Obviously very hard to impersonate such a great Legend,But look at it this way,the more singers keep performing in dedication to Judy the more awareness is there for new generations, got to keep the memory alive.Give these performers a chance & stop being so vitriolic
I think this singer got confused with songs from Chicago... the style of this song should be 'innocent' and 'vulnerable' not sung like some powerful Diva from Chicago
Good critique. There were a couple of points during the bridge of the song (someday I'll wish upon a star, etc.) where she pulled back and I thought she was going to be more subtle, but then she pulled out all the stops again and overpowered the song. I *liked* her singing, though, and would love to hear her sing as herself.
you wanna see a great impersonation??? that gives you chills from the lyric, not the look, check out JIM BAILEY. He's been at it for years, just incredible... everyone else pales
Sorry. I was wrong. It looked like her last performance. Okay now this is another woman imitating Judy Garland. This really looked like the video I saw some time ago of Judy Garland's last performance. She died a year after that performance. This is Debbie Saloman [have no idea who she is]...Judy is much BETTER!!!
(...cont'd) It would be nigh impossible, IMO, to match the pure simple passion and emotion and intensity that Garland put into this song every time she sang it - so my advice, for what it's worth (I claim no authority or expertise in the entertainment business - just take it as the gut feeling of a mature, well-travelled, educated adult), to any otherwise professional singer is to avoid songs as powerful as this except when performing just for fun amongst family and close friends...
Sorry... I think you have a very good voice, but your song choice was unfortunate, IMO. It looks and sounds as if you are competing in the final round of a cabaret-singing-talent contest. That would be fine taken of its own accord, but anyone who has seen any of Garland's renditions of this song is going to feel that this interpretation of it is somewhat of a travesty - as someone previously said, too melodramatic, overdone... (cont'd...)
you obviously dont know who judy garland is because she does not act like that she just does her own thing and does a great job wich is a complete 180 of your performance
During Judy's run on The Judy Garland Show, one of the producers once told her to sing like a wrestler with a mouse in his hand - he's got the power to crush it but is careful not to hurt the mouse. You have the power but have to be careful not to kill the song. There are tender moments in this song that were pushed way over the top. The whole thing was melodramatic. Was good - but could have been great... Also it's ironic that you look like Liza, but sound like her mother ( to a certain extent)
You hear so many "safe" versions of this standard that it's easy to forget how idiosyncratic Judy G's vocal stylings were. This is not a "safe" rendition which makes it all the more interesting....
that sudden loudness almost gave me a heart attack lol

you have a good voice, try songs that are a bit lower, and a little less intensity. This is a quite song. But nice try...

would have been better with just the piano, the drummer was very distracting and did not seem to fit.
