Love the looks of the Venza, wish Toyota would update some things like the 2012 Camry, fit and finish doesn't live up to Japanese reputation, even though it's made in the US.
Toyota's built quality is being surpassed by competitors ... It would be better if Toyota made a Camry hatch or sport wagon instead of this wide and bulky vehicle ... but I'm surprised that I see this Venza more on the road than the Highlander, perhaps this is cheaper with similar utilities ....
At 1:40, the top armrest slides further back so that you can slide the lower lid back and get into the compartment without removing your drink. This guy is a pessimist pointing out all of the negatives. "No third row.." The car is not even for that market, how is that a negative? Wouldnt quite call him an "engineer".
There is always a "but" or "however" with CR and non-American cars. Toyota did this which is great BUT something is wrong. When you talk about American cars: This is the best ever. It's better than the Asian brand one. Even though it's the same thing. CR is soooo biased.
He needs to be shot.. always hating on a car.. can u make a car? Damn!! Keep in mind this is just a Toyota, not a Lexus.. Toyota wouldn't put their best things in their cars and the Lexus as well... serves no purpose!
I own a Venza. Took my daughters and Grandson on my first long trip in this vehicle. Oh to Fl and back.
I avg 28 mpg. The ride was great. My daughters were very comfortable and Grandson slept like well......a baby. All the way down and all the way back. I was pleased at the console because I never had to reach for anything. I drive for a living and I know how important it is to keep eyes on the road. Only dislike was the fact when I engaged the cruise control the transmission shifted lots
I was considering purchasing the Venza, but opted for the Dodge Journey, because of a better price and much more cargo capacity. The venza is very nice, but as a family hauler, it was just a tad to constricting. I also found, that the Toyota dealers act as though all their cars are solid gold or something, and were not very flexible during price negotiating, in contrast to Dodge, who gave me a very fair price, for a loaded Journey, that was $5,500 below the cost of a comparable Venza.
Edmunds.com contradicts almost every low point he mentions in their review of the Venza. They were pretty enthusiastic about it and usually Edmund's and CR are pretty similar in their assessment of a car.
Toyota's reputation and quality is sliding in the past couple years. This venza is just ugly on the outside. I agree with the wide centre console makes the interior feel cramped, it's not just with the Venza.
Venza is great... not too big with great MPG but more spacious than Camry, more sporty looking too. We love it!
I think this reviewer was very biased. For instance the cup holder: if you want to slide it to access under then you can put the cup on the first holder, or slide the second part - no need to take the cup back before sliding.
The acceleration is great even for i4 Venza which gives more power than needed except if you want to tow >2500lbs.
The Venza's competition is the Subaru Outback and Honda Accord Crosstour; Toyota's flaw with the Venza, it's muddled with its line of Crossovers like the Highlander. But the Venza is something to consider.
Its amazing how all the Venza lovers on here are mad that he doesn't like it. Well get over, all new toyota products suck. Interior fit and finish is crap, still boring to drive, over 10 million recalls, fallen resale values, and just bland. I used to be a fan of toyota but not anymore, I will stick with cars that are fun: Honda/Acura, Infiniti, BMW, Mazda.
lot of people here get offended because they have one, and they think its the best car ever, but let me tell ya, i drove this car too, and i was also interested in buying one too, but the inside, looks nice but not great, and the ipod holder, you have to plug a bigger ipod like the classic or touch to get the advantage of the controls, other than that not at all.
driving this car is also not great, specially with the 4 cylinder.
like i said i like this car but, i just dont love it.
I drive Venza everyday, and honestly this guy is being way too kind. I could do a demonstration with the Venza that would absolutely SHOCK you. Not only is it the worst Toyota ever built, its probably the worst built car on the American market.
Might have been the worst review of all time!! It might have been solid had the Volume on my computer been Muted. Definately a cell phone holder for starters which once integrated with bluetooth is a hands free operation (im suprised he didnt put an ipod shuffle in there and complain that it didnt fit). Please dont let this guy do another review! The fact that its not an SUV explains the lack of 3rd row seats, the fact that its not a car/wagon explains the nice room !!! i test drove and loved it
I used to think Consumer Reports was the GOspel but their reveiw of the 4Runner and Venza are way off, they are condraticory and actually even make false statements. I really like the Venza but I certainly wouldn't give it points for lack of noise as CR did, and on with regards to handling the ride is great, it's not rough considering the size of rim and tire. Consumer Reports seem not to be able to deal with the reality of what they are reveiwing... Venza versus Cross Tour? Venza not CrossTour.
fuck if you're parking with a backup camera whats the point of looking backwards, and he said the window was too small to see out anyway. what a stupid retard.
I test drove the 4 cylinder version of this car, the interior is very roomy but it is extremely obvious that the 4 banger has no place in such a heavy car.
The takeoff in a 2.7L I4 Venza is slower than a 2004 4 cyl Camry with the automatic.
I have one and absolutely love it. I have the fully loaded V6 version and enjoy it more than any other car I've had. Before buying this car I test drove all kinds of cars from the Lexus RX350, Buick Lacross, Nissan Maxima....etc. The biggest difference for me between the Venza and the rest was the positioning of all controls. Very easy to get to...naturally placed.
How does the power behind the RX and the Venza compare? I stifle laughter when my neighbor has to floor her RX to even go up our hill. My parent's GL450 goes right up. How does the Venza compare? Just wondering.. they are thinking of downgrading.
I've tested this same type of Venza and found it very well made. This guy must have gotten a bad one, or he made it bad by loosening the parts. It's very roomy and has plenty of power, even for towing. The data screen is easy to read and figure out. It drives easily and rides higher than normal size cars, but isn't as bulky as a big SUV like the Highlander, according to my wife, who loves it.
this guy hates toyota...i think he drives a honda...haha...he said venza is not a car but its not an suv as well but he was looking for a third row seat come on dummy... i would seriously seriously think of taking this guy of the air...haha...do you agree.
i have one nice car in & out and performance five stars. BUT!!! serious problem comes with The front cabin's, air noise coming from front doors with 35mph up and out side noice hear in side cabin. i'm disappointed, still dealling with toyota.
I test drove one of these and I HATE where they positioned the shifter. It's right in the way of the natural path your hand will take to go up and adjust controls.
An neighbor spent three days in one as a rental ... horrible practicality, lousy handling and 'very poor' assembly. ... a serious disappointment from Toyota.
all i can iay is that nobody is perfect in this world..so car..people can say whatever their want...because the word comeout thier mouth..and is not always right...we just can't believe the Tv too much sometime...anyway everyone had their own opinion...I think the venza is cool...so what...because I like it...spend more money can get better car..
well..I bought that car..I love it....I think that guy just drive that less than a day..he doesnt know much about venza..its great car.roomy, fast, and comfortable..
Reliability: the extent to which an experiment, test, or measuring procedure yields the same results on repeated trials.
This car is brand new. And CR has a past of simply recommending toyota on blank merit. We will have to wait and see how this vehicle performs long term. I am not saying it won't perform well, but we/you/I will have to to see. If you are referring to IQS, then I am sure it is fine, but many other manufacturers too are scoring well on that study!
Well, Toyotas are famous for their boring drive and ridiculously high resale. Hondas got better drive, very very close resale....I see them as better, but who am I to judge, my idea of a great car is a Mustang GT, not exactly the same idea as Honda and Toyota..
I would hate to know this guy.

if you guys are looking for a review on the toyota venza please check kelly blue book
they are a lot more professional and objective
this consumerreports review sounded more like a ford sponsored toyota bashing to me!
my mom still chose to buy the toyota venza instead of the ford edge
it's sitting in our drive way right now
here is the link to KELLY BLUE BOOK'S VENZA REVIEW
