the quality. It's definitely the one and only Etta Jones (not James).

  • I believe she was the 3rd member of The Dandridge Sisters along with Dorothy & Vivian Dandridge

  • You're absolutely right!

  • Etta Jones of the Dandridge Sister's is not Etta Jones the jazz vocalist. They just happen to have the same name.
