A few years ago I worked very hard to defeat Jerry Sanders and supported Donna Frye for mayor. I thought he'd be a terrible mayor and thought he'd just tow the republican line no matter what. However, since he has been in office, he's been far different from that He is the best mayor San Diego has had for years and I fully support him as mayor.
Brilliant. So inspiring to hear more and more stories of people coming to their senses. The light will always break through eventually... God is on our side.

I think its funny when people try to equate natural disasters with stuff like this, as though its gods punishment...What about Oklahoma and Texas? This man is remarkable. He truly supports his daughter, which is touching in and of itself, and the fact that he realized that calling it anything other than marriage isn't equal gives me hope. And, like others have said, publicly announcing his change of heart regardless of the consequences, especially since he's a conservative, is a true mark of bravery and integrity. Perhaps because MS is so mysterious, the genetic factor has been thoroughly examined: On the order of 1 person out of every 3,000 North Americans contracts the disease. If you have a parent, sibling or child with MS, your chances of contracting it are slightly increased, but only by a few percent.

While the rates for new cases of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, have been on the decline among heterosexuals and intravenous drug users, US health officials are expressing alarm at an eight percent increase in HIV rates in homosexual and bisexual men in one year.
Dr. Carole Jenny and her colleagues reviewed 352 medical charts, representing all of the sexually abused children seen in the emergency room or child abuse clinic of a Denver children's hospital during a one-year period (from July 1, 1991 to June 30, 1992). The molester was a gay or lesbian adult in fewer than 1% in which an adult molester could be identified -- only 2 of the 269 cases (Jenny et al., 1994).
Measuring the increase in prevalence of the virus from 2003 to 2004, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the 8% rise in cases among men who commit sodomy with men, "was statistically significant" for the 33 states that reported on HIV cases, according to the CDC's publication, Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report.
Groth and Birnbaum (1978) studied 175 adult males who were convicted in Massachusetts of sexual assault against a child. None of the men had an exclusively homosexual adult sexual orientation. 83 (47%) were classified as "fixated;" 70 others (40%) were classified as regressed adult heterosexuals; the remaining 22 (13%) were classified as regressed adult bisexuals.

· Pedophile themes abound in homosexual literary culture: Gay fiction as well as serious academic treatises promote "intergenerational intimacy."
The number of Americans who believe the myth that gay people are child molesters has declined substantially. In a 1970 national survey, more than 70% of respondents agreed with the assertions that "Homosexuals are dangerous as teachers or youth leaders because they try to get sexually involved with children" or that "Homosexuals try to play sexually with children if they cannot get an adult partner."
By contrast, in a 1999 national poll, the belief that most gay men are likely to molest or abuse children was endorsed by only 19% of heterosexual men and 10% of heterosexual women. Even fewer -- 9% of men and 6% of women -- regarded most lesbians as child molesters.
A few years ago I worked very hard to defeat Jerry Sanders and supported Donna Frye for mayor. I thought he'd be a terrible mayor and thought he'd just tow the republican line no matter what. I totally agree, summer. Whenever two consenting adults pledge their love for each other, it should absolutely be approved by the government body, just to make sure it's morally acceptable.
As a Catholic, I'm fighting for the day when only a Priest has the legal authority to define two people as married, and only if they are strictly following the rules of the one, true religion.

This man is remarkable. He truly supports his daughter, which is touching in and of itself, and the fact that he realized that calling it anything other than marriage isn't equal gives me hope. And, like others have said, publicly announcing his change of heart regardless of the consequences, especially since he's a conservative, is a true mark of bravery and integrity.
