No one except for the government has full access to the refugee camps. What access that aid organizations had has been limited even more by the government. Hardly any independent organizations or peoples are allowed into the camps to help. She did however support the mercy mission ship that was full of supplies to help the displaced peoples. However the government up until almost 2 weeks ago wouldn't accept the supplies. They're making it very difficult for ANYONE to help these people.

Do you have any reading comprehension skills at all? I clearly said in my post a month ago that the supplies hadn't been distributed until two weeks ago... so that would be over six weeks ago now. It was shipped in March I believe so the question is why would it take SO LONG to screen them? Indian high comminsioner even said the govt tents are actually better built than UN once. So u can't say they are doing a bad job. So overall Govt have done well.

Do you really believe that Amnesty International is a 'dodgy organization'? They have won a Nobel Peace Prize and an United Nations prize in the field of Human Rights. They also pretty much set the standard for the kind of work they do. All other NGO's aren't 'very happy' either. Many organizations, governments and the UN have voiced their concern that the SL government may have committed human rights abuses. The war has been over for 3+ months. These people shouldn't still be in tents.

As an aware human being, I understand the very serious consequences and effects of a war. As do the NGO's and human rights watch organization that are trying to help the people of Sri Lanka. As the government that claims to represent these people it is the SL government's duty to protect and help these people get back on their feet. They should be helping to move past camps and getting these refugees into more permanent, safe and healthy housing.

As much as I would love to believe all NGO's are good, its not the case entirely. Throughout the war we saw how LTTE smuggled money, weapons and technology through bogus NGO's and with the help of some of the reputed NGO's thanks to the 2002 ceasefire. We saw the consequences on how LTTE increased its capability. There are still unresolved things about LTTE which Govt needs to find and still they are capable of doing harm. So there is enough reasons to be paranoid.

On the Govt part i personally beleive they have done a very good job considering the massive task they had, but still they can improve a lot and i hope they are not playing politics here in delaying the development some what.

Why do you keep trying to compare the LTTE and the SL government? By definition as a terrorist organization they broke laws. What else do you expect from them? Just because the LTTE did bad things, it doesn't mean the SL government can do them too. Under international law, as an armed conflict where these evidently apply, that's what this is. That makes this in need of UN Security council involvement. It is not legally possible for it to also be "terrorist-counter-terrorist." Mexico and other states should be supported in getting this issue across to thick skulls like the Russians

The army wants to end this war before more civilians are hurt but once again the tigers are using the civilians as human shields to hide behind.
