  • This song is so right, the Strokes are so right, and well Nick Valensi is a fucking god.

  • Can't stop listening it. One of the best song of the new album.

  • nobody understand this song... i think that's funny... just experimental, maybe a live version would give you a different opinion about it

  • I FUCKING LOVE THAT SOLO

  • I'm beginning to think only people with open minds like this song. I personally think it's great, solo at the end needs to be longer though.

  • As John Lennon once said, "..if you want to reminisce you can always play the old(er) albums...". Already do that. We needed new and we got it. Great.

  • Open minds.

  • every song is the album is fucking amazing but this one is just cool

  • beginning is strangely familiar to these new puritans

  • I wasn't a fan of Angles at first, and REALLY didn't like this song in particular. But I gave it a few more listens and I think Angles is excellent, and this is now my 3rd favourite Strokes song! (Behind 'You Only Live Once' and 'Under Cover Of Darkness')

  • WORST SONG OF THE ALBUM IS MY IMPRESSION

  • very radiohead

  • Sounds like they're trying to sound like Radiohead hahaha

  • To me, it seems Angles is incorporating bits of Is this it and Rooms on Fire (Ex. Undercover of Darkness) and bits of FIoE and Phrazes for the young (ex. You're so right) And I'm sure other songs will accompany similar sounds from other strokes members solo work. The album truly does come from many different angles and it incorporates many sounds. I don't think the public and media really expected that, which is why they may lime it less. I'm sure they all expected an Is This It ripoff (best al

  • The guitar solo on this song is the Strokes at their best but....Yeah, it's nice that they want to be experimental, but I can't say I like it (so far....) Will give a few more listens.

  • The people who don't like this song are stupid, and probably don't have a clue about music, obviously sounds are going to change otherwise it would get boring and repetitive, this is a great song and I think they're a great band,

    Rant over.

  • i found this song amazing, is this actually them ??? or is it another band

  • radiohead

  • Ok yeah...I first listened to this and thought it was decent, but I took some of the commenters advice and replayed it. I got SO much better

  • sounds... deliberate.

  • THIS IS VERY COOL AND ORIGINAL!!!

  • Well, I like it haha

  • This sounds so fucken robotic!<3 haha! They're still amazing.(:

  • People that are bitching, stfu!!!! If your a true musicholic you accept the fact that good bands evolve. Do you really want the strokes to be like ac/dc and record the same albums over and over and over again. If they tryed making this album like this is it, it wouldnt sound good anyway you can only do so much with the same sound. As a band you either have a choice to evolve, like the beatles, or try reliving past fame and become a parody of yourself like ac/dc. Lol.

  • You lot can't have listened to much music if you think this is "weird" or "trippy". Bands have to progress, deal with it, its a good song.

  • 1:03 = godlike

  • Julians voice is so incredibly amazing.

Why it is autotuned in this song i will never understand.

  • WOAH! i hope this song is the only one like it on the album, this is a bit too trippy, i am all for trying new things but this is a little to...for lack of a better word... weird! Give me a sweet guitar riff and Julian signature dry drone and i am happy. I personally like Ludlow Street from his solo album, and i wouldn't mind a good keyboard emphasis like 11th Dimension but, not good at all ...IN MY OPINION, i am not trying to imposr on anyone else this i just what i think.

  • @cquave11 Let me correct myself, * julian's dry drone WITHOUT the auto-tune effect,* and after listening to it again the guitar is not that bad. I think i am just going to stick with labeling this song weird :/ because i honestly dont like it but i cant describe why.

  • I agreed with everything dveenhof said except the knock on river of brakelights, that song is elite and literally has the greatest chorus I have ever heard

  • Esto es una increible mamada, la neta soy fan pero con esto si se pasan, ya no son como antes. Es mejor que se separen y hagan cada quien sus proyectos como lo han venido haciendo.

  • I say we all put our hands over our ears and pretend this never happenend.

I want ANOTHER album instead! and I don't want to wait another 4 years to hear it!

Also I think creative control should shift towards Albert Hammond Jr.

Based on what they've all done with their solo work, it seems like he's the only one who can still bring in a familiar but FRESH strokes sound

  • the instrumetal part is genius... but julian voices dont suck but its diferent not the voice that we want to here in the stroke in his solo album its perfect but here i think he is fuckin all the talent of the band and lose the soul

  • This song sucks

  • MEHHHHHHHH what happend to the upbeat, happy, melodies? the ones that made them so much fun to listen to u! i dont listen to the strokes for a depressing guitar riff, i listen to them for the Amazing harmony between the great main guitar and Julian's voice, like in Razorblade, You only live once, Hard to explain, and countless others from all three of hteir albums

  • if you do not like this song, first try to do a better one and then criticize, it is a good job from nikolai

  • Seems like it would fit in better in the album. Still good, though.

  • it sounds like phrazes for the young

  • The Strokes have literally suffered a MASSIVE STROKE. This song SUCKS. Who are the 2011 Strokes????? What a waste.

  • I have a feeling that this song was not written by julian. You can tell the difference. Julian has though deep lyrics and a deep sound that you can bob your head to. But this, this sounds like something they actually made up as a group or even without Julian. Its like, come on. autotune??! The Strokes are way better then this. They can do better.. but hey..

  • @xkittenmassacrex Niko wrote it lol

  • It's an acquired taste. At first I didn't like it, but now it's infectious.

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm..........mmmmm

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......mmmmm

  • I love this song. It's very different for them, but it's still good.

  • this is the only song i hate from the strokes

  • This and Under Cover of Darkness are opposites.

  • too much production

  • this song is so fucking weird. it's very interesting though and you have to hand it to the strokes for experimenting. after everyone heard "under cover of darkness", which i thought was fucking brilliant, people were complaining about how the strokes didn't change anything. well...as if it was valid before, it's totally blown up now lol.

not sure how i feel about this song. musically like i said...it's just really INTERESTING. but it'll take a few more listens for me lol

  • Your all fools, Take Julians advice-Take it Or Leave it.

And at least Obama predicted something right-Change. And i like it :)

  • Look, I'm sorry I love the Strokes more than anything... and loathe music snobs, but I HATE this. Since WHEN do the Strokes incorporate so much techno and synthesizers? Chill out and let me listen to Julian's voice, some great guitar riffs, drums, and I'm happy. Both this and "under cover of darkness" are too busy.

  • @helloaloah my thoughts exactly :(

  • I like it, really, I was anticipating a heavy build up and then slamming drums and him screaming "DON"T WANNA ARGUE, WHY WOULD I HURT YOU?!" Kind of like how Juice Box ended. Still a good jam.

  • i listened to thier album today and i was disappointed :(

  • @jechii79 HOW?!?!?!?!

  • @jechii79 where did you listen to it????

  • Absolutely fucking love it

    XD

    <3<3<3

  • Awesome! nobody sounds like the Strokes! . Don't listen this song too many times or you'll be addicted! :) love it

  • this song sounds a bit like the Danger Mouse song Julian did.

  • obviously, some people are going to be put off by this sound but every band has to experiment to stay relevant. you can't make the same albums over and over. i really like the sound here.

  • I mean, it's not like OMG!!!! But, I like it, and that's good enough. I just wished Julian would had sang sexier.

  • guys, they move on and make different music and you complain. if they made albums that sounded exactly the same, people would complain they were too samey. they don't have to keep the same sort of sound to still be considered great musicians, which they all are. bands develop and grow, keep it fresh etc. i'm not going to say 'ohh true fans would get it', you can be true fans too. just listen to their music you do like, you're not expected to love it all. :)

  • This song is excellent. A band doesn't need to keep their "sound" to make good music. The previous albums were mostly written by Julian but this album was written by all the member making a new more unified sound for the new album. I really dig the new sounds so far and so do others.

  • WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE!?!!?

  • WHAT IS THIS?!!

  • ):

  • stop saying do you want all their albums to sound the same? be real this sucks and im a huge strokes fan. What happened to the days when bands didn't wait 5 years to release an album

  • I Fucking love it!!

  • at first I didnt like it. but the people who say its gettin better with every time you here it are right. I m still optimistic that angles will be great!

  • @dveenhof

    I completely, 100%, agree.

  • Sounds a little bit like Hail to the Thief-era Radiohead.

  • This is more reminiscent of Phrazes for the Young, and very much different from The Strokes, but its not that bad of a song. Its quite catchy after the fourth play, but i will say the bassline is a little cheesy.

  • No, not necessarily, but there's something about Julian's deep raspy voice and screams that makes their songs soo good... and that's missing here. They're jam out ROCKERS, Just saying.

  • Yikes. Where to begin. I will start off by saying I am a die hard strokes fan and they didn't have a song I disliked until now. This song uses autotuned vocals to the effect of shitty top 40 music. For anyone that listened to Julian's solo album, this song is very reminiscent of River of Brakelights, and worse in my opinion. The vocals at the end are kinda cool but overall I think this is far too experimental for the strokes. I do like all the other songs from what i heard of the samples.

  • @dveenhof far too experimental? well that's hardly a negative. I really like this track, if 'experimental' means we get to hear something fresh, then I like the word. Reminds me of a 'These New Puritans' track.

  • @dveenhof Oh shut the f up. I love how anytime a band branches out from their "usual sound" , fans scream bloody murder. This song is great, and Julian's solo album was fucking amazing. The strokes have maintained their catchy sound, but have incorporated darker themes and melodies. Guess what? The great bands advance and become more complex, and sometimes their "new sound" doesn't mesh with the established fan base. Fine examples, Radiohead ->pablo honey->Kid A. // Beatles ->Revolver -> Sgt P

  • @DoctorJay2012 I never dissed Jules solo album. I personally loved it and went to 2 concerts for the PFTY tour and got to meet Julian at one of them! Very exciting. I'm just not a fan of the autotune vocals it reminds me of the music that I hate so much on the top 40. If you liked river of brakelights you have to admit that this is very similar or even bordering on being a ripoff of it.

  • @dveenhof the use of autotunes in this music wasn't in the same way of the top 40 musics. this is more eletronic than rock, and i don't think it's bad. the music is really great, it's just another style.

  • i like it

do you want all the songs of strokes to be the same?

in that case, just listen the last albuns in loop

  • Omg, this is NOT good. I love the Strokes- they have such potential- this is a little too blah for them. This song deserves a dislike, but I love them too much to do that :/

  • Another shit song, strokes please do a good songs like heart in a cage, last nite, juicebox, reptilia, vision of division, etc

  • don't worry guys its only a B-Side song hence why its on the B-Side.

  • @ruffzspree It's on the album too, man.

  • @joeydivision92 You must not know what a B side is...

  • @alexjestermusic Fully aware, my chum, but I refer you to the tracklisting. It's both a b-side to the single, and an album track in its own right.

  • @joeydivision92 yikes i just saw that, i thought it wasnt. I looked at the track listing the other day i didnt see it. Oh well I listened to the samples of all the songs. It sounds different. They lost their rawness and went for an electronicy sound but some songs did sound good.

  • @ruffzspree No worries, I just got a bit confused myself there! Thought I imagined it all. I loved the samples, and am really looking forward to it - but this song itself seems a bit of a let down...

  • @joeydivision92 yeah i agree this song is not good but the other samples i heard sound pretty good!

  • sadley, not liking the song. its too much, doesnt even sound like them

  • i lurv the strokes, but this... just doesn't really sound that great
