@elvinteh123 all players want to play it at the top of the net because it is super fast and will force your opponent to play a low shot, a shuttle dropped very low towards the ground is hard to play, the closer to the ground, the more you are forced to play a backcourt, which allows your opponent to perform a powerful jumpsmash.
if you understand attack-defense in badminton you will know why pro plays net shots as high as possible.
because its your forehand side and with left to right your moving the racquet away from the net as opposed to towards it which could inadvertenly make the shuttle go further than tighter.
Many times the bird will be traveling towards the right when someone drops there. Because it is traveling right, the ball of the shuttlecock will be pointed right and if you slice left to right, you will be able to create more spin on the shuttlecock.
I think it depends. It still depends on whether or not you can variate your shots. Peter gae is just teaching the basic fundamental right side net drop so it should look like that. You can also do it the other way
@t3tsubo because the shuttle wont land straight, the opponent needs to wait for it to 'settle' (wait for it to get lower, hence cant smash it back) and it buys you time to position yourself for it. also because if you racquet is at an angle you can draw your opponent closer to the net as a feint and lob it back at will without giving you intentions away ;)
@t3tsubo actually you can slice both ways depending on from where the shuttle comes...you have to slice in the opposite direction for an accurate spinning net shot, but that isn't easy everytime. even professional players mostly slice one direction ;D
@t3tsubo Also because in your forehand corner (right-handed player) when you slice left to right (or in to out) the shuttle tends to travel outwards, towards the side line, thus getting it even farther away from your rival, whereas right to left (out to in) sends the shuttle slightly towards the center, therefore bringint it closer to your rival.

can someone tell me why its better to slice left to right instead of right to left for a tight net?
