  • @NihaIAtsiz Dinciler derken ? Osmanli Imparatorlugu gercegi var bunu her kes kafasina giremi yaziyor?

  • @azrausa Dinciler dini suistimal edenlerdir. Padisahlar dini suistimal ediyordu.

  • @yayakoky1 hii again sorry for the delay i was away nd just came back:) the episodes are on YAHALA part of the OSN network and its translated as Hareem Alsultan which is very silly i agree with you totaly, they are still in season one. by the way i was wondering if you can help me understand the dialogue between Hurrem and the Walida Sultana in episode 33 when Hurrem dashed in the room without an excuse and also what did the walida order as a punishment to Hurrem????

  • hatice sultan artik iyice itici olmaya basladi, sinir ediyor tavirlariyla

  • @hpulker Dizide Hatiçe Sultan'i kötü gösteriyorlar ki ilerde Hürrem'in yapacaklari kötülükler insanlara hos gelsin. Mesela tarihde Ibharim Pasa asla Hürrem'in eski sevgilisini öldürtmemistir.

Now I feel that is undertaken by another and unfortunately without success. We were looking forward to watch Halit in science with passion, but nothing happen. I DO NOT dislike Isabella,.I LOVE Hurrem but it can not be monitored 4 consecutive episodes without case. I liked this whole game but it could be finished in 1-2 ep. I think that for some reason they put the princess in scenario, but enough! They must finally wake up. The only one who saves the situation is Halit, but for how long?

  • I have a website in fb for Halit ,we are about 2.000 members who love him as an actor, as a person, as a male!!! we are watcing ''Muhtesem Yuzyil'' live and we are very dissatisfied. They made it !They downloaded the audience below 40! BRAVO!! They have the wildcard in treir hands and they go to burn him! This can not be happening.I suspect that this started from Meral's Okay disease,we had become accustomed to very rapid complicated scenario and we stranded at each episode.

  • @yayakoky1 hii again just to let u know that that the arabic version has started on the OSN (YAHALA chanel) episodes so far at 10 oclock mecca time. enjoy :)

  • @yayakoky1 This is the great challenge with understanding history. No matter how hard we try to accept the worldview of those people in the past, we still end up looking at the world through of lense of our modern mentality, morality and educated understanding of religion. In some sense, we need to look at the past like we do science fiction novels....not judging it according to our ideas about what is possible or logical.

  • @yayakoky1 Hopefully, we will move beyond this silly Isabella plot and get to some interesting historical things, like, as you said, Mustafa. I hope there is more than just about Hurrem's intrigues and his execution.

  • @yayakoky1 This is all fascinating and I am learning alot! That you. I think that Suleyman was the "law-giver" for his development of administrative regulations to use across the huge and diverse empire when he kept adding provinces by conquest quickly. Before that, there may have been a variety of confusing traditions used in different places. There was also the question of regularizing of revenue collection for the empire to function.

  • @TheThorne1 Please do not base your historical knowledge of Suleyman or Turkish history on this series. It has highly contentious and outrageously inaccurate information. It should be viewed purely for entertainment purposes.

  • @MsNala77 I do not base my knowledge of Suleyman or history on this or any other work of fiction. The writers say clearly that this is fiction, weaving incidents and people from history with own imaginations. The problem today is that youth everywhere do not read either history or great literature very much, and tend to believe what they see on TV or film as real. That is why it is important to separate what we we see is correct from the writers' imaginations.

  • @MsNala77 My position is that there is so much that is exciting and would make good drama and so many fascinating characters that were part of that story in the real history, that it was unneccesary to create characters like Leo and Isabella and ignore the interesting things about people like Alvise Gritti. Matrakci's famous art work is ignored, he appears only as a "buddy" of Ibrahim. Why are the harem eunuchs portrayed as white, not African? They treat Ibrahim's being Greek as unusual.

  • @TheThorne1 In fact, most of the men in the palace were not Turkis, but were either captives or taken from Christian villages within the Empire to be janissaries or government officials. They were converted, given the best education and could rise to the highest positions in the land. Many talented captives stayed rather than be ransomed by their families and became very powerful. They also used their connections to help with European diplomacy.

  • @MsNala77 My final criticism of the serial's accuracy is that while they put in all the main battles, they ignore Suleyman's political relations with the varying European states. He saw the Hapsburgs, both Austrian and Spanish as enemies, but allied himself with France and many other states, especially Protestants, whom he preferred to Catholics and the Vatican. Up until the 19th century, the Ottomans were part of the every shifting set of European alliances.

  • @MsNala77 To conclude, my criticism is not that I think they should have put History more accurately, but that some of the imaginary events and people could be believed by those watching the program. It is fine to create, for drama's sake the characters of their servants, for instance, or having the men and women interact more closely than they did, or ignoring the high level of protocol, but to totally change the course of events is bad for the general public.

  • @TheThorne1 Agreed. It is disheartening to say the very least that most people watching this series, believes the princess Isabella depicted is none other than the great Isabel the First of Castile, otherwise known as Isabel la Catolica.

Like you, i do not believe the addition of this character is necessary for the development of the series, if anything it has made me look at how ridiculous it is.

  • @TheThorne1 Not only was she dead when Suleyman came to power, but the mere thought that anyone could kidnap her in the first place is sheer naivety, Ottoman or not.

Creating entertainment is one thing, but actually misusing history to this degree is something else.

The whole Isabel issue is only one of many additions to the story that have discredited the series.

  • @TheThorne1 and lastly I am disappointed purely from a historical point of view and watch it purely for the costuming (which again is inaccurate) and for entertainment value.

Sure, there are many movies that made with horrendous historical inaccuracies and this series by far not the worst. For some reason however, i thought Turks creating a series based on their own history would take far greater care with the story-line, than is apparent in what we have been watching.

  • @MsNala77 Ugh!!The costumes!! With all the money they spend, why use the European costumes of the period for the women. Daiya Hatoun's headpiece is distinctly British. There are so many paintings and miniatures and works in museums. Also, from reading about her, it is clear Hurrem was much too intelligent to act silly like in the series. She must have been incredibly mature at a young age to figure out the social system when she arrived and made it work for her.

  • @MsNala77 Why was there a big fuss in the Turkish press about this series? A few years ago, a series "Hurrem Sultan" had the same sexual and harem scenes, etc. There is a new "Ottoman" serial coming, "Burasi Osmanli 1711" From the trailers it seems worse. They show the war with Russia but the enemy wear British uniforms from that time. And why a serial would focus on a war in which the Ottomans made a terrible strategic mistake and a sultan that was thrown out by an uprising?

  • @MsNala77 The Ottomans were winning the battle against the Russians, who began to retreat. Instead of followiing them and destroying their arms and capturing their soldiers, the Grand Vizier who was running the war let them escape and sue for peace. The Russians had to give back territories in the peace treaty, but they still had their army intact and continued to harass and take from the Ottomans right up to their revolution during WWI. This period was good for tulips, but not for the Empire!

  • @TheThorne1 I have no idea why there was such a furore in the press. Some political issue no doubt. I find the religious factions in Turkey and abroad tiresome. The whole Religion Vs Ataturk debate was stale 50 years ago, now days, it just seems a joke to even discuss it.

The costuming is a mix of Ottoman and European. Daiye Hatun's headpiece i thought resembled the Russian Kokoshnik more so than any English headpiece, but you could be right,

  • @TheThorne1 the Turks keep going on about the "secret history" of the Ottoman empire, well as a historian i find the whole idea ludicrous. Also, i have yet to hear a comprehensive account of what this secret history contains. If it contains tales of corruption, wanton sexuality, excesses of the body and mind, drugs, alcohol etc, well that is hardly news and the Ottomans are hardly the only ones to engage in such activities.

  • @TheThorne1 they credit Hurrem with toppling the empire. Bit much don't you think??? On the one hand Suleyman is this larger than life, god like figure in Turkish history; he is intelligent beyond reckoning, he is just, he is this, he is that- and yet he falls prey to the wiles of a woman?? makes zero sense. i could go on and on but i will stop :-)

  • @MsNala77 History, mythology and literature all confirm that even great men have at least one fatal weakness and it is often a woman and can cause the man to do something very stupid. Hurrem was one of many who influenced the fate of the Ottomans and Suleiman one of the decision-makers who caused the longevity as well as the eventual collapse. His choices produced very important "what if's" regarding that history. What if the brilliant Mustafa, not the drunken Selim, became the next Sultan?

  • @TheThorne1 I understand where you are coming from, i still maintain however that Hurrem is not and never was the sole reason the empire crumbled. Suleyman did have a soft spot for her granted, she was his wife! but a succession of rulers after Suleyman did as much, if not more damage to the empire then Hurrem. What we see here is a classical case of blaming the woman, using her as a scape goat to explain or comprehend the actions of male monarchs.

  • @TheThorne1 We cannot blame Hurrem for the execution of Mustafa. Suleyman ordered it, not Hurrem. She dabbled in politics, intrigue and on some occasions poisoned people, but she was not the first or the last to do so. His choices as you put it, were just that HIS choices based on whatever advice he may have received from Hurrem and many other individuals close to him at the time. As for Ibrahim, one of the main reasons his execution was ordered was because he proclaimed himself Sultan

  • @MsNala77 No one could blame just Hurrem for Mustafa's killing and yes, his father chose to do it. Rustum Pasha, then grand vizier and his wife, Hurrem's daughter Mihrimah contributed. I'm sure Mustafa made lots of his own enemies. Ibrahim did not take the title of "Sultan" during the Persian campaign, but added the word Sultan following a title already give to him by Suleyman "Serasker." but he clearly didn't understand how impudent or presumptuous that sounded and it aided his enemies.

  • @TheThorne1 yet, Hurrem is blamed for his demise also. Interestingly all the intrigues done against Hurrem by Ibrahim and various others are not mentioned. I just think that if we are to properly analyse historical events, we must do so objectively with whatever sources that are at our disposal. Blaming the wife of male monarchs for the demise of empires is something history is steeped in. One need only look at Marie Antoinette and Alexandra Feodorovna to realise this and discredit the idea

  • prenses isabellanin surati yapili kardesim...dudaklar sisme...burun küçültme...gözleri birkere hortlak...hürremden güzel degil bu kadin...

  • Isabella dunya guzel hurrem gebersinnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Milliyet Australia, yaz ve seyret.

  • @yayakoky1 thank you so much for the translation, i realy wish suleman would fall in love with isabella so that hurem would burn in her jealosy :) i was reading your conversation on history which i found very useful also and im surprised to know that mahidevran was not his wife but also a jaria ?? and that hurem was his legal wife? can u clarify please? thank you

  • people need to understand that this tv show is not in line with history just as the credits state these are products of a writers imagination, there are portions that are true yet Suleyman the magnificent wasn't a womaniser now was he power hungry all those parts are to make this show get more ratings. it is fiction

  • @iimeltMM Very true! It is a good dramatic device.

  • geber hurrem

  • Haydiiiii!! Neydi simdi bu opucuk? Nasil bir son bu?

  • @yayakoky1 The reason I go to Arabic versions or subtitles is that I know very little Turkish and I do read and speak Arabic.

  • @yayakoky1 It seems that slavery was meant as a temporary after the beginning of Islam but lasted longer and the qadhis and religious experts across the centuries made comments about it and cases in the courts are plentiful in these countries, especially regarding the rights of slaves. Just one example: In old Egyptian records, you read that a jaaria went to court to demand her right to live with her child though the wife of the man did not want her there and the Qadhi protected her right.

  • It might come to MBC but hard for the same reasons that made many Turkish were angry and wanted to stop it. How can the great Muslim leader behave in such a way, breaking religious traditions even if it is true? Re history, many people confuse "what people did" with "what they should have done" and say that this and that did not happen because it was not supposed to happen. There would so many more scenes to cut.

  • Taking Mustafa's property was the custom when an official, even in the family, is executed. Suleyman took the property of Ibrahim, even though the wife was his own sister! We can't judge this by modern values. BUT.......it WAS Suleyman's responsibility to take care of the mother of his child for the rest of her life, no matter what happens to the child. He was just cruel to her.

  • @yayakoky1 See my comments on the top of the page re slavery/women . Circassians=Cherkess [there are Cherkess in Jordan and Syria] and Georgian means the people from that country that is near Turkey, Russia and Armenia. They had a fight with Russia a few years ago.

I don't remember which episode he married her in.

  • Concubines "jawaari" did start in Islam that way but evolved over time until into the 20th century with religious approval. It was part of a larger system of slavery in many Muslim areas that included blacks and whites. The laws that protected slaves, including jawaari, were firm, not like the way that slaves could be treated in the Christian world or elsewhere. In America, a slave woman forced to have a child by her owner and the child became a slave like her!

  • Orusbu Hatice :D

  • @yayakoky1 Afghanistan has one or more private TVs, one is Tolo that shows this serial. They even now make their own TV shows and dramas in Afghanistan. These serials were, in Arabic version and on MBC and maybe other channels also. First is "AlAjniha alMunqasira" [Broken Wings] about the fight against the Greek invasion and the second is "al Hub wal Harb" [The Black Serpent] about the French seige of Ayntab.

  • @yayakoky1 Even if Mahidevran was from such a family she could still be taken or given for the harem. It was not a dishonor, it was connection to the Sultan's household and the children might be very powerful. This system continued into the 20th century, when poor Circassian and Georgian Muslim families gave their daughters to the palace in hopes of a better life. Even in the 20th c, most women were not "wives." Hurrem's marriage already happened in the serial after Mehmet was born.

  • isabella in my opinion has made the events more intreging, its interesting to sea new events and new herem coming in ,we got tierd from the eveil hurem and the poor mahidevra, lets see hurem burn in her jealousy for a change:)

  • @yayakoky1 Exactly "Ma Malakat Aymanekom" is the basis. The Ottomans adopted the system for the same reason that the Abbasids did after a couple of generations as having a wife in the family who represents the interests of another perhaps powerful family compromises the total power of the ruler and loyalty of the sons. In the beginning, each started with wives as a way to seal good relations with other tribes or regional powers but after they were supreme, this lost its value and was trouble.

  • nerhaba every one.... can sombody translate what mahidevran told hurem when she caome to her room?

  • @yayakoky1 Before slavery was ended, a concubine was the legal property of the master. He could do what he wanted with her. The status of a son by a slave woman was determined by recognition by the father, not marriage. This was accepted in Islam. It is different from having a lover now which is adultery. Mahidevran was not a legal wife but the mother of a Sultan's son had special status. That is why Mahidevran was insulted when Suleyman did the rare thing and "legally" married Hurrem.

  • @yayakoky1 I think his name is Mehmet Gursel.

  • @yayakoky1 I am watching Fatmagul'un Sucu Ne on site with Arabic subtitles. I also watch on Arab TV: Sila, Ask ve Ceza, and Ezel. My favorites have been historical: Kirik Kanatlar and Kara Yilan. I learned a lot about the Turkish War of Independence from them. Ask-i Memnu is going around the world. Imagine, it is even playing on TV in Afghanistan!

  • @yayakoky1 History and contemporary life all point to important men who were influenced in their political, work and financial affairs by powerful women in their lives: wives, lovers or mothers. It is for that reason that the literatures around the world are full of such stories. Also, remember that the decisions Suleyman made were not only supported by Hurrem, but by men at the palace like Rustem and those who were jealous of Ibrahim's power.

  • Why is there so many advertising in this episode... ?

  • @xcuneytx I guess adverts are placed randomly by youtube.. I have no advert at the moment..

  • its our wrethed that we are disgracing our great and gracefull ancesters.. i condemned this movie

  • @mmsaleemshah Are you saying that the life of the Sultan and the social system of the palace were not like this or that it should not be shown on TV? Yes, there is fiction, Isabella, Leo, etc., but the basics are true. Suleyman's poem says that the lips of his beloved were more delicious than wine. The harem women were slaves and he could do what he wanted with any of them. We cannot change the facts to support morality or Suleyman "should have" acted as a good Muslim.

  • @yayakoky1 They are good at comedy but it distorts history and biology. Being a eunuch [a man who is castrated] which they did to boys or men to work in the harem or closeby does not make them effeminate. They do not act like women or homosexual. Also, harem eunuchs were black and a more drastic surgery. If they castrate a young boy his physical growth stops or slows. His voice stays high and sometimes he gets fat. The church did it to have girl voices in choirs.

  • izlein cok unemliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • still vengeful Mahidevran... wrrr

  • Isabella is in love with Suleyman, experiencing typical stockholm syndrome. She is also extremely attracted by his row, 'barbarian' sexuality. She will be seduced, romanced and left in self-torturing hurt brake, regret, and shame. She threw herself into his arms and later she would have to deal with her catholic conscience and the consequences of her 'sinful' act. She can't help feeling love and passion for Suleyman. It is obvious she will get the necklace he is making after halet.

  • Something tells me that Isabella will have halvet with Suleyman. He is toying with her, playing seductive game, romancing her into relationship based on mostly political interests. He sees her as a political pawn but she is also a beautiful woman who intrigues him and phisically attracts him (have you noticed how similar personality Izzy and Hurrem have -j rebellious, courageous personality that attracts Suleyman, bored by submissive, obeying women, trained to please him).

  • Süleyman beyefendi :-)

  • @yayakoky1 ok excuse me... yes i 'm angry ...i'm annoyed because big part of the film construct on the lies ...

  • @MrAlonesoldier It is clearly stated at the beginning of each episode (bolum) that it was inspired by history, not made by following strict historical facts. There are no lies, there is only artistic liberty and imagination of the scriptwriter - Ms Meral Okay. Maybe you can try to grasp the difference between historical documentary and period drama based on certain historical facts and characters.

  • @yayakoky1 i said that :CAN YOU SHUT UP ???

  • @yayakoky1 A different mentality back then. Suleyman thought he was doing all this, even killing his sons, for the good of the Empire. He was being blind to the schemes of Hurrem. None of these other killings would have happened if he had not killed Ibrahim. Hurrem was smart and lived by "survival of the fitest." If she had not seduced Suleyman, she might have spent her life scrubbing floors in the harem. If Mustafa had lived and taken over from his father, her sons would likely be killed.

  • @yayakoky1 Suleyman was VERY mean to Mahidevran even after he killed her son. He took all Mustafa's property and left Mahidevran with no support. Kind people who loved her son took care of her until Suleyman died. Then actually, Sultan Selim II was nice to her so she lived in comfort til she died.

  • @yayakoky1 kardesim siz 2 niz filmi bok ettiniz :)) bi susun :)))

  • @yayakoky1 I didn't know the story of Cihangir, but what you say sounds so sad. I also believe he was physically deformed or weak and ill. I remember reading somewhere that he joked that no one will kill him fighting over becoming the Sultan.

  • @yayakoky1 I don't know about Shahzade [Prince] Mahmud. If he was born in 1511, Suleyman would have been 17. Not impossible since they gave concubines when the boys started wanting them but he would have still been alive when Suleyman became Sultan but we only hear about Mustafa from Mahidevran in history. Suleyman was about 21 when Mustafa was born in 1515.

Hurrem's first son was Mehmet. He would have been born around 1521, a year after his mother arrived. He died in 1543 of illness.

  • avazin kesilsin hurrem :D

  • @yayakoky1 This is, I believe, what means in English the Janisarriy Corps, the slave army. They, like the officials at the palace were taken from Christian villages as children and educated especially. They become very powerful and were finally killed or removed in the 1830s and replaced by a modern European-type army. Hurrem died in 1558, Suleyman in 1566. 1559: Beyazid and Selim had provinces but were fighting. Suleyman trusted Selim. Cihangir died before this fight, I don't know how.

  • @yayakoky1 It is one thing to invent characters like Isabella and Victoria and silly stories of personal lives, but it is wrong to change actual history because people especially school children might believe the mistakes. The Yeniceriler did not begin to make real revolts until later in history. Under Selim II they started making big noise about wanting more money. He was afraid and gave it to them, so they started to extort money and other things and later sultans were also scared.

  • @yayakoky1 The story is worse. After Hurrem died, he decided taht his son Beyazid from Hurrem was plotting against him and had him and his sons all killed. Again, Beyazid was a good governor and warrior. Cihangir was already dead, so that left Selim to follow his father. And yes, many brilliant men can be manipulated by intelligent women who build up their egos.

  • @yayakoky1 In some periods only one son, in other times more because the problem with one son was that it meant he might die young and a sultan's brother followed or a nephew. Kosem sultan...maypeker was the concubine then wife of sultan ahmet...he died young and she ruled for her sons and then tried to do so again for her grandson but was killed instead. she also arranged killing of her own son. Hurrem plotted against Mustafa with Rustem Pasa the grand vazier and daughter Mihrimah's husband.
