sure Julie looked very pretty (i'm her huge fan) but i think Carol looked adorable too, and she still do! I love that they are best friends and they can work so perfect together!
My sister, Sheila J, has to be Julie's #1 fan. When she was in high school she saved her money and took my mom to NY from Florida to see Julie and Carol at Lincoln Center. After school we moved to LA and Sheila J attended EVERY single taping of Julie's television show. She was fortunate to meet Julie and Carol several times. Awesome talents!
Actually, she was referring to the Palace Theater on Times Square in New York. The acts she mentioned, the Dolly Sisters and Nora Bayes, were legendary stars of vaudeville and Broadway in the early 20th century and had major success in appearances at the Palace.
wow. i hadn't seen this since it was first broadcast. Julie is unbelievably "on"- Burnett certainly out the best in her. It almost seems impossible that something so well done was done live w/out a long time to break it in on stage. What else was part of this show? -- some ballet thing (where Julie looked fabulous, and Carol was an aging ballerina on her 1569th farewell tour); Julie had another knockout solo song (what was that...), and I can't recall what else.
They did one skit where carol was playing the cello and Julie the violin. I think the ballet part was called "Madam Abernell and the Passion of the Gods". Julie's solo song was "He's gone away". then the 60's medley. then this was their closing number.
Carol says buckinghhham and julies like like bucking'm julie saysn it the real english way lol xx
